1 50 LED Technology Long life In terms of service life LED s are truly advanced. Over 70% of their initial light output is maintained after 50,000 hours compared with typically,000 hours offered by traditional fluorescent sources and 5,000 hours with halogen lamps. This translates into significant cost reductions in through life maintenance. However, maximising this operational life is dependant on accurate thermal management and drive current control. Reliability Energy saving We re all looking to reduce energy consumption in an effort to combat climate change. As lighting is one of the largest users of electricity in a typical building, efficiency improvements in our light sources will have a significant impact. When you think the same effect can be created with a xw LED as a 5W tungsten halogen lamp, the results speak for themselves. LED s are solid state devices, i.e. they have no moving parts and no component ruptures, breaks or leaks. Also, unlike conventional light sources, they don t fail instantly at the end of life therefore providing a safer lit environment, in fact many applications will last for more than 0 years of operation.

2 Coloured light A whole new dimension in colour light is now available with LED s. As the colour is generated at source there is no need for filters which absorb the light. Combining different coloured LED s provides the ability to generate any colour in the spectrum, both fixed and dynamically changing. The possibilities are endless! Integration LED s can be discreetly integrated into luminaires and fixtures due to their compact design, resulting in new possibilities in architectural and display applications looking for an invisible light source.

8 RGB Colour Change 57 The ability to dynamically change colour with LED s provides a whole new dimension to the lighting world, enabling the designer to create effects never seen or experienced before. RGB LED Luminaires A wide range of Axent luminaires have RGB colour change capability by integration of Red, Green and Blue LED s Colour Change DMX Driver All RGB luminaires are supplied complete with RJ45 plug for simple connection into a channel colour change driver. An on board DMX5 interface provides excellent 0% to 00% dimming for smooth and accurate colour mixing. DMX Controls A range of control methods are available from simple to set up wireless Radio Frequency through to large scale PC commissioned systems, all providing the end user with simple yet flexible control.
