6 Selection of speed reducers Input revolution {r.p,m.} Input revolution achieved through direct coupling, belt, pulley, etc. Makishinko worm gear speed reducers can be supplied for maximum input revolution of up to 2.OOO r.p.m., but generally for 600-1,8O0 r.p.m. When the input revolution is lower than 6OO r.p.m., especialty 100 r.p.m., select a higherranked type, considering reduction efficiency and output tofque. Lubricate sufficiently. Torgus/kW The torque to start revolution is always larger than that required to maintain it. Therefore. select a speed reducer on the basis of the torque required for starting. Relation between horsepower and torque: x n*_n(r.p.m) T(N.m) 9550 (N'm): x kw 95so N(r.o'm) Overhang load Overhang load is a sort bending load. For example, if a speed reducer shaft of 200N'm output torque is equipped with a sprocket wheel of 150 dia. the following result is attained: o.h.l.: r!ry't) :=299 =267s1111 R(m) lf the load of 267 kg is larger than the allowance of overhang load. select a sprocket wheel of a larger diameter to reduce the overhang load. lf the allowance of O.H.L. is determined beforehand, radius of the corresponding sprocket wheel is obtained by using the formula bejow: o_ TxO.H.L. coefficient 200x ?f'76-:v.ur. OJI-L Thus, a sprocket wheel of over 1SOmm dia. is suitable. Overhang load coefficient and allowance of Makishinko Speed Reducer are' shown in Table-2. Temperature rlae of worm-gear speed reducer Since worm-gears involve large friction, longtime operation results in heating of the unit. The thermal limits are: (1) The thermal difference between the oil in the tank and the ambient temperature is approx.5ooc. (2) Max. temperature of the Housing Surface is approx. 80oC(varies with revolution speed and oil volume).
