For models of 100A or higher, lift and remove the cover using I-Bolt for the handle. Dissemble the screen in a top-down manner and remove foreign substances, before assembling it in reverse order. With a brush, remove foreign substances through the opening at the inlet of the screen. Mesh Screen As a wire net screen, it has finer meshes as the number increases and is marked with the size of the mesh per unit length (per inch) Perforated Screen It is marked not with mesh of wire net scree widely used, but with the size of perforated hole and distance between holes, or pitch, or the size of hole per unit area (Inch 2 ) and total of holes. 4 OMEGA TYPE STRAINER Ω-STRAINER Y-STRAINER Flows linearly with less pressure loss. The screen is partially dispositioned toward the inlet, with foreign substances gathered at the outlet, making accumulated foreign substances cause less pressure loss. The fluid revolves in the screen before flowing, causing much pressure loss. Accumulated foreign substances revolve with the fluid, raising pressure loss and causing wear of the cover. The cover, assembled horizontally, is easy to remove using grooves on the over after unscrewing nuts and separating the gasket with notching. (Use I-Bolt for 100A or over.) The cover is assembled 45 downward and there is no device to separate the Gasket, making it hard to dissemble. Self-load of the cover may cause the risk of fall, so a safety device to prevent it is required. Ω-shaped, the screen is easy to remove from the body with its elasticity and hanger. The screen is cylindric, making it hard to remove from the body when foreign substances are accumulated outwards. Assembled in top-down fashion easily. It is necessary to assemble 45 upward, so it is impossible to place the screen alone in the body. In contrast to dissembly, place into stud bolt in the body using I-Bolt and screw nuts. The screen and the cover should be assembled 45 upwards with the body, making it very hard to assemble. It takes around 4 to 5 mins for small to medium sizes of 150A or below. Depending on conditions to life the cover, it takes around 7 to 9 mins for large sizes of 200A or over using I-Bolt. For small sizes of 50A or below, it takes around 6 to 7 mins when Screen Cap is removed normally. Depending on the conditions of dissembling the cap, more time is needed. As it is hard to dissemble and assemble medium sizes of 150A or below, requiring 10 to 13 mins to the minimum, and even large sizes of 200A or higher may not be dissembled and assembled. The cover is damaged due to concurrent revolution of foreign substances and the fluid. Lineal flow of the fluid minimizes pressure loss.
5 OMEGA TYPE DUPLEX STRAINER - Main Flow: lineal at a normal condition with the least pressure loss. - Bypass Flow: used only for cleanup of the main flow strainer. - Screen is dissembled and assembled in top-down manner, making it easier to clean the screen. - Installation space is small and lightweight and the lineal pipeline at in and outlet makes it easier to build. - Concept is simple with an affordable lightweight structure, requiring lower facilities and maintenance costs. 6 OMEGA TYPE STRAINER Pressure loss of the strainer happens due to different values caused by structural difference and accumulated foreign substances as the screen is not regularly cleaned. This lowers pump efficiency, causing the increase in power consumption. For 100A Size, test data on the condition that the screen is not blocked and converted losses are as below. However, the above data are from the condition that the screen is fully opened. Ω Type and Y Type are basically different structural efficiencies as shown above, and on sites, more foreign substances come in over time, making the screen to the channel blocked. Table 1 shows test data depending on the blockage ratio of the screen and consumption cost loss depending on additional power consumption.
