The two latest additions to this range, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV and the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R, have been designed for drivers who want to use the full potential of their car and increase their driving pleasure. Both tyres use technologies developed in motorsport and in cooperation with the most demanding car manufacturers when it comes to performance. With Michelin Track Connect, connected tyre mobility has become reality. Connected technology, as an innovating mobility concept, Is very important and the cutting-edge technology within Track Connect allows its users to improve their driving skills by combining and analysing the pressure and temperature data of their connected tyres. This real-time data lets drivers improve the performance of their sports cars on a race track, so they can increase their driving pleasure while knowing that they can use their tyres safely until the last lap. (1) Since 2017 the Porsche GT2 RS and GT3 RS, fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R tyres, has set 3 records on the legendary Nordschleife of the Nürburgring. 4 1 THE MICHELIN PILOT SPORT 4 SUV TYRE The SUV segment has seen huge growth in recent years the launches of several really serious high performance SUVs. These present a new challenge for tyre designers a much higher centre of gravity than your typical sports car and heavier body weights which necessitate a tyre that works with higher and larger centrifugal/ lateral forces. That is why Michelin has developed the new specialist Pilot Sport 4 SUV range real sports tyres adapted to an SUV rather than a sporty SUV tyre. The new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV replaces the Michelin Latitude Sport 3 and can be used for the full range of SUVs 4X4, compact, medium, premium and sports, the latter being a sector with strong growth. This new tyre benefits from the powerful innovation capacities of the Michelin Group and the latest technologies of the Michelin Pilot Sport range, with an emphasis on control and stability at high speed while guaranteeing safety and a long tyre life. The Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tyre will change the way high performance tyres for premium and sporty SUVs are perceived. The tyre was developed in cooperation with the most demanding car manufacturers and is part of the Michelin Pilot family of safe and versatile high-performance tyres. The Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tyre delivers exceptional comfort and the pleasure of driving sporty SUVs, in safe conditions on dry and wet roads alike, while having a longer tyre life compared to its competitors. Michelin has managed to combine all these features by using motorsport tyre technologies in addition to innovations taken from the latest Formula E tyres. 3.

5 AN ASYMMETRICAL TREAD DESIGN The new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tyre has exceptional grip compared to its competitors thanks to the asymmetrical design of its tyre tread: the outer part for dry conditions and the internal part for wet conditions. It also features, a new compound mix of special operational and innovating elastomers (1) and fine silica. The ultra-reactive tyre tread design adapts to road conditions through dynamic interaction between the tread pattern and the advanced tread compounds to deliver perfect management of the tyre contact patch. The tread grooves are designed to produce a stiffer tread and improve lateral grip. To optimise driving precision, the tyre tread is equipped with the Dynamic Response technology, a belt with a hybrid reinforcement made of aramid and nylon. (1) An operational elastomer improves the distribution of the load (silica) inside the tyre mix and reinforces its performance. 4.

6 A LONG LIFE TYRE While the asymmetrical tyre tread provides exceptional grip, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tyre also has an excellent tyre life due to the rigid tread blocks and a two-layer high density casing ply which reinforces its stiffness. MAXIMUM COMFORT - MINIMUM NOISE The tyre was designed with the objective of providing maximum driving pleasure in safe conditions for drivers of a premium SUVs with long-lasting performance. It was also developed to improve driving comfort and to reduce the associated noise. 5.

7 PREMIUM TOUCH DESIGN: AN ATTRACTIVE FINISH FOR SUVS The Pilot Sport 4 SUV has Michelin Premium Touch Technology sidewalls, or in other words, high contrast sidewalls with a velvet touch. It makes the tyres easily recognizable and stand out in the universe of these exclusive vehicles. The majority of premium or sporty SUVs are equipped with large diameter alloy rims and the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV incorporates a rim-protector to protect the alloy wheels from kerbs and pavements during town driving. 6.

8 NUMBER 1 IN INDEPENDENT TESTS The Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tyre is the result of Michelin s unique know-how and has been developed by passionate and dedicated tyre designers this tyre redefines the standards in its category and is already Number 1 in its category. During tests carried out by the independent TÜV SÜD in Germany, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV has outperformed its six competitors in several key performance areas. A SAFE TYRE WITH LONG-LASTING PERFORMANCES NUMBER 1 FOR BRAKING ON DRY(1) AND WET(2) SURFACES The Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV is ahead of its competitors when braking on dry and wet surfaces. Tests carried out by the TÜV SÜD showed that on dry surfaces the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV brakes 1.8 metres(1) shorter than the average of its competitors. 12 2 THE MICHELIN PILOT SPORT CUP2 R TYRE the semi-slick tyre developed to beat lap records The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R is a bespoke high performance tyre developed in conjunction with the most prestigious car manufacturers, such as Porsche and Ferrari, to meet the needs of experienced drivers in ultra-high performance cars who are looking for the ultimate performance during track days. Homologated for use on the road, the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R maximizes the grip on dry circuits and delivers very high grip levels, making it possible for the drivers to attack corners at very high speeds. Tests carried out on a circuit by Michelin with different vehicle manufacturers show an average increase of 0.5 sec/km using this new tyre. In the last two years the Porsche GT2 RS and GT3 RS have set 3 new record drives on the legendary Nordschleife of the Nürburgring, and all three cars were fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R tyres. 11.

13 TECHNOLOGIES DIRECTLY RESULTING FROM MOTORSPORTS To achieve this performance with the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R, Michelin engineers have used tread compounds taken from the Motorsport Department. The new tyre tread of the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R is specially made for dry track conditions. The number of tread blocks on the outer shoulder of the tyre has been reduced, and the central grooves are now closer together. This makes the tread blocks more rigid so that they can withstand the higher grip forces and improve driving precision. Ultimately the size of the tyre s contact patch has increased by nearly 10%. The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R thus makes it possible to fully use the power and potential of these ultra-high performance cars. Pierre Chaput, the engineer responsible for the development of the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R for the Ferrari 488 Pista, explains: The challenge consisted in pushing the grip limits of the 488 Pista. Thanks to the performance of the R version of the Pilot Sport Cup2 we were able to improve the lap times considerably while maintaining driving pleasure and reactivity which are characteristics of the Ferrari 488 Pista. For all tyres developed by Michelin in cooperation with Ferrari, driving simulators from both companies have played an important part in the tyre design and development. Ferrari s test drivers worked alongside Michelin s engineers on Michelin TameTire. This software, which was developed by Michelin, simulates and models tyre behaviour and enables the drivers to test the tyre virtually before running tests on a real circuit. From March 2019 onwards, Ferrari will market the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R (with a K1* marking) as an option for the 488 Pista in the following sizes: Front: 245 / 35ZR20 (95Y) PS CUP2 R K1 Rear: 305 / 30ZR20 (103Y) PS CUP2 R K1 * The marking K1 indicates that this Michelin tyre was specifically developed for Ferrari. Homologations are under way with other manufactures like Mercedes-AMG. 12.

14 3 MICHELIN TRACK CONNECT The first connected tyre on the market to enhance your circuit driving experience In 2018, Michelin became the first manufacturer to market a connected tyre for amateur drivers wanting to improve their circuit driving and performance during track days. Why: Following a few laps of a circuit, the individual pressure of each tyre will increase how much depends on the circuit, the car and the type of driving. This pressure change can have the effect of severely degrading vehicle performance and tyre wear. What pressure to put in each tyre? Every driver would love to have a Michelin engineer by their side advising them! MICHELIN Track Connect can help make this dream come true by helping the driver with customised, informed advice about adjusting tyre pressures to improve performance and driving fun. MICHELIN Track Connect will assist the driver before, during and after each circuit run. 13.

15 Before The application recommends the most suitable pressure for the vehicle s tyres and for the driving conditions: dry, damp or wet circuit. During MICHELIN Track Connect gives the driver real-time information about the pressure and temperature of each of the vehicle s four tyres. The sensors inside the tyre can accurately measure the pressure and temperature of the tyres and will analyse any changes as the vehicle goes around the track. Based on these parameters, the smartphone application acts as an interface for the driver and formats the information to help the driver interpret it correctly, and will guide them as they optimise the calibration of the tyre pressure. For instance, with MICHELIN Track Connect, the driver is in a position to know whether their tyres are operating within the optimal limits according to the track driving conditions as defined by the driver (dry/damp/wet circuit). It is also possible for the driver to see how their vehicle is behaving (oversteering or understeering) according to the analysis of changes in the balance between front and rear tyre pressures. MICHELIN Track Connect will indicate and suggest the adjustments needed before returning to the circuit. In order to provide a more detailed analysis, all the data is stored and can be accessed at a later stage so the driver may examine their performance and that of their tyres between two runs. Under intensive circuit driving, the brakes are in big demand and this can lead to a big heat build-up in the rims. This heat build-up can distort pressure measurements taken at the valve and make them less accurate. This is why the Michelin Track Connect sensor is positioned inside the tyre to make sure that the recorded tyre temperature is reliable and accurate; this positioning of the sensor is protected by a patent. The sensors send information to a receiver placed inside the vehicle, so there is no need for any professional intervention or special tool to be used. The receiver then sends the information to the driver s smartphone, where the appropriate application has been installed. After Latest Developments In 2019, Michelin Track Connect has been improved following user feedback from tests conducted in the USA, Europe and China. The new version has been enhanced with four new features: WARM-UP MODE MANOMETER MODE TEAM MODE SHARING MODE FOR SOCIAL NETWORKS. The warm-up mode allows the drive to compensate for the initial temperature rise of the tyres, before making the first adjustments to the pressures. Manometer mode or Pressure gauge mode, allows the smartphone to view live pressure adjustment advice for the four tyres due to the accuracy of the sensors, without using an external pressure gauge. The Team mode and Sharing mode make it possible to create a group with friends or club members, and to share actual performance and results within the team and on social networks. 14.
