3 RRNEMENTS RRNEMENT 1 ELT DRIVE RRNEMENT 9X ELT DRIVE Used when motor is too large for rrangement 9 or when a higher temperature package is desired. Maximum temperatures: 200. aluminum wheel; 300.N wheel; 00 heat fan. See page 11 for maximum motor sizes. Vbelt drive configuration allows selection of any of six fan sizes at a variety of fan speeds. Provides flexibility in performance simply by adjusting or changing drive sheaves. Maximum temperatures: 200.aluminum wheel; 300.N wheel; 00.heat fan. MOTORPOSITION DESINTION Drawing at right shows MC motorposition designations. This designation must be given when ordering rrangement 1 fans with Vbelt drives and/or belt guard. Motor positions are independent of rotation and discharge and are determined by viewing fan shaft from drive end. RRNEMENT 9 ELT DRIVE Z Y W X RRNEMENT 4 DIRECT DRIVE Directdrive configuration available in nine sizes at 3500 RPM and 1750 RPM, provides simplest, most economical package. an wheel is mounted on motor shaft. Not recommended for heavy materialhandling applications as material impact may damage motor. Maximum temperature10. RRNEMENT 4V DIRECT DRIVE Compact Vbelt drive configuration integrates motor and drive with fan in one assembly. INLET ILTER ilters are available with a choice of three element types: Wire mesh, hiflow polyester, and ultrasynthetic. Highefficiency filter is flange mounted, and is furnished with a protective hood. Outboard end of filter should be supported independently of fan. OUTLET DMPER Singlevane damper slips over fan outlet for all discharges except Down last. lso available with flanges for mounting to fan flange and ductwork. VIRTION ISOLTION Rubberinshear isolators minimize the transmission of vibration and noise to surrounding structures from rrangement 4, 9, and 9X fans. SCREENED OUTLET RINHOOD or rrangement 4V fans, slips over fan outlet to protect fan airstream from the weather. CCESSORIES OTHER CCESSORIES lso available from nyb are inlet screens, outlet guards, motors, and vbelt drive components. SETY EQUIPMENT Safety accessories are available from nyb, but selection of the appropriate devices is the responsibility of the systemdesigner who is familiar with the particular installation, or application, and can provide for guards for all exposed moving parts as well as protection from access to highvelocity airstreams. 5 MODIICTIONS SPRKRESISTNT CONSTRUCTION Three types of sparkresistant construction are available. See separate nyb Engineering Letter and consult nyb sales representative. HNDLIN CORROSIVES Protective coating and special alloys are available to combat corrosion problems. Thin film coatings [5 to 10 mil thickness] special paints and spray coatings are available under a variety of trade names. nyb works with experienced coating applicators who can apply coatings to meet a wide range of requirements. lternate material construction Compact I ans can be constructed of aluminum or various stainless steels. HOW TO USE PERORMNCE TLES DIRECT DRIVE The curves and capacity tables on pages and 7 provide CM, static pressure, HP, and outlet velocity information for directdrive Compact I ans [see page 10 for maximum motor frame sizes]. ELT DRIVE The capacity tables on pages and 9 provide CM, static pressure, HP, and outlet velocity information for beltdrive Compact I ans. The dimension tables on page 11 provide Vbelt drive centerdistance information and maximum motor frames allowable. ll performance data is based on standard air at.075 lb./cu. ft. density [70. at sea level]. If selections are to be based on other temperatures or altitudes, static pressure and brake horsepower must be corrected using the factors shown in Charts ll and lll. If temperature is a factor, speed must be checked against the safe operating speed in Chart l. Note: rrangement 4 fans are not suitable for temperatures over 10., and rrangement 4V fans are not suitable for temperatures over 120. EXMPLE Select a Compact I an with N wheel for 09 CM at 3000 PM OV at 2 SP at 325. at sea level. 1. Chart ll shows a 1.4 correction factor for SP x 1.4 = 2.9 SP at 70. [round to 3 SP]. 3. The method of correcting for altitude is the same as for temperature using the correction factors from Chart lll. HETN CONSTRUCTION rrangement 1 and 9X Compact I ans with N wheels can be equipped with shaft coolers which make them suitable for airstream temperatures to 00., provided that ambient air temperature at the bearings does not exceed 120. The maximum allowable fan speed decreases as the airstream temperature increases. See Chart I [below].
