Fitment of wheels to axles is limited to the heat-shrink method only. Press-fitting of wheels is excluded. Scope excludes wheelsets for Rail Mounted Machines or wheel skates. M01-A Powered Wheelsets Subject to a general surveillance assessment within 12 Approval is for the assembly, overhaul and repair of powered wheelsets fitted with monobloc and tyred wheels on solid axle and / or hollow axle wheelsets. Fitment of wheels and gearwheels to axles is limited to the heat-shrink method only. Press-fitting of wheels and gearwheels to axles or bolting of gears to flanged axles is excluded. Scope excludes wheelsets for Rail Mounted Machines or wheel skates. M01-B Axlebox bearings Subject to a general surveillance assessment within 12 Approval is limited to the inspection and assembly of spherical and roller type axle bearings and fitting of cartridge type bearings to axles. Scope excludes overhaul of cartridge type bearings. M01-B Axles Subject to a general surveillance assessment within 12 Machining of axles is permitted only when applying an approved reclamation procedure or for the cleaning up of wheel and gear seats within drawing tolerances.
