3 INSTALLATION MANUAL FOR BW CABLE GLAND BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The Raychem RPG BW type cable gland is for dry indoor applications use with wire armoured cable. INSTRUCTIONS TO INSTALLATIONS: Point Advice: 1. BS 6121: Part 5, EN & IEC for Installation and Maintenance of Cable Glands. 2. Installation should only be carried out by a competent electrician, skilled in cable gland installation. 3. No installation should be carried out under live conditions. 4. To maintain Ingress Protection ratings above IP2X, use IP washers or O-rings for parallel threads. 5. The surface of the enclosure should be sufficiently flat and rigid to make both the IP joint, and earth contact where needed. 6. Earth tag is required, where there is requirement of earth connection. 7. Once installed do not dismantle except for occasional inspection. If necessary, dismantle by reversing the Fitting Instructions given above. The gland is not serviceable and spare parts are not supplied. Parts are not interchangeable with any other design. If manufacturers' parts are mixed, certification will be invalidated. 8. Be sure your installation complies with the cable construction: The glands should only be used with substantially round and compact cables with extruded bedding (i.e. effectively filled cables).

SPECIAL CONDITION FOR SAFE USE: 1. The glands used for terminating wire armour cables are only suitable for fixed installation. Cable must be clamped to prevent pulling or twisting. 2. An entry thread seal may be needed to maintain the IP rating of the enclosure to which gland is attached. Note: These glands should not be used in any application other than those mentioned here or in our Data Sheets, unless Raychem RPG states in writing that the product is suitable for such Application. Raychem RPG can take no responsibility for any damage, injury or other Consequential loss caused where the glands are not installed or used according to these Instructions.

5 FITTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR BW GLAND:- 1. Separate components (1),(2) and (3). Prepare the cable by removing the cable outer sheath and the armour to suit the geometry of the equipment. Remove a further 18mm (max) of outer sheath to expose the armour. 2. Secure the gland body (3) into the enclosure as indicated. 3. Pass the cable through the gland body and evenly space the armour around the cone. 4. While continuing to push the cable forward to maintain contact between the armour and the cone, tighten the armour cone ring (2) by hand to engage the armour. Hold the gland main body (3) with a spanner and tighten the cone ring (2) and entry nut (1) using a spanner until the armour is secured. Gland Outer body (entry nut), Armoured cone ring, Gland main body & Enclosure 5. Full Assembly (outer bodies tighten with cone body). Note: 1. Maximum size cables the clamping ring may only pass over the armour. 2. If required, shroud for additional environmental conditions & operators safety, fit over the cable gland. Shroud should be terminated to suit the cable diameter. 3. Earth tag is required, where there is requirement of earth.
