2 WARNING: When fitting this luggage system, ensure the motorcycle is stabilised and adequately supported, to prevent the risk of injury from the motorcycle falling.. Remove the seat and disconnect the battery, negative (black) lead first.. Remove the grab rail, disconnect the rear light cable and remove the rear body panel.. Disconnect and remove both rear indicators.. Remove bolt in LH rear sub-frame pannier mounting and discard.. At the left hand side of the motorcycle, undo the two M8 bolts securing the lifting handle. Remove the seat lock assembly from the handle and detach the cable from the lock. Remove the lifting handle. Retain (for reuse) the two M8 bolts and the lock mechanism with its securing screws. 6. Assemble the replacement lifting handle from the supplied kit, as shown below At the left hand rear footrest, undo the two footrest hanger securing bolts. Fit the new lifting handle bracket on top of the subframe plate, as shown below, and refit the securing bolts. Tighten to 7 Nm.. Subframe plate Fit Lifting Handle 8. At the right hand side of the motorcycle, slacken the silencer to exhaust pipe clamp. WARNING: If the engine has recently been running, the exhaust system will be hot. Before working on or near the exhaust system, allow sufficient time for the system to cool, as touching any part of a hot exhaust could cause burn injuries.. Lifting handle bracket. Lifting handle. Circlip. Ball bearing. Spring 6. Pivot pin 9. Remove the silencer to footrest hanger bolt and rotate the silencer inwards, towards the wheel. 0. Bolt the silencer lowering bracket to the footrest hanger, and secure the silencer to the bracket using a new M8x0 bolt and locknut from the kit. Tighten both bolts to 7 Nm. Assemble Lifting Handle. 3 . Re-tighten the silencer to exhaust pipe clamp.. Slacken the rear mudguard upper support bolts and position the strengthening bracket backplate as shown below. Align the backplate using two M8x0 bolts from the kit inserted through the backplate and into the holes in the top of the mudguard.. Strengthening bracket. L.H. pannier rail bracket. From the underside of the mudguard, offer up the strengthening bracket such that the mounting holes align with the M8 bolts from above and the upper arms of the bracket pass through the cut-outs and locate between the mudguard support web and the upper frame rails of the motorcycle.. Loosely secure the strengthening bracket in place with two locknuts from the kit. Align the holes in the strengthening bracket to the indicator holes in the mudguard. Do not fully tighten at this stage.. Fit the left hand subframe to pannier rail bracket as shown. This slides between the rear subframe pannier mount and strengthening bracket. This operation may require the gap between the rear subframe mount and strengthening bracket to be held open with a flat blade screwdriver or similar tool. Secure at the rear using one of the retained M8 bolts (step ) inserted from inside the mudguard upper support web and through the upper arm of the strengthening bracket. Secure at the front with a new M8x0 bolt from the kit. 6. Fit the right hand side subframe to pannier rail bracket in the same manner as for the left. 7. Fully tighten all pannier rail and strengthening bracket bolts to the following torque values: Pannier rail brackets - 7 Nm. Mudguard to strengthening bracket - Nm. 8. On the top of the rear mudguard, drill a 8 mm drain hole in line with the cut-out in the strengthening bracket backplate. Rear Mudguard Drain Hole 9. At the left hand side of the motorcycle, route the seat lock cable between the upper and lower subframe side rails, to exit below the expansion tank. 0. Reconnect the cable to the lock mechanism.. Fit the lock and new security backplate to the left hand subframe to pannier rail bracket, using the original lock securing screws. Part Number A Issue.98

4 . Fit the left hand side indicator bracket as shown below using M8x0 bolt and locknut, then the right hand side bracket.. At the left hand side of the motorcycle, loosely fit the pannier rail to the foot rest hanger, the pannier rail bracket and the indicator bracket using M8x bolt, flanged sleeve x, rubber grommet x, M8 locknut, M6x6 bolt x, M6 washer x and M6 spring washer x and M8 domehead screw, as shown below. 6. At the left hand side of the motorcycle, fit the pannier rail lower support bracket to the left pannier rail as shown below using M6 Torx screw x, rubber grommet x, flanged sleeve x and M6 locknut x, and tighten to Nm. Push the rubber cushioning block into the square hole in the pannier rail.. Grommet. Rubber cushioning. Flanged sleeve block. M6 Locknut. M6 Torx screw. M8 x Bolt 6. M8 Domehead. Tighten the pannier rail securing bolts in the following sequence: Pannier rail to indicator bracket - Nm Indicator bracket to strengthener - Nm Lower support bracket to footrest hanger - 0 Nm Pannier rail centre support bolt - 0 Nm 6. Fit and secure the right hand pannier rail in the same manner as for the left. 7. To each pannier rail fit a pannier rail latch as follows: Place a rubber mat on the Pannier Rail and align the holes. Locate the Pannier latch three fixed screws through the rubber mat and pannier rail. Place the backing plate over the three fixed screws and secure with the M nuts. Tighten to Nm. 5 8. From the 6 lock set select a lock for the pannier rail catch. They are identified by a gold locking post and the position of the locking post in relation to the key slot which is in line with the locking post. (Please note the remaining four locks have silver locking posts and the key slot is at 0 degrees to the locking post and are the pannier lid locks.) 9. Hold open the pannier rail latch mechanism and place the lock (in the locked position) in the lock orifice with the locking post pointing away from the catch. Push the lock until it clips into position.. From the 6 lock set select two locks for the pannier. These are identified by their silver locking post and the position of the key in relation to the key slot which is at 0 degrees to the locking post. (Please note the locks with gold locking post and the key slot in line with the locking post are for locking the pannier to the pannier rail.). Hold open one pannier latch mechanism and place the lock (in the locked position) in the lock orifice with the locking post pointing away from the catch. Push the lock until it clips into position. Repeat for the other pannier lock. Inserting Lock into Latch Mechanism for Pannier Rail 0. There are two pannier sets a left and a right. Assemble each as follows: On the inner pannier rear open the hinges. Lay the hinges on the pannier lid outside edge. Place a rivet plate opposite one hinge on the pannier lid inside edge and pop rivet through the hinge, pannier lid and rivet plate. Repeat for the other hinge. Inserting Lock into Latch Mechanism for Pannier Rail. Place a rubber sheet on one of the pannier lid catch positions lining up the holes. Place the catch plate on the rubber sheet again lining up the holes. Secure the catch plate to the pannier lid with the M screws through the backing plate. Repeat for the other catch plate.. 6 . Open the Pannier Lid. Place the two spire clips over the lugs on the pannier lid. Fix the lid restraining straps attached to the pannier rear to the spire clips using the two M fixed washer screws. 0. Fit the rear indicators to the new indicator support brackets (leaving out washers) as shown below. Push the rubber boot over the connectors and onto the indicator nut, and reconnect to the wiring harness.. M Fixed washer. Lid restraining strap screw. Luggage restraining. Spire clip strap Lid/Luggage Restraining Straps. Clip the luggage restraining straps to the four fixing points in the corners of the pannier rear. 6. Close the pannier lid. Peel off the protective backing to the Triumph badge and adhere it on the pannier in the indent provided. Reflective strips supplied should be applied to the pannier lid 0 mm below the Triumph badge. 7. Cut out the paper templates and align with the edges of the rear mudguard. Mark the position of the reinforcing bracket holes. 8. Remove the template and drill a 8mm hole at each marked position. 9. Fit the reinforcing bracket to the underside of the mudguard, and the anti-vibration rubbers to either side, as shown below. Refitting Rear Indicators. Attach the two pre-cut lengths of protective rubber edging to the cut-outs in the lower edge of the rear body panel.. Refit the rear body panel and grab rail, reconnecting the rear light cable.. Reconnect the battery, positive (red) lead first, and refit the seat. To fit each pannier:. Release the catch on the pannier rail.. Hang the pannier onto the pannier rail and ease the pannier sideways, towards the front of the motorcycle, so that the foot at the front of the pannier mates with the locating slot and latch mechanism. 6. Push the pannier fully home against the rubber cushioning block and fasten the latch. WARNING: The maximum safe load for each pannier is 6 Kg ( lbs). Never exceed this loading limit as this may cause the motorcycle to become unstable leading to loss of control and an accident.. M6 Shouldered screw. M6 Flanged sleeve. Anti-vibration rubber. 7 WARNING: After fitting the luggage system, operate the motorcycle in a safe area free from traffic to gain familiarity with the new handling characteristics. Operation when not familiar with the new characteristics of the motorcycle may result in an accident causing injury or death. WARNING: Never ride in excess of 80mph on a motorcycle that is equipped with a Triumph luggage system. The presence of such a luggage system will affect the stability and handling of the motorcycle. Any such changes in stability may lead to loss of control and an accident. WARNING: The motorcycle must not be operated above the legal road speed limit except in closed course conditions.
