1 2012 World Time Attack Challenge SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS EASTERN CREEK INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY 1.Authority: The event will be referred to as the 2012 World Time Attack Challenge. This Event is a Lap Dash event and be held under the sanctioning of the Australian Auto- Sport Alliance Pty. Ltd.(hereafter referred to as AASA), in the interests of consistency in the administration and enhancement of safety, and will be conducted under AASA National Competition Rules and these Standing Regulations, and any further Regulations or Bulletins issued in conjunction with this event. 2. AASA Permit No AASA100812/SA554 has been issued and will be displayed at the Event. 3. Promoter: Superlap Australia Pty Ltd 36 Mary Pde. Rydalmere NSW 2116 Ph Type of Event Lap Dash Event, with international participation not part of any Series or Championship 5. Date Friday August 10th 2012, Saturday August 11th Venue Eastern Creek International Raceway Brabham Drive & Ferrers Rd Blacktown NSW 7. Fuels Due to Circuit policy, each competitor may only store 100 litres of fuel per vehicle entered inside their garage. There is to be no refuelling in garages. 8. Track surface Sealed Bitumen Track Length 3.93km 9. 2 10. Event Format Cars will be divided into four (4) classes, and each class will be divided into groups based on relative vehicle and driver performance. The groupings will be set by the Clerk of the Course, in order to ensure cars of similar speed are on the track at the same time. After publication of the first set of times and at any time the Clerk of the Course reserves the right to re-allocate cars between groups, or change the number of groups to ensure competitors are getting the fairest and safest group allocation. Cars will be started individually, the number of cars as per the track capacity shown for the circuit. Proposed minimum number of sessions for the event: 2 Cars in all groups will run in sessions with a maximum track density of 20 cars. Note: Grouping of cars to form a mini-race anywhere on the circuit is NOT permitted, and action will be taken by the Clerk of the Course if such an incident takes place. 11. Entries a) Maximum number of Driver entries for the Event: 120 Reserves: 10 b) Maximum number of Drivers per competitor 2. c) Opening date 2 nd April 2012 d) Entry Fee is as follows: Entrants CANNOT enter the same vehicle in two categories. Time Attack vehicles cannot enter into the Drift Competition or the Legends of Turbo Era Class. Pro Class: $1299 is invitational only and cars must be of an international standard as deemed by the event organizers. Entry includes a timing transponder hire and garage plus driver and 5 crew passes for the two days of the event. Open Class: $1199 includes timing transponder hire a garage and a driver and 3 crew passes for the two days of the event. Clubsprint Class: $849 includes timing transponder hire a garage and a driver and 2 crew passes for the two days of the event. Garage allocation for all entrants will be at the sole discretion of the Promoter Legends of Turbo Era Class: TBA includes timing transponder hire, driver and 3 crew passes for the two days of the event. Cars will be divided into their own group Category 4 and will have 1 (one) 15 minutes session on the 11 th & 12 th August 2012 and it will be timed. They will be allowed to run slick tyres and must be scrutineered and sign on before they enter the circuit. Only cars that have been approved by the Promoter and the Clerk of the Course can be entered into this class and will not be mixed with any other classes in there session. Any prizes to be given will be at the sole discretion of the promoters. f) Closing Date 29 July 2012 A late entry fee of $20.00 will apply for entries received after the closing date g) Entries will be accepted by the Promoters according to their sole discretion, on a properly completed Entry Form, accompanied by the appropriate entry fee. h) Entries from Drivers years of age must be counter-signed/consented by a Parent or legal guardian on the official entry form. i) The Promoter reserves the right to refuse any entry without giving a reason.
3 j) Letter/ confirming acceptance of entries will be sent to each competitor (only for entries received more than 5 days before the event). k) If a competitor advises the Promoter that he/she is unable to attend the event, any refunds will be at the sole discretion of the Promoter. l) Any vehicle presented for scrutineering will for the purpose of the entry be deemed to have competed. m) Competitors may be issued with a sticker pack. It is a condition of entry that the competitors will display the stickers supplied as required by the Promoter. 13. Minimum licences: Participants must hold a Current AASA Club Licence or CAMS equivalent to be produced on the day of the event or entry will be denied. If International competitors hold a current competition licence issued by a AASA approved sanctioning body this licence will be allowed to compete under the approval of AASA. If International participants do not hold a current competition licence issued by an AASA approved sanctioning body the must purchase an AASA Club Racing licence. 14. Driver Safety. Drivers must wear: (a) A helmet that complies with AS1698 or better and carries marking to that effect, or is otherwise approved by AASA. Helmets must be in good condition and must not have any perforations to the outer surface. (b) Non-flammable clothing extending from neck to wrist to ankles (apparel of nylon or similar material is forbidden). (c) Shoes, which completely cover the feet, made entirely of leather or other flameresistant materials. Shoes that contain any synthetic materials such as nylon are forbidden. (d) In open cars, goggles or a visor with a lens material other than glass (ie to AS ) are mandatory as are leather or Nomex gloves which entirely cover the hands. (e) All drivers in Pro Class must be attired in accordance with AASA Standing Regulations Manual. 15. Vehicle Categories & Classes There will be 3 categories: 15.1 Category 1 Pro Class Pro Class is Invitational only, if you wish to enter Pro Class you may apply by contacting nathan@superlap.com.au Invitations will be at the sole discretion of the Promoter. Vehicles All Vehicles must be available for purchase from a major manufacturer currently/previously as a factory OEM vehicle. No Open Wheel vehicles, Clubman or Kit cars allowed, as determined by the Promoter. All vehicles must have four (4) wheels with the steering acting on the front wheels only. Vehicles are limited to one engine. No centre steer vehicles allowed. Vehicle Modifications Body All convertible type vehicles must be equipped with a roll cage that complies with AASA Regulations, and/or meets the approval of the Chief Scrutineer.
4 Carbon fibre and other lightweight body kits/panels are allowed, all bodies must still retain the OEM factory body look and style. Roofs may be lowered. Chassis OEM strut towers must be retained. OEM firewall must be retained. Modifications to the firewall are allowed for roll cage, engine fitment, transmission fitment and wiring. All holes must be sealed. If the firewall is provisioned for to allow clearance for a different engine or allow gearbox/drive train fitment, all material must be replaced with the same thickness sheet metal as the factory material. The rear most part of the engine block may be no more than 2 inches rearward of the most forward point of the firewall, If the vehicle is rear engine, the front most part of the engine block may be no more than 2 inches forward of the most rear point of the firewall. Chassis rails may be modified for fitment issues, all chassis rail modifications must be submitted to the promoter for approval. Roll Cage All vehicles must have a minimum 6 point roll cage that complies with AASA Regulations, and/or meets the approval of the Chief Scrutineer. Roll Cages may pass through the firewall. The firewall must be sealed. Aerodynamics Aerodynamic aids are unrestricted with the exception of cars utilizing mechanical force to create a low pressure area under the vehicle. Engine Nitrous systems are not permitted. Leaded fuels are not permitted. Methanol is not permitted. Vehicles fitted with sideways or rearward-facing exhaust outlets. If rearwards, the outlet/s shall be between 100mm and 450mm above the ground and shall not protrude more than 150mm beyond the rearmost portion of the vehicle. If directed sideways, the outlet/s must be located rearward of the midpoint of the wheelbase. In any case, they shall not project beyond the maximum width of coachwork or terminate more than 50mm within the plan view of the adjacent coachwork. Interior All vehicles must be equipped with a full length dashboard Tyres All vehicles must use tyres off the following list. No Open Wheel vehicles, Clubman or Kit cars allowed, as determined by the Promoter. All vehicles must have four (4) wheels with the steering acting on the front wheels only. Vehicles are limited to one engine. No centre steer vehicles allowed. If in the case of company owned vehicles the driver must be a company employee and produce a written letter from the director of the company showing approval to race the vehicle. The driver may also need to produce a group certificate from the employer. No Pro drivers. (This includes anyone who has been paid a wage or salary or is deemed to be a professional driver by the promoter) will be allowed to drive in Clubsprint Class. Vehicles All Vehicles must be available for purchase from a major manufacturer currently/previously as a factory OEM vehicle. No Open Wheel vehicles, Clubman or Kit cars allowed, as determined by the Promoter. All vehicles must have four(4) wheels with the steering acting on the front wheels only. Vehicles are limited to one engine. No centre steer vehicles allowed. No rear engine 6 Cylinder or above vehicles allowed. Vehicle Modifications All Vehicles must be presented as manufactured unless stated below. Body
8 All convertible type vehicles must be equipped with a hard top or a roll cage that complies with AASA Standing Regulations. The use of a Carbon or FRP Bonnet and Rear Wing is permitted. The use of an FRP Front Bar, Rear Bar, Side Skirts and Bonnet is permitted. Carbon and FRP Guards, Doors, Boot Lids and Roofs are NOT permitted. Engine Engine modifications are free with the following exceptions. Vehicles must retain their originally designated engine and configuration. EG; if your vehicle came from the manufacturer with a Naturally Aspirated SR20 then it must retain this engine and aspiration. OEM engine mount points must be utilized. OEM engine configuration must be utilized. All vehicles must use unleaded or E85 fuel. Nitrous systems are not permitted. All vehicles must have a full exhaust system exiting after the rear axle and compliant with AASA regulations. Transmission An OEM Gearbox casing must be utilized. For example, a Nissan vehicle must retain an OEM Nissan Gearbox Casing. OEM Transmission mount points must be utilized. Aftermarket Gear sets are permitted. Driveline OEM Diff casings must be utilized. For example, a Nissan vehicle must retain an OEM Nissan Diff Casing. OEM Driveline configuration must be retained (2WD, 4WD). OEM Driveline mount points must be utilized. Aftermarket diff centre s are permitted. Suspension OEM suspension mount points must be utilized. Coil Over suspension kits are permitted. Aftermarket suspension arms are permitted. Brakes Brake modifications are free with the following exceptions OEM mount points must be utilized. Tyres All vehicles must run on Tyres with a UTQG rating higher than 120. If the tyres fitted to your vehicle have a UTQG rating under or equal to 120 you may be moved into the Open Class or refused entry entirely. Wheels Wheels size is unrestricted. Interior Interior must remain as it came from the factory with the following exceptions Front seats may be replaced with an approved seats. Rear seats may be removed. Carpet may be removed. Stereo may be removed. Air conditioning may be removed. Local modification to interior for fitment of a roll cage is allowed.

Vehicles must be fitted with two separate fasteners on any front-opening panel All vehicles must be equipped with a battery triangle All vehicles must be equipped with a front & rear tow point All Vehicles must be equipped with a Approved 4 Point Harness as a minimum. All vehicles must be equipped with a driver s seat that allows correct fitment of the harness. All Vehicles must be equipped with factory fitted brake lights working Miscellaneous All vehicles must have the World Time Attack windscreen banner in place for the period of the event. All vehicles must apply supplied Event Sponsor decals as per promoter s instruction. 16. Scrutiny Requirements. a) All vehicles must comply with AASA Standing Regulations. The following: 1. Fire extinguisher to be a minimum 1kg and fitted within reach of the driver 2. Blue triangle, 150mm on each side mounted to indicate battery location 3. Secondary method for fastening the bonnet. 4. All forward facing glass lenses to be completely covered by a protective film 5. All loose objects are to be removed from the car 6. The battery is to be firmly clamped 7. Vehicles that have been issued with a AASA Vehicle Passport must present the Vehicle Passport at Registration and Scrutineering. 8. All Vehicles must be equipped with a minimum mid mounted brake light in the rear windscreen or factory fitted brake lights working in Pro & Open Class and factory fitted brake lights working in Clubsprint Class 9. Vehicle must be fitted with protection between engine and driver s compartment to prevent the passage of flame; 10. Vehicle must be constructed to minimise the entry of foreign matter into the driving compartment from the road or road wheels 11. Vehicle to have any propeller shaft and universal joints, if passing through the cockpit, fitted in a fixed casing; 12. Vehicle must have any driving chain effectively guarded 13. Vehicle must have each fuel tank vented externally to the bodywork 14. Any window or windscreen fitted made from a material which is clear or, if tinted, compliant with Australian Standards AS Vehicle must have any container within the cockpit which can hold more than 500mL of hot liquid (other than a series heater core) enclosed in a sealed compartment 16. Vehicle which is fitted with rigid brake pipes have such pipes made of steel [ Bundy tubing or equivalent], The installation must be such to protect the pipes against vibration and damage; 17. Any camera/video recorder attached to the automobile must be securely mounted to the roll cage with approved brackets by the Chief Scruitneer 18. Vehicles must be fitted with two separate fasteners on any front-opening panel
10 19. Vehicles need to be constructed that any longitudinal propeller shaft shall be protected from striking the ground; 20. Vehicles need to be fitted with a return mechanism which in the event of any throttle linkage failure will close each throttle; 21. Vehicles fitted with a driver-operable reverse gear 22. Vehicles must be fitted with a bulkhead constructed from a flame- and liquid-proof material. If the material is clear it shall be a minimum of 6mm thick. This bulkhead shall effectively seal the cockpit from the fuel tank or re-fuelling system 23. Vehicles must be fitted with a steering wheel not incorporating any wood, unless such is the original component of the automobile b) Competition numbers are to be positioned on both sides of the vehicle, and must be of a contrasting colour to the surrounding bodywork. They must comply with the current AASA Standard as to size etc. c) Drivers and vehicles must be presented in a clean and tidy manner completely ready for the track including the driver s apparel and helmet. Any tyre or component changes to the vehicle after scrutineering must be approved by the Chief Scrutineer before the vehicle is taken onto the track d) Any vehicle found to be leaking oil or fluids whilst competing will be suspended from the event until the Chief Scrutineer / Clerk of Course is satisfied that action has been taken to rectify the leak. Should there be a re-occurrence of the leak then the vehicle will be excluded from the remainder of the event. e) All vehicles must be fitted with towing hooks or a similar device both front & rear to allow for the speedy removal of a vehicle from a sand trap or removal from the circuit in the case of a mechanical failure. A sticker will be issued confirming that the vehicle has passed scrutineering prior to it being able to compete. The Promoter or the promoter s delegated representative will be the sole judge of eligibility for the categories. 17. Noise. Maximum Noise Limit: 95 dba at 30 metres. Any automobile found to exceed the maximum noise emission limit will be suspended from the event until the Clerk of Course is satisfied that action has been taken to bring the automobile it within the limit. Any vehicle that exceeds the limit on two runs will be excluded from the remainder of the event. If a vehicle exceeds the noise limit on any lap or laps within a run then only those laps in which the vehicle conformed to the requirements will be allowed for the purpose of the results 18. Pre-Event Scrutiny at Circuit Start time 12pm Thursday 9 th August Finish Time: 5pm Start Time: 8am Friday 10 th August Finish time 10.00am Note: The driver must attend scrutiny personally so that their driving apparel can be checked
11 19. Drivers Briefing The briefing will be compulsory and will be held at 8.15am on Friday 10 th August in a venue on track to be advised. It is compulsory for ALL Drivers to attend. Scrutiny will cease whilst the Drivers Briefing is in progress. A Driver sign-on sheet must be completed by all Drivers to prove Briefing attendance, failure to sign on will result in penalties being applied by the Clerk of Course of the Meeting. 20. Demonstrations Drift Demonstration will be taking place during the lunch break on Friday 10 th & Saturday 11 th August. Each Drift demonstration will comprise of 4 laps around the circuit between turn 9 to turn 12 only. Not to be done along the pit straight. A maximum of 4 cars will be demonstrating and will be selected by the promoter and will be briefed by the clerk of course 21. Passengers Passengers are only permitted if they have been approved by the Clerk of Course and are only permitted in vehicles that the Clerk of Course has approved. Passengers are permitted in Passenger Only Sessions they must not be on the track during Driver only sessions. When the permit is issued and the following conditions must be complied with. All passengers, including those who have signed an entry form, must sign the appropriate Passenger in Vehicle Indemnity Form. Passengers and drivers MUST wear protective clothing as in AASA -Standing Regulations) covering from the neck to the wrist to the ankles. Closed shoes are to be worn, no thongs or sneakers. All vehicles must comply with the relevant discipline Standing Regulations and be fitted with all appropriate safety equipment, including seats and harnesses, which must be worn at all times by the passenger while in the car. The vehicle is driven by a person approved by the Clerk of the Course who holds both a Motorsport Licence and Civil drivers licence. Persons under the age of 18 years may be passengers only at the discretion of the Clerk of Course. The minimum age for a passenger shall be no less than the minimum age for a driver in the event. Persons under the age of 14 years MAY NOT BE PASSENGERS. In all cases, for passengers under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign the appropriate disclaimer. No competition driving may take place. The vehicle must be kept to significantly less than competition speeds. All other relevant requirements of the NCR are complied with (eg track is operated in compliance with AASA requirements, the vehicle is scrutineered etc.) 21.1 DISCLAIMER A disclaimer has been prepared for Passengers in Vehicles.. This disclaimer covers all passenger in vehicle activity, whether it be a promotional day, gift or prize. A verbal warning will be given at the time the indemnity is signed. The organiser should ensure that they :- verbally advise the passenger that accidents can and often do happen and that motor sport is dangerous; and obtain from the participants a verbal acknowledgement: that accidents may happen; the possible extent of injuries and that they appreciate the likelihood and nature of these injuries. Get the participant to complete the Disclaimer.
12 22. Car Show This event will incorporate a show and shine style static car show. Any prizes to be given will be at the sole discretion of the promoters. 23. On Track Entertainment There will be on track entertainment provided under their own insurance on Friday 10th and Saturday 11 th of August. 24. Event Schedule. See attached Schedule in further regs 25. Replacement Vehicles. At the sole discretion of the Clerk of the Course and the Promoter, a Driver whose vehicle has broken down may use a replacement vehicle. The replacement vehicle must have been scrutineered, and preferably be in the same class and type as the original vehicle. Where the original vehicle has recorded a time and the scrutineered replacement is not in the same class and type as the original vehicle, the replacement vehicle will not be eligible for prizes and/or trophies. 26. Timing Equipment and Accuracy Timing will be electronic and to an accuracy of.01 seconds. 27. Results A set of results will be available to all competitors within 5 days of the event. Results will be available on the natsoft.com.au website. Competitors requiring a hard copy of the results can request them on the day. 28. Authority of Officials. Any competitor not following a reasonable instruction by an official during the Event may be excluded at the discretion of the Clerk of Course of the Meeting. 30. Medical Facilities. (Please Detail) Paramedical Services with 2 suitably qualified medical staff and Fully Equipped Ambulance 31. Crash Rescue and Fire Fighting Facilities AASA accredited Fire Marshalls and appropriate vehicles 32. Insurance. Any protests must be made in accordance with the National Competition Rules (NCRs) of AASA. 35. Postponement / Abandonment / Cancellation. The organisers reserve the right to postpone, abandon or cancel the Event in accordance with the NCRs 36. Illegal drugs ( prohibited drugs ) and Alcohol During any event, consumption of alcoholic beverages in the paddock, pits or any other portion of the competition venue under the control of the officials is expressly forbidden until all practice or competition activity is concluded for each day. Any driver or crew member who is found to be affected by alcohol on the day of the event or practice therefore shall not be permitted to participate. Refer to NCRS of AASA. Competitors, crews or officials may be randomly tested for alcohol or other drugs at any time during the event(s). 37. Refreshment Facilities available. Kiosk will be open. 38. Additions and/or Alterations. Any additions and/or alterations to these Supplementary Regulations will be notified to all Drivers in Further Regulations or during the Drivers Briefing.
