As we see it, it s all about constantly setting new standards in technology and usability. 325 years later, this approach is stronger than ever and it has made us the global leader in outdoor power products and a world leader in the construction and stone industries. Our wide and growing product range includes everything from chainsaws and power cutters to robotic lawnmowers and demolition robots. Leading chainsaw development since Consistently setting new standards for efficient mowing. In the 16th century, wars raged across Europe resulting in increased weapons production in Sweden. Hydropower was required to carry out certain mechanical operations and in 1689, a drilling works was established beside the waterfalls in Huskvarna. This signalled the start of a long and successful period of manufacturing both military weapons and private firearms. Key factors in our success was our attention to detail and consistently high levels of quality control, which included test firing. When we began manufacturing sewing machines in 1872, we put our experience regarding the precision engineering of weapons to good use. This expertise in producing technically challenging products, such as weapons, proved to be a major advantage. The high quality of the small components and the overall reliable construction led to a long period of successful sales worldwide. At the end of the 19th century, when cooking was done in pots over an open fire, our engineers saw the potential for making cooking both easier and safer. In the existing foundry used mainly in the manufacturing of sewing machines we began developing and casting stoves. In 1877, we produced our first, patented cast iron wood burning stove, a success that lasted for decades. In the 1960 s, we revolutionised cooking again by launching a cupola shaped microwave oven a perfect combination of engineering and design witnessed the birth of the modern bicycle. We recognised the full potential of the bicycle and began producing them ourselves. In 1903, we introduced the motor velocipede (a bicycle equipped with a one cylinder engine) and shortly after, the motorcycle. Since then our motorcycles have, thanks to their reliable engines and construction, gone on to achieve great success worldwide, including top places in the cc class in the Paris-Dakar. When we launched our first chainsaw in 1959, its increased usability and reduced noise helped us set a new standard in chainsaw development. The powerful, light weight engines were directly inspired by our motorcycles; and so began an on-going journey of innovations, including LowVib anti-vibration, X-Torq engines, the TrioBrake safety system and AutoTune. These innovations, along with many others, have ensured consistently effective and reliable chainsaw work when it s needed most. Since we began manufacturing lawnmowers, we have pushed technological boundaries. From small, but effective improvements on manually operated lawnmowers to today s ride-on mowers with articulated steering and outstanding manoeuvrability. In 1995 we took a giant leap forward by introducing the solar powered robotic lawn mower SolarMower, a predecessor to the Automower. 20 years later, we have an entire range of robotic mowers.

It was just as fast as a petrol saw if not faster, to bring the tree down. After a recent product demo of the latest range of Husqvarna chainsaws there was one product that really caught my attention. It was their battery powered top handle climbing saw. I have been in the power-line vegetation clearing industry for 11 years and this was my first experience with a battery powered saw, so you could imagine I was a bit reluctant to believe that it was possible for a battery powered saw to be able to handle the type of work that we do in the field. But this product blew me away by how good it was. I was able to witness it being used from a cherry picker and cut down a tree in the same fashion that we would with a petrol powered saw but without the noise, smoke and fuel top-ups associated with 2 stroke saws. It was just as fast as a petrol saw if not faster to bring the tree down, because there was no stalling and no need to constantly be pull starting the saw each time you turn it off to talk to ground crews below.
