1 SECTION 7 SUMMARY OF 2010 EMISSION RESULTS The emission results for the Port of Long Beach 2010 Air Emissions Inventory are presented in this section. Table 7.1 summarizes the 2010 total port-related emissions in the South Coast Air Basin by category in tons per year. Table 7.1: 2010 Port-related Emissions by Category, tpy Category PM 10 PM 2.5 DPM NO x SO x CO HC Ocean going vessels ,921 1, Harbor craft Cargo handling equipment Rail locomotives Heavy-duty vehicles , Total ,400 1,921 1, Table 7.2 summarizes the 2010 total port-related GHG emissions including the CO 2 equivalent in metric tons per year. Ocean-going vessels (64%) and harbor craft (13%) contribute the highest percentage of DPM emissions among the port-related sources. OGV (59%) and heavy-duty trucks (14%) account for the majority of NO x emissions. Over 99% of the SO x emissions are attributed to ocean-going vessels. OGV (34%) and harbor craft (21%) account for the majority of CO emissions. OGV (56%) and harbor craft (16%) account for the majority of hydrocarbon emissions. OGV (40%) and heavy-duty trucks (36%) account for the majority of CO 2 emissions. Port of Long Beach 144 July 2011
2 Figure 7.1: 2010 Port-related Emissions by Category, % Another way to view the total emissions is in relation to whether they occurred inside the Port boundary or outside the Port boundary. Tables 7.3 and 7.4 show the distribution of Port-related emissions as it relates to the port boundary. Emissions from the following sources and activities occurred within the Port boundary: Harbor maneuvering and hotelling emissions from ocean-going vessels In-harbor emissions from harbor craft All cargo handling equipment emissions On-terminal and on-port on-road emissions from heavy-duty vehicles On-port emissions from rail including switching and line haul Emissions from the following sources and activities occurred outside the Port boundary: Transit emissions from ocean-going vessels between the breakwater and the SoCAB boundary. Emissions from harbor craft operating between the breakwater and the SoCAB boundary Off -port on-road emissions from heavy-duty vehicles up to the SoCAB boundary or first point of rest Off-port emissions from rail up to the SoCAB boundary or first point of rest Port of Long Beach 145 July 2011
