3 1. INTRODUCTION Traffic emissions was identified to be the major contributor in the total emissions of Al-Fayhaa. The objective of this study is to develop a sustainable mobility plan in order to reduce traffic emission levels. The developed computer model was used in analyzing current traffic conditions, forecast future traffic growth, and comparing variation in the mobility level of service and emission levels for different scenarios. 2. TRAFFIC SURVEY Figure 2.1 shows all 32 major intersections in the Fayhaa area, where new 2006 traffic counts at the most critical intersection 4, 12, 16, 20 and were used for model calibration and validation. 25 COMPARING TURNING MOVEMENT COUNTS AT KEY INTERSECTIONS TMC 20 TMC 16 TMC 12 Year 2020 Do Nothing Year 2020 With Ring Road 8. CONCLUSION With the construction of the proposed eastern and western ring roads the 2020 emission levels will be reduced by 15% compared to the do nothing scenario, nevertheless, the geographical distribution of traffic, due to mobility improvement (with the diversion of the high through traffic volumes that will be bypassed on the new ring roads and releifing city central district), will remarkably reduce emission densities in congested areas like the selected 3 intersections along Tripoli boulevard. ٢٤
