1 : Industry Overview GDP is expected to rise by 2.2% in 212 and expand by 2.1% in 213. Over the next 1 years to 221, GDP is predicted to grow on average by 2.8% a year. Manufacturing output growth is forecast to be higher than GDP growth over the next decade. Manufacturing output is expected to increase by 4.7% in 212 and expand by 3.3% in 213. Over the next 1 years to 221, manufacturing output is expected to grow on average by 3.3% a year. As a result, the share of manufacturing output in GDP is projected to rise from 12.% in 211 to 13.1% by 216 and rise from 13.1% in 216 to 13.2% by 221. Over the same period, the share of service sector output in GDP is expected to decline from 8.% in 211 to 78.9% in 216 and remain at 78.9% in 221. The three fastest growing sectors in manufacturing over the next decade will be motor vehicle bodies & parts, computers & office equipment and electronic components & boards. The slowest growing sectors will be garments etc, leather goods and tobacco. The overall value of industrial production in 211 was $1,674. billion at 2 prices. Within this, the largest sectors are utilities ($192.3 billion), food ($163.1 billion) and other extraction activities ($12.1 billion). By 216 industrial production will total $2,.3 billion (2 prices), rising to $2,316.8 billion by 221. The largest sectors in 221 will be electronic components & boards ($242.9 billion), utilities ($22. billion) and food ($189.6 billion). The share of consumption goods in total manufacturing output was 3.2% in 211: by 221 this is predicted to decline to 2.%. The share of investment goods is expected to increase to 38.7% from 33.3% over the same period, while the share of intermediate goods is forecast to fall from 36.% to 36.3%. Construction output is expected to increase by 8.9% in 212 and expand by 7.4% in 213. Over the 1 years to 221, construction output is expected to grow on average by.7% a year. Overall industrial production (manufacturing, extraction and utilities) is forecast to rise by 3.9% in 212 and expand by 2.9% in 213. This compares with an increase in world industrial production of 1.3% in 212 and rise of 2.1% in 213. Over the 1 years to 221, industrial production in US is expected to grow on average by 2.8% a year, compared with a growth rate of 2.2% a year for the world as a whole. As a result, the share of US in world industrial production should fall from 19.4% in 212 to 18.% by 216 and decline to 17.6% by 221. Services are expected to rise by 1.4% in 212 and expand by 1.8% in 213. Over the next 1 years to 221, services are predicted to grow on average by 2.7% a year.
