2 1. INTRODUCTION Version 1.3 Today, most Motorcycles and Scooters are using engine control by electronic technology with microprocessors. To determine the trouble is very difficult complex, you can't seen and diagnosis by "clinical" method such as conventional mechanical repair before. The ECM firmware repair is easiest if you have special tool for reinstallation or upgrade. - The sensors, actuators and electronic control unit will be information together by special electrical signals in an overall link and self-contained, so the repairs independent electronic is very difficult to do when you don't have tools. - One other way, electronic repairman for motorcycle and scooters very need to have signal simulator and tested pulses to confirm the their diagnosis is completely accurate before ordering multiple days for the purchase new replacement parts as sensors for ECT / EOT, MAF, MAP, TPS, O2S, CKP, IACV, Injectors and ECU. - Moreover, electronic repairman for motorcycle and scooters need to have signal pulse generator dedicated the motorcycle that is able to adjust in large range to check, diagnose, calibrate to repair hardware of electronic functional units as the ECU, solenoid valve continuous strip, electronic injectors, step motors... - To solve the problems mentioned above. CONNECTION DIAGRAM TO MOTOSCAN Version SIMULATE SIGNALS This function used to simulate INPUT and OUTPUT signals of ECM for almost PGM-FI/FI motorcycles NOTES: You supply power for MOTOBOX after connection with motorcycle is complete Step 1: Select SPECIAL TEST MODE menu from main interface of MOTOSCAN then press Select/ OK button 5

6 Step 2: Select SIGNAL SIMULATION menu then press Select/ OK, the screen display as below You use MT0006 LINK cable to connect between MOTOBOX and MOTOSCAN as below: 6

7 After you have completed this connection, please press Select/ OK button to continue. IMPORTANT NOTES: When you simulate ignition signal or CKP signal on motorcycle, you must remove the spark plug out of engine to have not ignition in the combustion chamber; incorrect ignition timing can cause mechanical troubles on motorcycles If MOTOSCAN don t communicate with MOTOBOX or MT0006-LINK cable is faulty or communicating between MOTOSCAN and MOTOBOX has been lost synchronization then the screen displays as below: 7

8 Step 3: The screen displays simulation signals. Press Shift Up/ Down button to view list of signals, you select signal type that you need simulate then press Select/ OK button. Example: CKP signal: Step 4: Use 4 or 6 button to increase or decrease value of electric pulse signal. Use knob on MOTOBOX to adjust voltage value of signal. Example: Decrease or increase engine speed 8

9 Step 5: Use the simulation signals to generate at output of MOTOBOX for diagnosis and ECU repair. You view below image: GND MAP, TP, TW, TA (0.2 5VDC/0,5A) IGPLS, INJ (20VDC/20A) CKP, VSS (12VDC/0,1A) IMPORTANT NOTE: Signals able to operate independently even when still supply power for MOTOBOX and then disconnect ET LINK cable with MOTOSCAN, this time technicians can use MOTOSCAN for other purposes. 9

4.2 ADJUST ODOMETER Version 1.3 4.2.1 Adjust Odometer This function used to adjust ODO value on LCD screen when you replace a new dashboard or odometer is faulty that you need edit new ODO value

10 4.2 ADJUST ODOMETER Version Adjust Odometer This function used to adjust ODO value on LCD screen when you replace a new dashboard or odometer is faulty that you need edit new ODO value equivalent with old ODO value to follow motorcycle using time and maintenance time. Step 1: Select CONNECT TO VEHICLE menu on MOTOSCAN screen and then press Select/ OK button: Step 2: Select DLC CABLE menu then press Select/ OK button, the screen displays list of motorcycle manufacturers: 10

11 Step 3: Select manufacturer (Example: HONDA) then press Select/ OK button. The screen displays connection guide to motorcycle. You could ignore this report then press Select/ OK button to continue because at ODO adjusting function you need not connect MOTOBOX to motorbike that connect to EEPROM. Step 4: Select market of HONDA manufacturer (Example: LEAD 125 Viet Nam, You select VIET NAM menu) then press Select/ OK button. Step 5: Screen display list of motorcycle models. Select model to adjust. (Example: LEAD 125) then press Select/ OK button 11

12 NOTES: You must choose right motorcycle model. If you select wrong model when you load data, data inside EEPROM will be wrong and is the cause of failed software inside odometer. Step 6: The screen displays function table. Press Shift Down button to select ODO CORRECTION function then press Select/ OK button. 12

13 Step 7: The screen display as below: Version 1.3 Use ET0006 LINK cable to connect between MOTOBOX and MOTOSCAN then press Select/ OK to continue. If MOTOSCAN do not communicate with MOTOBOX or MT0006-LINK cable is faulty or communicating between MOTOSCAN and MOTOBOX has been lost synchronization then the screen displays as below: 13

14 If the memory card is faulty or do not have memory card in MOTOBOX then the screen displays as below: You need check memory card then contact to DTDAuto to be supported. In case of the screen displays as below, you need contact to DTDAuto to be supported and updated data. 14

15 Step 8: The screen display IC type of odometer. Example: IC type is 93C66. You must remove dashboard, determine position of weld points on circuit board as guide image at MOTODATA software : 15

16 You use solder machine to solder connectors of ODO cable with solder points on circuit board of odometer then press Select/ OK. 16

18 Step 9: The screen displays function table. Press ^/v button to select CORRECT ODO VALUE menu then press Select/ OK button Step 10: The screen displays meter value that you need change. Press ^/v button to change ODO value and then press Select/ OK button. If the screen displays as below: 18

19 You need check the solder connection between auxiliary circuit board (ODO BOARD) and IC, IC plugs and solder pin position of IC. Step 11: If odometer adjustment is successful, the screen will display as below: You remove solder wirings, reinstall dashboard on motorcycle and check new ODO value. NOTE: - If you do not have motorcycle to check adjusted ODO value then you look up power pin diagram of odometer in MOTODATA software and supply power to odometer to check ODO value. - If adjustment value is not incorrect such as expected then check motorcycle model and to do back from Step Write ODO original data - When you check odometer, if you see clockwise do not change or meter do not display numeric value then original data of meter can be fail, you need use Write original data function to repair data in odometer - Repeat from step 1 to step 8 of Adjust Odometer item then select Write origin data function and press Select/ OK button. 19

20 Wait few seconds until the screen display as below: 4.3 UPGRADE MCU FOR ECM OF HONDA, PIAGGIO, YAMAHA This function used to program or upgrade software inside MCU (firmware) of HONDA, PIAGGIO and YAMAHA motorcycles. - HONDA: AIRBLADE 125, LEAD 125, SH MODE 125, VISION PIAGGIO/VESPA: ECM types are IC AC19I/AC20I/AC24I/AC25I/AC27I/ AC32I, MIU G3/RIU1 and ECM PGN04/PGS02/PGT01 20

21 Step 1: - Use ET0006 LINK cable to connect MOTOBOX and MOTOSCAN - Use DLC cable to connect MOTOBOX and DLC connector on motorcycle Version 1.3 Step 2: Select Connect to vehicle menu from the main interface of screen and then press Select OK. Step 3: Select DLC cable menu and then press Select/ OK button, the screen displays motorcycle manufacturers: 21

22 Step 4: Select manufacturer (Example: HONDA) then press Select/ OK. Step 5: The screen displays connection guide to motorcycle. You check the connection between DLC cable and DLC diagnostic connector on motorcycle. If your connection is exactly then press Select/ OK to continue: The screen displays list of HONDA markets. You press Shift up and down button to select market (Example: Vietnam) then press Select/ OK. 22

23 Step 6: The screen displays list of motorcycle models (Example: LEAD 125). Press Select/ OK button: Press Shift Down button to select UPGRADE ECM menu, then press Select/ OK. 23

24 Step 7: The screen displays as below: You ignore this report and press Select/ OK to continue because MOTOBOX connected to MOTOSCAN. Step 8: When MOTOBOX connected to ECM of motorcycle, the screen displays software version inside ECM and software version inside MOTOBOX. 24

25 If software version in MOTOBOX is newer version in ECM of motorcycle then you should update a new version for ECM. If software version in MOTOBOX like as version in ECM of motorcycle that ECM software is faulty then you need update software for ECM. Step 9: After you check software version in memory card, the screen display as below: If you want update data for ECM then you press Select/ OK button. Step 10: The screen displays the request: 25

26 NOTE: When you are programming ECM, you do not turn off ignition key or disconnect battery. These can make error data inside ECM so you must check power before program ECM, then press Select/ OK to continue. Step 11: The screen displays data loading progress into ECM by percentage: If upgrading ECM is successful then the screen displays as below: 26

27 If upgrading ECM is not successful then the screen displays as below Version 1.3 You check connection and repeat the checking steps. How to fix: - Disconnect DLC cable between DLC diagnostic connector on motorcycle and MOTOBOX - Reset the supply power for MOTOBOX (unplug power cable for 30 seconds then reconnect) - Turn OFF and turn ON ignition key then reconnect DLC cable NOTES: You turn off and turn on ignition key to have finished upgrading ECM (this is obligatory). 27
