22 Troubleshooting If you encounter problems operating the uastro2 Massage Chair, please check the following points to see if they can be rectified. If the uastro2 Massage Chair still malfunctions or does not work, please switch off the Main Switch of the uastro2 Massage Chair and remove the power plug from the electrical outlet. Contact Brookstone Customer Service at for servicing. Do not dismantle or attempt to repair the uastro2 Massage Chair yourself. Doing so will void the warranty and Brookstone will not bear any responsibility for any subsequent consequences. Problem Friction noise of rollers against seat cover. Motor sound during operation. Loud sound during Tapping and Kneading program. Operation stopped and the massage rollers moved to their original position. Possible cause/action These sounds are the result of mechanical structure and not malfunction. This may occur during normal usage. The Auto-Timer of 15 minutes has lapsed. Press any program button to restart the massage. The uastro2 is equipped with a thermal resetting protection device. This is an added safety feature to protect your massage chair from overheating. The [ ] button was pressed accidentally. If the uastro2 stops and fails to restart as a result of overheating, turn off the main power switch and do not operate the uastro2 for at least 30 minutes. Failure to do so may result in the chair resuming operation unexpectedly when the device is cooled down. The controller does not work correctly. The uastro2 does not start operation. Check the power plug and ensure that it is securely connected to the electrical outlet. Check the connection at the back of the uastro2. Ensure that the main power switch is turned on. Ensure that the main power switch is turned on and the switch on the electrical outlet is turned to on position. Ensure that the power plug is firmly connected to the electrical outlet. Check that the voltage of the electrical outlet is adequate. 20

23 Troubleshooting (continued) Problem The massage rollers stop during the massage. The massage rollers have moved to the upper position. The right and left rollers are not positioned horizontally. The backrest and leg rest can not be reclined/raised and retracted/extended. Beeping sound and LED indicators blinking on the controller. The air massage stops when the chair is reclined. Possible cause/action The roller mechanisms may be strained when subjected to excessive force. Try to reduce pressure added on the rollers. When the massage program finishes, the rollers will automatically return to the storage position (upper position of the backrest). To continue with the massage, press the power button on the controller again. This is the result of alternate tapping by right and left rollers and this is normal. Ensure that no objects are caught behind the backrest or leg rest that can cause the safety reclining sensors to be activated. Remove and reconnect the AC plug to the electrical outlet. For safety reasons, the air massage will stop when adjustments are made to the backrest recline angle. This is not a defect. 21
