3 6. REFERENCE AND RELATED DOCUMENTS 6.1 ScottishPower Technical Specifications BATT Issue 8: Auxiliary D.C. Power Supplies for Primary & Secondary Substations 48V Battery Chargers for 33 kv Substations. 30V and 48/30V Sealed Lead/Acid Batteries and Chargers for 11/6.6 kv Substations. 110V Battery and Charging Equipment for 33 kv Substations and 11/6.6 kv Substations. BATT Issue 1: 48 V and 110 V D.C. power supply systems in SP 400kV / 275k /220kV and 132kV substations 7. STANDARD REQUIREMENTS Distribution substations batteries and chargers are required to comply with BATT (In addition lead acid batteries to comply with IEC and BS6290 Part 2, SLA/VRLA to comply with BS6290 Part 4 and BS EN and BS EN ). Transmission substations and Grid Supply Point sites, chargers and batteries are required to comply with BATT Installation testing specifications BS 6290 Part 2 and BS EN Where Batteries offered are manufactured to an alternative standard (e.g. DIN standard), the battery can still be considered for use but its performance in relation to clauses in the BS6290 when go beyond the alternative standard must be considered prior to approval. 8. APPROVED SUPPLIERS AND EQUIPMENT 8.1 Batteries The only batteries technologies approved for use within SP-EN are; Valve Regulated Lead Acid (V.R.L.A.) AGN and Gel types Flooded Lead Acid (High Reliability Planté) Flooded Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) Batteries approvals relate to series types. Only batteries in the specific ranges listed for manufacturers approved can be used. All alternative batteries offered are subject to separate approval prior to use. All Batteries Series Approved are listed in the Appendix Chargers All Charger s who have demonstrated that they are capable of manufacturing chargers to SP requirements are listed in Appendix 2. Specific Chargers Models created and approved for recent applications are listed. Some aspects of Battery and Chargers solutions (e.g. distribution requirements) are bespoke manufactured for specific applications requirements however core equipment and principles of operation may not deviate from SP Power Systems Limited Page 3 of 9

4 previously approved equipment. Where specific charger offered is not listed, it shall be subject to individual approval prior to use and addition to register for all aspects of the design which have not previously been assessed. 8.3 Battery Alarm Systems All Battery Alarm systems approved for use are listed in Appendix 3.Where specific Battery Alarm Unit is not listed is shall be subject to approval prior to use.
