3 New carriages under construction. Over the last 2 months the miniature railway has been constructing 4 new passenger cars for our passengers to ride on. This involves a lot of work and preparation before the final assembly of the carriages takes place, after all the more preparation and time taken before hand makes for a better product in the long run and your work pays off. All the parts were measured, cut and checked at peters workshop before being taken to the club carriage for assembly. Picture showing sides being constructed on the carriage jig photo P. Christian

4 Once the parts arrive at the club, all the bits are sorted and construction begins. Over time, peter has constructed a number of jigs to make life easier for us, so all the parts are clamped onto these jigs, which also insures that all carriages remain the same in design and construction. Steven has been busy welding the bogies to hold the wheel/axle assembly, and Fred has been welding the sides up and final assembly. Fred welding the running board ends on.

5 Planned additions Over the next 2 working bees, which are held on the 2 nd Saturday of the month, we will be adding to new watering areas for steam locos, this addition will be very useful in the coming minimeet held in may next year as it will allow steam locos to take on coal and water away from the diesel loco refueling areas. These additions will be valuable when it is required to get water to steam locos in a hurry. This work will require a full day with many meters of ground to be dug out, piping connected and laid, checked for leaks then all the dirt filled back in, all in one day. The next addition we are looking at is a stabling siding near the back bridge, this would require a new set of points to be inserted just before coming onto the bridge and a siding laid toward the corner. This addition will be very valuable in clearing the line of any broken down trains to allow running to continue with a minimum of disruption. Another addition in the pipeline is the construction of a new carriage shed to stable more trains in a ready to run condition. There are a number of options being explored at the moment including a second shed next to our current one, a larger shed constructed at an angle or a 40 foot shipping container which would be easier for all concerned as it would be removable if required. A decision will be made in the near future by all parties concerned. Some carriages undergoing maintence checks. One of the wheels for the new carriages.

Steven has a number of locos and rolling stock items, these include: 17 Nala with a 2.5 hp honda 98 Kovu with a 5 hp honda 18 Koda with watt electric motors Coolum with a 2.5 hp Honda 7002 with a 500 watt electric motor X214 with a 500 watt electric motor 7002 and x214 are capable of being put under multiple unit control Future additions on the drawing board: A 4 car T angara set A vertical boilered clishay steam loco to be named 01 KIARA Other items include: A 4 wheeled driving carriage A driving/passenger car for electric locos 6 standard passenger cars The passenger carriages are going to be undergoing a complete overhaul and a repaint into the Tuscan colour scheme of deep Indian red with yellow striping, decals will be added to make these carriages more realistic looking such as windows/doors and car numbers.
