You can see the starting point is the flat with the tall, metal roof, mid train. Here is the AMS short flt, with center beam cut out for battery space, 9V:

10 Page 10 of 19 OK, I built a workbench, got parts from Ozark ans Western Scale Models and started making the Blacksmith Shop. Forge was made from a Pola chimney that was left over, added a crank blower, red LED for the fire and some real coal. Buckets of sand for fire prevention.

16 Page 16 of 19 I put an LED in the ceiling with a small connector next to a post to allow the top to be removed

17 Page 17 of 19 I have a figure to paint and a few more parts to add. Next up is a open side, metal roof, kitchen car with stove, counter, storage and food stuff. My dad and I were talking last week about doing something simular to this...well the whole string of small kitbashed 2 axel cars. Now that is really something. I will have to get dad on here to look.

Also, how did you paint your wood handles on the sledge hammers? I really like that color, it looks realistic. I have been trying to find just the right color and that looks like it. Steve Reply author: jmkling Replied on: 31 Oct :00:37 Carl, You can see other photo's of the work train here: I start with AMS short flat cars, they cost about $50 for a pair and make a great starting point. Key is to have fun and just get started. Steve, The hood for the forge was made from styren with a brass tube. The top is the bottom of a oil lanturn I had laying around. Taking a nice car and turning it into somehting else like that is amazing! I've also noticed you've got a two tier trestle display track that a few of the shot were taken on? Can you shed some light on that as well? I've been thinking of something like that lately to replace the clutter on top of our entertainment center.
