7 LJ6100A 1 MILLIOHMETER LJ6100A C27J BONDING TEST SET CARGO DOOR AND LOADING RAMPS LJ6100A 1.1 Backgrounds The LJ6100A milliohmeter is mainly designed to the ohmic resistance of aircrafts body cells and their ground loop, in compliance to procedure AIR2025. It allow two test currents: 10 A having three automatic measurement ranges: 5 mohms, 50 mohms, 500 mohms. 1 A having three automatic measurement ranges: 50 mohms, 500 mohms, 5000 mohms. These ranges have been designed to fulfill the procedure AIR2025, in particular: Up to some hundreds of µohms between two points in the structure. Up to 10 mohm between the structure and all the metal objects on thunderstorm path without discharging to ground. Up to 5 mohm, with a ground loop of 10 A. Up to 1 mohm, with a ground loop of 100 A. Up to 100 µohm, with a ground loop of more than 100 A. Measurement of such resistance value must be made over a voltage difference of some volts in direct current. The possibility of measure these value with high accuracy is really important to exclude any interference on aircrafts due to the fact ground is used to balance aerials and other circuits such as the evaluation current flux circuit for electrostatic charges in case of thunderstorms. 12 Usage 2 Usage 2.1 Starting procedure 1. The automatic milliohmeter is switched of pressing the ON/OFF switch. It will turn off automatically after 10 minutes without any operation by the user. 2. At startup, the BATTERIE indicator is turned on and the display will shows the battery voltage. It has to be above 10.7 V, otherwise the instrument will turn off automatically. Usage 3. The CALIBRAGE indicator is turned on after few seconds. The milliohmeter is auto-calibrating. 4. At the end of calibration, the MESURE indicator start to blink. 5. The system is ready for a measurement. 2.2 Calibration check procedure using test resistor LJ6130 Figure 2: Calibration process with resistor LJ6130 To be executed before any measurement session: 1. After the starting procedure, connect the probe cables to the proper connectors. 2. Put the resistor LJ6130 on an flat surface. 3. Use the probes as shown in Figure 2 and press with force. 4. The system will perform the measurement, detected value should be included between and mohm. 5. Please continue only if a correct value has been detected, otherwise contact the assistance tel / / /

13 Usage 2.3 Measurement procedure 1. Plug probes to their connectors. 2. Select measurement current by means of (F) button 1 A / 10 A. 3. Connect at best probes to the measurement points of Rx. 4. Measurement starts: the MESURE indicator light up and the instrument emits a sound. 5. Keep probes pressed until another sound is emitted. 6. The measurement is showed and stored. 7. Next measurement could be performed only when MESURE indicator start to blink again. Usage 8. A short push (0,2 s) on (F) button inverts the current direction. 14 Maintenance and Errors 3 Maintenance and Errors Maintenance and Errors Since the instrumentation is used to verify the correct installation of flying systems it should be controlled by the manufacturer once or (better) twice a year. The manufacturer is able to check internal circuits for functionality and correct impedance and isolation. Please refer to LEANE International for detailed periodical check procedures. 3.1 Battery charge If turning on the system the battery voltage is below 10.7V please recharge it as follow: 1. Turn off the instruments. 2. Connect the battery charger (3) at the connector (I) on the front panel. 3. On the battery charger a multicolor LED show the charge status. The LED can assume the following status: YELLOW : battery not connected. ORANGE : rapid charge. YELLOW/GREEN : close to full charge. GREEN: full charge, the battery charger can be unplugged. ORANGE/GREEN: error during recharge.
