2 Taking care of your Subaru This booklet contains infmation about your Subaru s 3 year unlimited vehicle warranty a schedule to help keep it in shape. On page 23 you ll find your Subaru s identification details. These are all you need to access your vehicle warranty, so please keep this infmation safe. Your warranty is only valid if you get your Subaru d as specified, so follow the enclosed schedule on page 11. When it s time f a, take your Subaru to your local Subaru Authised Dealer. They have the best Subaru technicians, tools, genuine parts know-how, so you can be confident it ll be in the best hs. 3 Subaru warranty Vehicle Warranty Subaru vehicles are guaranteed f a period of 3 years with unlimited kilometres from the date of first registration against any manufacturing fault defective materials. This date is entered on the Vehicle Identification Certificate positioned front inside cover of this warranty booklet which is supplied with the new vehicle. The Subaru warranty does not affect the statuty rights of the owner of the vehicle is in addition to any other remedies which he she may have under the contract of sale. If, despite proper treatment regular maintenance in accdance with the manufacturer's specifications, any defect occurs in facty material wanship in the vehicle within the period of 3 years from the date of first supply, delivery registration (whichever occurs first), it will be rectified free of charge by any Subaru Authised Dealer. Not all repairs adjustments result from parts defective in facty material wanship. There are other circumstances which may make wkshop attention necessary f which a charge may be made. These circumstances depend mainly on where the vehicle is driven include weather atmospheric conditions, varying road surfaces, individual driving habits vehicle usage. Genuine Parts Accessies Warranty There is no better way to keep your Subaru wking as it should uphold its value than to insist on fitting only Subaru genuine parts during repair wk. The use of genuine parts also ensures your new vehicle warranty will not be compromised by the use of nongenuine parts. There are three different warranty terms f genuine parts accessies. If your accessies are fitted to your new Subaru vehicle pri to delivery, they will carry the same warranty as the new vehicle (3 years/unlimited ). If Subaru genuine parts accessies are sold installed by a Subaru Authised Dealer they are warranted f 2 years/unlimited from the installation date. Lastly, Subaru genuine parts accessies that are sold over the counter not installed by a Subaru Authised Dealer are warranted f 12 months/20,000 from the date of purchase. 4 5

4 Warranty conditions All new Subaru vehicles impted into New Zeal by Subaru of New Zeal are covered by a comprehensive 3 year unlimited warranty during which time any Subaru Authised Dealer in New Zeal will be happy to attend to any parts defective in facty material wanship. Your Subaru Authised Dealer will also provide assistance advice on the crect operation use of your vehicle. However, the owner of the vehicle is responsible f ensuring that the vehicle is d in accdance with the maintenance schedule contained in this booklet. Any consequential, direct incidental loss damage is not covered by this warranty, any statuty other rights remedies available in connection with a claim f such loss damage should be pursued separately. WHAT IS NOT COVERED Repair, replacement adjustment under this warranty are not available f deteriation, defects, faults failures due to: Ordinary wear tear. Use of the vehicle f a purpose other than f which it was designed, having due care respect to the prevailing road, climate, other conditions. Wear tear caused by use of the vehicle f racing, rallying, speed trialing, hill climbing similar activities, competitive events. Modifications alterations which have not been approved by Subaru. Driver negligence, misuse abuse, e.g. tampering, disconnection, loading towing beyond Subaru s specifications, continuing to drive the vehicle after loss of fluids, lubricants, oils, coolants, refrigerants water. Accident, impact, fire water damage. A failure to have the vehicle d repaired in strict accdance with Subaru s specifications recommendations. Installation use of non-genuine parts / second h parts, accessies, equipment, assemblies components. A failure to have the vehicle repaired promptly in accdance with Subaru s recommendations following an accident other damage, after a defect becomes known is suspected. Use of non-recommended, inappropriate dirty fuel, oil, fluids, lubricants, coolants, refrigerants, water. Theft, illegal use, malicious damage by a third person. Any wk carried out on the vehicle by a person other than a Subaru Authised Dealer. A failure to maintain care f the vehicle, including its body trim paintwk in accdance with Subaru s recommendations, e.g. use of unsuitable cleaning agents. Environmental conditions including acid rain, industrial fallout, salt, s, stones, tree sap, bird animal droppings, windstm, hail, flood, lightning other acts of God. Repairs, replacement adjustment under this warranty are also not available: If the vehicle was purchased at auction. F maintenance parts used in connection with maintenance. F crosion other than that due to a defect in material manufacture. If it is not possible to determine with certainty whether the vehicle is out of warranty, due to the odometer reading having been altered. F any vehicle that has been written off. 6 7

5 The following list of items is provided as a guide to the owner of the type of items f which a charge will be made unless their failure is caused by a defect in material manufacture. The frequency of replacement will depend mainly on where the vehicle is driven include weather atmospheric conditions, varying road surfaces, individual driving habits vehicle usage. Spark Plugs: Periodic replacement as listed in the schedule is required to ensure maximum engine perfmance best fuel economy. Fuel Injects Induction System: The removal of deposits cleaning of injects may be required from time to time should be perfmed as necessary. Tyres: Are subject to wear. If there is a defect, the tyre manufacturer may be consulted, a charge will only be made f the amount of use obtained as an adjustment is made based on the remaining tread depth. This is known as the pro-rata method of adjustment. This warranty may not be varied by any person except with the consent in writing by Subaru of New Zeal. Owner responsibility Servicing: Lubrication maintenance servicing all parts replaced in line with the maintenance schedule in this hbook. Wheel Alignment Wheel Balancing: The frequency of these s depends on driving conditions such as rapid starts stops, tyre skidding, hitting pot holes curbs etc. Mechanical Adjustments: Including brakes, clutch, do locks, engine tuning, drive belts, headlamps, steering gear are required as a matter of nmal vehicle operation to ensure longevity. Wiper Blades: Will have a varied life expectancy. Replacement will depend on climatic conditions extent of use. Paint, Trim Other Appearance Items: Are affected by nmal wear tear, exposure to environmental conditions. Proper care as described in your Owner's Manual can add to their appearance durability. Damage imperfection in paint trim are nmally apparent during pre-delivery inspection. Please rept any imperfection to your Subaru Dealer immediately. A charge will be made f paint trim items which require attention due to such causes as: Body Rattles Squeaks: After 12 months 20,000, whichever should occur first, rectification of body rattles, squeaks, general tightening, adjustment of the fit of dos, bonnet boot etc. will be chargeable items. Suspension: Nmal wear tear of suspension steering components such as shock absbers, ball joints, bushes, driveshaft boots etc. Lighting Bulbs: Are subject to wear tear operational life depends on extent method of use. Brake Linings Clutch Components: Are directly affected by driving habits type of use, are wear tear items. The replacement of brake linings clutch components, the reconditioning of brake drums discs should be perfmed as required. Paint: Industrial fallout, tree sap, bird droppings, stone chipping, scratches, dents, salt. Trim & Carpet: Wn, soiled, tn, cut by feign object, damaged nmal use. 8 9

7 Points to Note: When a vehicle is used under severe driving conditions such as: Extremely hot cold weather Driving on dusty rough roads Living in coastal areas Regular towing of a trailer Repeated sht trips Living in mountainous areas Me frequent servicing may be required. Your Subaru Dealership is best qualified to advise how often this should occur but the intervals shown are the minimum requirement f safe vehicle operation. Lineartronic CVT transmissions do not require an oil change unless used f towing similar high load driving. In this case change transmission oil every 50,000. Subaru of New Zeal strongly recommends following the manufacturer s maintenance schedule to ensure preservation of the Subaru 3 year/unlimited warranty, proper operating condition, peak perfmance, safety, fuel economy efficiency. Subaru Global intervals may differ from the one recommended f NZ operated vehicles. Subaru of New Zeal follows the same schedule printed in the vehicle Owner's Manual with the main difference being the intervals f New Zeal are not 15, months as found in the manual, instead in New Zeal the intervals are 12, months, whichever occurs first. As such, use the months column in the maintenance interval table to crectly determine the appropriate operations f your Subaru. Additional differences include: Brake fluid: the maintenance schedule in the Owner's Manual advises brake fluid replacement every 24 months, however due to New Zeal conditions, Subaru of New Zeal recommend brake fluid to be inspected every 24 months replaced every 48 months, me frequently under severe driving conditions. Upper Engine Cleaner: Subaru of New Zeal recommend the use of Subaru Upper Engine Cleaner every 12 months 12,500 on models with Direct Injection Engines. F all models without Direct Injection Engines, Subaru Upper Engine Cleaner is recommended every 24 months 25,000. Please note, this product is not suitable f models equipped with Diesel Engines. Fuel additive: Subaru of New Zeal suggest the use of Subaru fuel additive every 12 months 12,500 to maintain peak perfmance between schedules. New Zeal Subaru vehicles with chain driven engines are required to receive a 5,000 3 month, whichever occurs first. The cost of this is covered by Subaru of New Zeal. Warning: This vehicle has been certified regarding compliance with all relevant New Zeal Vehicle Safety Rules. As such it is illegal to fit any replacement part accessy which does not allow the vehicle to continue with the requirements of the New Zeal Safety Rules. In servicing this vehicle, the use of Subaru genuine parts accessies will ensure that the iginal vehicle specification is maintained that the vehicle continues to comply with all certification requirements also meets Government regulations relating to vehicle safety environmental controls.
