6 ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS Myth Any vehicle can be recalibrated using an aftermarket solution. The CSC KIT CAMERA includes six new CSC-TOOL calibration panels, which extend the CSC-TOOL s coverage to vehicles from a total of ten manufacturers. So in addition to models from Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen Audi Group, workshops using the CSC-TOOL can now calibrate camera-based ADAS used by Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Lexus, Mazda, Nissan, Renault and Toyota. 7 LET S TALK ABOUT ADAS BUSTING THE MYTHS Busted Following a windscreen replacement it is necessary to calibrate the Toyota Safety Sense system in order to ensure the system performs according to its design specification. The ONLY Toyota approved method of calibration is to use Toyota Special Service Tools and Toyota s Repair Manual. Calibration is completed using specialist equipment which needs to be set up with absolute precision to ensure success. 15 LET S TALK ABOUT ADAS BUSTING THE MYTHS Busted Vehicle manufacturers specify that ADAS cameras require recalibration following replacement of the vehicle s windscreen. Autoglass is not able to provide that service for some vehicle types. Where we are not able to effect calibration following completion of a windscreen replacement, you may arrange for your vehicle s camera to be recalibrated at your own cost by an alternative supplier. 87 WLTP: what we know WLTP Regulations and what they mean for consumers starting to be published. See OEM sites and LowCarbonVehiclePartnership web site: ts/passenger-car-workinggroup/wlpt-impactsopportunities.htm WLTP will be introduced for cars on new type approvals from September WLTP will apply to all registered cars from September WLTP provides specific fuel consumption and CO2 values for individual vehicles reflecting the specification and optional equipment affecting those values apply to all registered cars from September Promoting responsible transport

88 WLTP: what we know Certificate of Conformity and Type Approval Certificate will contain NEDC (measured or correlated) and WLTP values for fuel economy, CO2, electricity consumption and range. Interpreting Information: for comparison purposes WLTP has low, medium, high and extra-high cycles plus combined and weighted combined. NEDC has urban, extra-urban plus combined and weighted combined. In order to ensure comparability the EU Commission recommends that at least the combined values of the applicable tests are available to consumers. It is accepted that WLTP values likely to be higher compared with NEDC values for the same vehicle. Research published by EC s Joint Research Centre to look at impact of WLTP provides some official assessments. See EUR From NEDC to WLTP: effect on type-approval CO2 emissions of light duty vehicles. Currently factors like aerodynamic influence of optional equipment ( CO2 or CO2) and additional weight of optional equipment (potentially CO2) are not currently considered for every vehicle model/derivative Other factors like driving style, number of persons in vehicle, etc. all affect CO2 emissions but do not feature in WLTP test procedures Promoting responsible transport

89 WLTP: what we know WLTP will be introduced for light commercial vans (new type approvals) from September 2018 and for all registered light commercial vans from September HM Treasury and HMRC have no plans to move the BIK or CCT tax system in foreseeable future. RDE testing does not test CO2 but air quality. Euro6d diesel comes in on 1 September The EU recommendations are for the maximum value for real-world driving air pollutants which is on the Certificate of Conformity to appear on the label at point of sale. It is likely to appear on V5C sometime next year. Promoting responsible transport

90 WLTP: what we are calling for: BVRLA proposes April 2021 is most appropriate date that WLTP data should be used for all future CO2 linked motoring taxation. HM Treasury and HMRC have no plans to move the BIK or CCT tax system in foreseeable future. EU CO2 target 95gms/km are set for 2021 based on NEDC data Company Car tax rates have been confirmed for 2021 based on NEDC data and BVRLA members are already writing business based on this outlook RDE stage 2 comes into effect in 2021 There is currently NO WLTP data in the marketplace. Data & Systems providers have no basis for determining systems changes. Nor do BVRLA members. We are speaking with SMMT and LCVP to achieve consensus on April 2021 date.
