27 Appendix C. Rate Engine: Other Uses: Finding Ratcheted Kilowatt Demand: Example: The Rate States:... shall be based on the customer s highest average 30-minute kilowatt demand in the current month and the preceding 5 months... (some rates say 11 months). 01). Click on the Facility or Meter that pertains to the rate with Ratcheted Kilowatt Demand. 02). Set the Date Range (From Date and Through Date) on the Load Profile Screen to the time period that you wish to search for. The below example covers a 6 month time period. 07/27/2002 is the Through(end) Date for the current month. 03). Click on the Compare expansion arrow which opens a selection window. 03a). Then Click on Aggregate. (This will automatically start the Refresh ). 04). Set the Load Profile to the proper Minutes in Rate s Demand Period : ( 1/4h(15 minutes) 1/2h(30 minutes) h(60 minutes) ). 04a). Click on the 1/2h Button (highest average 30-minutes). (This will automatically re-establish the Chart and tables). At this point we know the highest average 30-minute kilowatt demand(kw). 05). Click on the Statistics Button; the Statistics screen will display the kw Demand. Displays the Current 6 months 30 minute Demand, referred to as Ratcheted All Demand. To this point we know Ratcheted All Demand. Some rates require Ratcheted On-Peak Demand, and / or Ratcheted Mid-Peak Demand, and / or Ratcheted Off-Peak Demand. To find these other Demands we need to use the Rate Engine. 1). Click on the Tools Menu, Rate Option to display the Rate Engine Screen. 2). If this is your first rate, Click on the Save Button. Name the new rate RatchetCalc. otherwise: Select the rate that needs these Ratcheted Demand values; then 2a). Click on the Save As to copy this rate. Name this new rate RatchetCalc. 3). In this new RatchetCalc Rate: Set the Seasons Starting Dates; and set the Time Slots Starting/Ending Times for each Season. (these should already be set if you did a Save As on a rate that needs these Demand values). Rate Schedule Entry for the Load Profile Version 2.1 ( as of 04/30/2003) Page 26

30 Appendix D. Usage Charges, examples of: Example 1: Southwestern Public Service Company Large General Service; Amarillo, Texas The rate states: Energy Charge: 2.53 cents per kwh for the first 230 kwh used per month per kw of demand, or the first 120,000 kwh used per month, whichever is greater cents per kwh for the next 230 kwh used per month per kwh demand cents per kwh for all additional kwh per month. For the first block of kwh Usage: The equation reads: Question: {(AllDmd * 230) > }? If All-Demand multiplied by 230 is greater than 120,000 then AllDmd * 230 multiply All-Demand by 230 giving the block of kwh Usage : else the block of Usage will be 120,000 kwh. Example 1: If All Demand is kw: then times 230 = 61, , IS NOT greater than 120,000; therefore 120,000 is used for the first block. Note: Usage = 90, kwh. The Rate Report shows a charge of $2, Example 2: If All Demand is 3, kw: then 3, times 230 equal 716, , IS Greater than 120,000; therefore 716, is used for the first block. Note: Usage = 1,386, kwh. Also: 716, is also used for the second block ; ( 3, times 230 equal 716, ). The Rate Report shows a charge of $18, $16, = $34, Rate Schedule Entry for the Load Profile Version 2.1 ( as of 04/30/2003) Page 29
