1 2018 Summary of Eastern Massachusetts Electric Rates for Greater Boston Service Area Rates Effective: January 1, 2018 The following rates are available to our customers and have been approved by the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities. In addition to the Delivery Service Charges, to calculate your total bill you will also need to include the Supplier Services charge from your bill (Basic Service or a third-party competitive power supplier). A1 - Residential (R-1 - MDPU 120) This basic, general use rate is available to all residential customers for lighting, heating and other uses in residential premises. This rate may also apply for condominium common areas and buildings used exclusively for public worship. Distribution Charge (per kwh): $ Transmission Charge (per kwh): $ A2 - Residential Assistance (R-2 - MDPU 121) Without Electric Heat This discount rate is for residential customers who receive means-tested benefits such as: Transitional Assistance, SSI benefits, Fuel Assistance, or the Senior Pharmacy program. The rate is available only to qualified customers in individual private dwellings or individual apartments. A 27 percent discount will be applied to the total bill amount. Distribution Charge (per kwh): $ Transmission Charge (per kwh): $ A3 - Residential Assistance (R-2 - MDPU 121) With Electric Heat This discount rate is for residential customers who receive means-tested benefits such as: Transitional Assistance, SSI benefits, Fuel Assistance, or the Senior Pharmacy program. The rate is available only to qualified customers in individual private dwellings or individual apartments. A 25.7 percent discount will be applied to the total bill amount. 2 A4 - Residential Space Heating (R-3 MDPU 122) This heating rate is available to all residential customers with electric space heating throughout their home, as well as water heating. This rate may also apply for condominium common areas and buildings used exclusively for public worship. Peak is from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays from June through September; and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays October through May. Customers with a demand exceeding 12 kw in any month will be placed on rate B2.
