1 Appendix J Service Accomplishments FY2017 Service Accomplishments LYNX initiates service changes to improve system-wide efficiency three times each calendar year. During the review period for this TDP major update, those changes went into effect on December 2016, April 2017, and August These changes are summarized below. December 2016 Service Improvements The following major adjustments went into effect during the December 11, 2016 service change: Link 1: extension to serve Winter Park SunRail Station Link 61: modifications to serve Creative Village Link 212: extension to serve LYNX Central Station. serving all LYMMO stops along new alignment. 4 FY2017 Capital Program Accomplishments Several capital improvement projects have continued to progress throughout the 2017 fiscal year, moving LYNX FORWARD in an effort to improve and enhance existing transit facilities, centers and amenities to support LYNX customer s needs. Multiple SuperStop projects are underway and range from being in the initial planning stages to design and engineering. Facilities Projects LOC Operations & Maintenance Facilities In 2016 a Site Suitability Analysis (SSA) was completed for the land area owned by LYNX adjacent to the LYNX Operations & Maintenance Center (LOC). The goal of this SSA was to identify the best locations within the site to construct a new Mobility Management Center to house the ACCESS LYNX operations. Mobility management is a system of transportation services brokered by one or more providers, using several vehicle types to support transit services for the disabled, low-income, and senior public transit users. LYNX is deploying the mobility management strategy to provide a seamless experience in accessible transportation for those in Central Florida region who are ADA and Transportation Disadvantaged (TD)- eligible. LYNX new Mobility Management Center will be constructed through a Design-Build procurement to be released in October The Mobility Management Center will contain fleet maintenance, operations, administration and vehicle storage and parking for the ACCESS LYNX services currently operated out of the L.B. McLeod facility in Orlando, FL. In addition, LYNX partnered with Nopetro to build the CNG fueling station as well as upgraded the maintenance facility at no cost to LYNX. J-4

5 SuperStops The Pine Hills Transit Station scope of services includes a new concept in transit station design and engineering. LYNX and its contractors have initiated preliminary project planning to ensure that the public engagement, project management and design process will bring the LYNX vision to fruition with innovation and technology, as well as meeting the basic passenger amenity needs. Design, engineering and construction are scheduled to begin in Both the Florida Mall SuperStop and Rosemont SuperStops have had considerable interest from the community, local officials and LYNX to make improvements to the station, its amenities and the overall appearance of these SuperStops. LYNX is reviewing concepts and plans for enhancements at the Rosemont SuperStop and will continue to work with the community to make the improvements necessary to create a safe, accessible and welcoming transit stop. LYNX staff is developing the public involvement process to initiate plans for desired improvements at the Florida Mall SuperStop. Both the Florida Mall and Rosemont SuperStops have had intercept surveys conducted to ascertain the public s desires at the SuperStops. LYNX will continue to develop these plans and anticipates enhancement activities to begin in early Other Accomplishments LYMMO BRT Expansion Projects LYNX and the City of Orlando have partnered to expand the downtown LYMMO circulator system. LYNX has completed the rehabilitation of the existing Orange Line, completed construction on the Grapefruit line and is finished construction on the Lime Line. In addition, an extension known as the North Quarter connects the businesses north of Colonial Drive with the rest of Downtown Orlando. Orange Line North Quarter The LYMMO Orange-North Quarter began service in April The expansion of the Orange Line added five LYMMO stops and 1.55 additional miles of service in the North Quarter District of Downtown providing connections to SunRail and increasing access to jobs. Grapefruit Line The East-West expansion is now known as the Grapefruit Line and opened for service on April The Grapefruit Line provides service from Westmoreland Drive on the west to Summerlin Avenue, east of Downtown, connecting the Parramore and Thornton Park neighborhoods, the Central Business District and SunRail stations. The 3.52-mile loop has 15 stations. Lime Line The LYMMO Lime Line opened for service in January With its completion, LYNX added a total of 2.1 miles and nine stops that serve the U.S. Courthouse, FAMU College of Law, Creative Village and the future UCF-Valencia Downtown Campus, Amway Center and LYNX Central Station. 6 real-time updates on the location of the vehicle assigned to the trip. NeighborLink Real-time reservations is currently under testing for development. Fixed- Real-Time Information Another informational tool provided to LYNX customers is the new LYNX Bus Tracker which allows passenger to track their bus prior to their trip. Launched on 9/1/17, this convenient tool can be accessed from any Android or i-phone by downloading the application from the app store. Information such as next bus arrival time and late arrivals is available at the tip of LYNX customer s hands. Additionally, LYNX has the capability to send Rich Site Summary (RSS) feeds of information to bring attention to incidents and events (i.e. weather, emergencies, etc.) which may impact travel times. Technology Initiatives NeighborLink Pilot Program Over the past year, several technology initiatives have helped to enhance the public transit experience for LYNX customers. Innovation and accessible transit information is paramount to enhancing LYNX services and supporting the numerous ways in which LYNX customers travel. LYNX began a demonstration in April and May 2014 to evaluate a realtime internet-based scheduling technology for NeighborLink transit service. This pilot project is largely the result of a partnership between LYNX, the FTA, and the Cities of Maitland, Altamonte Springs, Casselberry and Longwood. The technology is designed to improve LYNX demand response service by decreasing the time between the trip request and the vehicle arrival time. It also provides the customer with Real-time information has also been made available through DoubleMap for NeighborLink on demand transit services. DoubleMap is a fixed-route GPS bus tracking service, and an on demand ride hailing service built for public transit systems. The first route to be tested for real-time bus information was the Oviedo 622. Following testing of the 622, other NeighborLink routes were introduced with real-time capabilities. Customers can now see when the bus is approaching and when the vehicle is scheduled to arrive following the last passenger drop-off. All of these tools will continue to be made available throughout the LYNX family of services to support rider s trip planning needs and improve their trip. Wireless Internet Access on Buses LYNX has added Wi-Fi to all fixed-route vehicles and was the first technology tool the agency rolled out in This technology is convenient allows customers to stay connected throughout the duration of their trip. 7 Mobile Fare Payment LYNX is currently in the process of deploying technology that will allow customers to use their smart phones to purchase and store electronic bus fare media. Single ride fares, transfers, daily, weekly, and monthly fare media will be able to be purchased with and stored on a smart phone allowing customers fast and easy access to LYNX buses. LYNX is currently in the process of programming the fare payment application. Testing and training are scheduled for October Deployment is scheduled for the end of October with on-board validators by March This tool will allow for more efficient fare payment which will improve travel times, benefiting the customer experience.
