10 A bit of fractional crystallization theory SLE with eutectic point SLE with solid solution Feed Melt Solid Theoretically one stage allows recovery of B as pure product. However, due to product dependent retention phenomenon during crystallization, additional stage(s) might be required. Eutectic point defines recovery yield limitation. Liquid and solid coexist in equilibrium in the region between the freezing point curve and the melting point curve, and it is within this region that phase separation is effected. Therefore many stages are required to achieve high purity for B. 10
