1 Drive couplings SGEA-SGEG-SGES series Drive couplings provide the means by which power is transmitted from the electric motor to the hydraulic pump. By virtue of their flexible structure, they are able to compensate angular and radial misalignments between motor and pump, and appreciably attenuate the noise generated through the drive line. The couplings illustrated are available in aluminium and cast iron versions, with a variety of spider options, and will cover a range of applications using electric motors from size 63, rated 0.15 kw, up to size 0 rated 0 kw. 2 How to use the catalogue This catalogue provides all the technical and dimensional data needed in order to ensure correct selection of a drive coupling for installation between an electric motor and a hydraulic pump. Having established the rated power of the electric motor and the type of pump that will be adopted to make up the motor-pump unit: 1 Consult table 36 on page 54 and calculate the correct size of coupling to use, depending on the type of application. 2 Consult tables -41 on pages to find the code for the correct motor half-coupling. 3 Consult tables 3-39 on pages to find the appropriate flexible spider, and verify the dimensions. 4 Consult tables on page 60 to identify the exact interface code for the pump half-coupling. 5 Consult tables on page 5 to find the pump half-coupling. 6 All codes needed to make up the order designation will be found in the single tables. N.B. The length of the pump half-coupling must be as specified in tables on page 5 (L min/max - D min/max) and as indicated below. When selecting the coupling, remember that for pumps with splined shaft, only cast iron couplings of the SGEG series can be used. 54
4 Spiders EGE** series Made of black oil-resistant rubber, these components serve to interconnect the two halves (motor - pump) of a flexible coupling. They are suitable for all industrial applications and will withstand temperatures from -20 C to +90 C.
