Acquires Howard Enterprises Jacksonville, FL, January 23, Nivel Parts & Manufacturing Co., LLC ( Nivel ) is pleased to announce the acquisi on of Howard Enterprises ( Howard ) on December 28, Howard is a wholesaler of agricultural parts and accessories, and represents Nivel s first entry into the light agricultural a ermarket parts and accessories market. Howards Nivel is excited to enter the agricultural parts market through the acquisi on of Howard and is looking forward to working with the senior management team to grow their business through organic and strategic add-on ini a ves. Nivel has a successful history of integra ng acquisi ons and growing organically through new product sourcing and Howard represents a very a rac ve opportunity in a new but related industry which is complementary to that of Nivel, said Bill Bugg, Nivel s CEO. 6 Page 6 QUALITY CONTROL Howard Enterprises announces their newest addi on - a dedicated Quality Control Department. Located in our Indiana facility, this tech room is devoted to inspec on of the products Howards sells. While we ve always been conscien ous about quality control, we ve taken it one step further by crea ng a controlled environment. Sco York, Quality Control Technician, is responsible for working with manufacturers on new product development and performing inspec ons on each shipment of product received. Sco also reviews any concerns about products; helps customers with technical or installa on issues they might be having; and, performs warranty claim analysis. He also uses cylinder blocks for test fi ng each product shipment received, for example, cylinder kits or cam bearings. This ensures the highest quality product is received by our customers. Scott York Quality Control Technician Sco has lived in Lynn, Indiana all his life. He and his wife Lela have two daughters, Mallory and Taylor. Sco is a huge fan of drag racing and used to race his own car. He enjoys building high performance engines and s ll builds a few a year. Sco began his career with engines right out of school. He drove a specially equipped semi for a crop dus ng business; the helicopter would land on a pla orm on the back of the truck to get chemicals and refuel. That same owner had a tool and die business and Sco was able to work there. He became really interested in machining and took CNC programming training. 7 TECH ROOM Page 7 A er five years at that business, he received an opportunity to work for Ohio Cranksha - a performance engine builder. During his five years there, he received his ASE Master Engine Machinist and Engine Builder cer fica on. Sco then opened his own engine machine shop, which he operated for 10 years. While con nuing his machining and engine building, he also went to work for a machine tooling company. Checking c/c of a new piston As an Applica ons Specialist, he was responsible for tooling up CNC s for companies like Duramax Engine, Borg Warner, Ford, New Venture Gear, and Allison Transmissions. This con nued un l the automo ve industry started declining. A er a chance mee ng with Howard s President, Tim McCoy, Sco chose to use his experience to benefit Howards and their customers; he has been with Howards for over five years. Sco feels it says something about a company who invests the me, the space, and the tooling needed to enhance their Quality Control department. Most companies today have no desire to make their product be er for the customer - it s about moving as much product as possible. 8 Page 8 TECH TIPS John Deere Rod-to-Piston Interference with the R71074 Connecting Rod As a warning, when trying to use an R71074 connecting rod in the early 466T engines, this IS NOT a direct interchange. The early piston design from the 4440 model differs greatly from the later version 4450 model. See the cutaway views of these pistons below. The earlier 466T piston HAR (left-detail 1) does not have adequate clearance under the combustion bowl area for the R71074 connecting rod. The later 466T pistons HAR and HRE (right-detail 2) are designed with more clearance under the combustion bowl area, specifically for the R71074 connecting rod. Parts are available, upon request, for the 1011 and 2011 engines. We need the complete engine model number and engine serial number to ensure you get the correct parts. Internal engine parts in mining applications are not the same as other ag and industrial applications. If your engine is in a mining application, the model number should end with a W, e.g. F4L912W. International /Navistar Engine Kits for DT466 and DT466E! When ordering please supply the engine serial number, horsepower and/or torque ra ng.
