2 NOV Fiber Glass Systems is the combination of the Star Fiberglass product line and the Smith Fibercast product lines bringing over 60 years of Time-Tested composite pipe experience to the Oilfield, Chemical/Industrial, Petroleum Marketing, Marine and Offshore markets. LISTING Red Thread II piping systems are Listed to Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) 971, Standard for Nonmetallic Underground Piping for Flammable Liquids. The UL 971 Listing for Red Thread II covers all UL identified fuels and applications and is applicable to both UL and ULC. PRODUCT RED THRED II pipe is a filament wound product using amine-cured epoxy resins and continuous glass filaments with a resin rich interior surface. The thermosetting properties of the pipe won t soften or creep at its maximum operating temperature of 150 F and does not get brittle in temperatures as low as -40 F. Red Thread II is a homogenous product with no liner or bladder. Primary pipe is available in 2 through 4 diameters and secondary pipe is available in 3 through 6 diameters. The pipe offers cyclic operating pressure ratings up to 250 psig at 150 F. FITTINGS Compatible fittings are manufactured with the same chemical/temperature capabilities as the pipe. Fittings are compression molded or filament wound. The primary fittings have the same pressure rating as the piping; containment fittings are rated to 50 psig in 3-4 sizes and 20 psig in 6. JOINING METHODS T... (Threaded and onded) is the primary joining method for pipe joints promoting fast, positive make-up and prevents backout during curing. The matched taper bell x spigot joint is the primary joining method for fitting joints. These joints assist the installer and assures an fast trouble-free installation. FIELD TPERING & JOINING Pipe can be cut and easily retapered for installation in the field using NOV Fiber Glass Systems tapering tools. Power or manual tools are available, see Manual 2160, General Installation Instructions. Red Thread II piping is easy and economical to install due to: Exclusive T... joint is supplied in primary piping, Containment fittings have female threaded inserts, Compatible adhesives have no shelf life, 2100 Power Tool for end preparation. RECOMMENDED SERVICES Red Thread II piping systems are UL 971 Listed for all UL identified applications and fuels, including alcohol and alcoholgasoline mixtures of either ethanol or methanol up to and including 100%. The piping system is compatible with biodiesel and E85 fuels. Thirty Year Warranty - With over 40 years proven performance in the marketplace, UL 971 Listed RED THRED II pipe, fittings and adhesive carry a 30-year warranty. The product is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship and against internal and external corrosion when used for underground transportation of fuels. This fitting also provides Class I protection which complies with California s requirement for continuous interstitial monitoring of the piping systems secondary containment. Exceptional Flow Characteristics - Two-Inch pipe has the largest I.D. (2.235 ) in the fueling industry allowing the sale of twice the fuel per foot versus any 1½ flexible product on the market. Three-inch pipe has a nominal 3.36 I.D.; four-inch pipe has a 4.36 I.D. Secondary Containment - true pipe in a pipe which provides an interstitial space for complete communication of fluids. 2

3 Red Thread II History In 1968, this product was UL Listed as Nonmetallic Underground Piping for Petroleum Products Only. Under the UL test program, the pipe was totally immersed in the following chemicals (all at 100 F). Regular leaded gasoline, Premium unleaded gasoline, Premium leaded gasoline, No. 2 fuel oil, enzene Toluene STM reference fuel C, STM reference fuel, Distilled water, Nitric acid (5% by weight(, Sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate solution, Sodium chloride solution (saturated), Dilute sulfuric acid (ph=3) Dilute sulfuric acid (20% by weight). NOV Fiber Glass Systems recommended this pipe for methanol/gasoline blends up to 5% methanol at temperatures up to 75 F. The pipe was also recommended for all mixtures of ethanol and gasoline including 100% ethanol. In 1984, the Red Thread II system carried the same UL listing as in 1968 and NOV Fiber Glass Systems recommended the piping system for all ethanol and methanol blends up to 100% at temperatures up to 75 F. In 1990, NOV Fiber Glass Systems began manufacturing Red Thread II. This product was UL Listed for petroleum products, alcohols (ethanol and methanol) and alcohol/gasoline mixtures. In 1995 and 2005, the UL standard changed and each time the Red Thread II piping system passed all new requirements.
