1 Executive Director s REPORT INSIDE Flying Cars SRA Projects Sebring International Raceway Sebring Expo at Sun 'n Fun Sebring News April 2018
2 FLYING CARS ON THE HORIZON In anticipation of air taxis from Uber and others, the builder of a 60-story condo tower is laying the groundwork for a skyport on the roof. Developer Dan Kodsi sees flying cars on the horizon. The CEO of Royal Palms Companies says he expects air taxis to fill the sky in the next 10 to 15 years and he s preparing for their arrival on the roof of the Paramount Miami Worldcenter. About a dozen companies are developing vertical takeoff and landing, or VTOL, vehicles. These electric aircraft, born aloft by multiple propellers, are expected to travel at speeds up to 230 miles an hour, drastically reducing commute times and gridlock. Last year, Uber Technologies Inc. announced plans to launch a VTOL ride-sharing network in Los Angeles and Dallas-Fort Worth by VTOLs will have pilots at first, but over time they re expected to become autonomous. According to a recent Uber white paper, VTOLs will be half as loud as a truck passing a house and weigh far less than a helicopter. Condos at the Paramount will be completed in spring 2019 and range from $700,000 to $10 million. The skyport at the Paramount will repurpose two amenities, Kodsi says. A rooftop swimming pool was designed to accommodate a hydraulic lift that operates what s known as a movable floor or a hidden pool; the bottom of the pool will rise through the water in a matter of minutes to create a 3,000-square-foot landing surface. A 1,400-square-foot sky lobby, where residents will wait for their air taxis with the assistance of a doorman, will initially be used as an observatory. You want to be part of the group in the real-estate industry that s reacting now, not Oh, I wish we had thought of that trend, Kodsi says. DEVELOPER DAN KODSI IS PREPARING FOR THE ARRIVAL OF FLYING CARS AT HIS PARAMOUNT MIAMI WORLDCENTER CONDO TOWER. ILLUSTRATION: GUY SHIELD

Main terminal re-roofing In progress Hangar Repairs In progress 66th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring The 66th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Presented by Advance Auto Parts proved to be one of the greatest in the long history of the international sportscar classic. After many months of rebuilding the track, electrical infrastructure, suites, billboards, buildings and more effects of Hurricane Irma, the track staff created many new promotional events to increase interest in the event. A team transporter parade, sponsored by Outback Steakhouse, highlighted a pre-race festival at the City Circle. On the eve of the 12 Hours, Alan Jay Automotive sponsored the Friday Continental Series race and a concert featuring Nashville artist and reality TV star Craig Morgan. Pre-race activities included a large drivers introduction production, fireworks, parachutes, flyovers and the biggest gridwalk in many, many years. All the while, Sebring fans look ahead 12 months to the next 12 Hours week that will include a 1,000-mile WEC race on the eve of the main event. Also just ahead, the single-lane drive-over bridge to Green Park s demolition is under way, clearing a path for a new bridge featuring two vehicle lanes and a pedestrian lane. It should be complete in time for a new November event, the Michelin Encore, a post-points-season race for GT-3, GT-4, and P-3 cars. More information about this event will be announced in coming weeks.
4 U. S. S P O RT AV I ATI O N E X P O AT SU N N FU N U.S. Sport Aviation Expo s Event Director, Zach Easton, and Program Manager, Janice Rearick, attended the annual Sun n Fun event in Lakeland, Florida. The airport promoted to past Expo exhibitors (in advance of Sun n Fun) that displaying their Hendricks mascot would get them a discount for 2019, plus Facebook recognition. As a result, many of the Sebring Expo Exhibitors were in attendance and brought their Sebring Expo mascot: Hendricks. Pictured below are some of the exhibitors visited. Several of whom have already committed to exhibiting at U.S. Sport Aviation Expo for 2019.
