2 R 9 /6.98 Functional description roptional directional control valves Model WR are direct operated spool valves. hey control the start, stop, direction and quantity of a fluid flow f smooth acceleration and deceleration of an actuat. he direction control is shifted to the desired position by a ± 9 V ( a ± V differential) input signal to the associated electronic amplifier card. hese valves basically consist of the housing (), control spool (), one two centering springs ( & ) and also one two proptional solenoids ( & 6) Model WR...-X/... (-position) In the de-energized condition, the control spool () is held by the return springs ( & ) in the center position. When the proptional solenoid () is supplied with an input signal from the amplifier, the solenoid pushes directly against the control spool and shifts it to the right a distance proptional to the input signal, against the opposing spring fce (). his allows fluid to progressively flow from to and to. Likewise, when solenoid (6) is energized the control spool shifts to the left allowing progressive flow from to and to. Optional manual overrides are available f emergency operation of the valve (without an electronic signal). Imptant: o achieve optimum operation of the valve, the air must be bled from the proptional solenoids on the initial start-up. his may be done two ways: ) pressurize the valve, remove the two bleed screws (7 & 8) until no me air bubbles appear, then reinstall bleed screws; ) remove both bleed screws (7 & 8) insert standard oil can nozzle and pump fluid in one side until it flows, without air bubbles, out the other side, then reinstall screws. In both cases the tank line must be prevented from emptying if there is no inherent back pressure in the tank pt of the circuit. his may be achieved by installing a check valve in the tank line. he valve's cracking pressure should be in the range of... (-position) hese are -position directional proptional control valves with only one proptional solenoid ( 6). n end cover replaces the solenoid which is removed. he function of this design is the same as that of the -position valve described on page.
