The design engineering process is based on 3D CAD modelling, which significantly reduces the design cycle time and facilitates an easy exchange of design engineering data. All other activities of the product design and delivery project can be provided in parallel with the customer s vehicle design engineering. MANUFACTURING: The mechanical power units are manufactured on CNC machine tools for a high quality of finish and a high product repeatability. FUNCTIONALITIES: Folding and unfolding: The primary function of a rear-view mirror is to enable visual monitoring of the rail vehicle sides during stops at rail stations. Given the gauge and envelope limits of a rail vehicle, the rear-view mirrors are automatically unfolded and folded when the passenger doors open and close, respectively; the folding action is also enabled when the rail vehicle starts rolling. Mirror adjustment control: The field of view can be adapted to the personal needs of every driver with a joystick installed in the driver s cab. Mirror heating: The mirrors feature a heating system for defrosting, deicing and defogging. Emergency folding: If the rear-view mirror system suffers from a power failure, the mirrors can be folded by hand. 5 Mirror systems Rear-view mirrors can be used as the main instruments for visual monitoring of the vehicle side and rear view fields, or complement onboard rear-view camera systems. 6 Tram car mirror system Tram cars are rail vehicles with unique performance and design features; hence, they require a design of the rearview mirrors unlike the designs applied in trains. The main unique feature of a tram car rear-view mirror is a long arm between the mirror nacelle and the mirror mechanism; the considerable length of the arm is necessitated by a low sitting position of the driver above the ground. The tram car mirrors are designed in compliance with the UN European Economic Commission Regulations to help tram drivers monitor for every visual detail which can be critical to their passengers. The mirror image output quality is superior with many innovative solutions which reduce the effect of vehicle vibrations on the mirrors. 7 Tram car rear-view mirror / SERIES LUS05 The Series 05 tram car rear-view power mirrors are installed in the outer recesses at the vehicle front to secure the seal integrity of the driver s cab. The mirror arm s unfolding and folding rotation is confined to a dedicated slot in the installation fascia. The folding mechanism is concealed beneath the outer side panel of the vehicle, leaving the vehicle front design unchanged. The power mirror s electric folding mechanism runs with a very low noise and provides precise mirror adjustment. The soft start and stop function of the folding mechanism maximizes the service life of its components. The mirror features electric heating for an improved convenience of the vehicle driver and a higher safety of the passengers during the vehicle operation in autumn and winter. The Series 05 features removal of mechanical linkage play with a system of integrated springs. 5

8 Tram car rear-view mirror / SERIES LUS010 The Series 010 tram car rear-view power mirrors are installed in the outer recesses at the vehicle front just like the Series 05, which keeps the driver s cab sealed from the elements and the mirror folding mechanism concealed. The mirror arm s unfolding and folding rotation is confined to a dedicated slot in the installation fascia. The folding mechanism is concealed beneath the outer side panel of the vehicle, leaving the vehicle front design unchanged. The power mirror s electric folding mechanism runs with a very low noise and provides precise mirror adjustment. Unlike its predecessors, the Series 010 features an emergency folding coupling: if the mirror power supply fails or the mirror arm cannot be folded otherwise, the driver can fold it by hand. Another innovation of the Series 010 is the additional first door monitoring mirror which improves the safety of passengers and their pets, boarding the tram through the first door. 9 Tram car rear-view mirror / SERIES LUS022 The Series 022 is a professional rear-view mirror system intended for tram cars, buses, coaches and trolleybuses in compliance with the UN European Economic Commission Regulation no. 46. The two large mirror panes provide the driver with an optimum field of view. The manually folding mirror has been designed for those customers and vehicle operators who seek budget-friendly solutions. This series of rear-view mirrors features a lock and hold coupling which keeps the mirror nacelle body to the vehicle side to prevent damage at automatic vehicle wash stands. The mirror arm has been optimised by FEM and in-house laboratory testing to prevent harmonic oscillation. 7

10 The system of rear-view mirrors for trains Rear-view mirrors systems for trains, produced by LARISA, comply special conditions of operating during which they are exposed to high passing speed, icing or gusts of wind. 11 Mirror SERIES LUS02 Electrical mirrors of SERIES 02 are primarily intended for trains and locomotives. Reliable and solid construction guarantees durability of this solution. Extremely silent electric drive can be easily connected to the vehicle driver. Due to the cabin shape following UIC and TSI, those mirrors are placed in close proximity to the side window. perfect visibility and field of vision clarity wind blasts safe in operation The characteristic feature of this product is an external rotation axis of the mirror, so the mirror does not replace window set but only complements it, whereas close/open mechanism of the mirror is hidden under vehicle sheathing. Only housing with the mirror is outside of the vehicle and is entirely meeting the vehicle s gauge. Innovation of this solution is application of the emergency folding mechanism useful in case of any accidental events making impossible automatic folding of the mirror so that the vehicle can continue driving. 9

12 Mirror SERIES LUS013 The housing of electrical mirrors of SERIES 013 is made of aluminum and is mounted in place of the whole or the part of cabin side window in traction unit or locomotive. Compact construction integrates the mechanism with the housing allowing quick installation in the cabin. The characteristic feature of this product is invisible from the outside mirror folding mechanism. Due to internal rotation axis of the mechanism, housing is flush with the side surface of the vehicle after closing the mirror. Electrical close/open mechanism of the mirror is extremely quiet. Sealed housing is equipped with internal, glass, through which the train driver can observe vehicle sides comfortably even during the biggest frosts and blizzards. 15 Mirror SERIES LUS015 Mirror mechanism of SERIES 015 is made of aluminum alloys and is mounted partially under the vehicle sheathing. Unusual construction of this mirror is a combination of solutions used in locomotives and trams. The characteristic feature of this product is innovative fusion of solutions from tram and rail bus, and by adding a special overload clutch, it allows the driver to leave the vehicle through side window in an emergency.
