Cool White LED is best used in contemporary kitchens for high gloss doors, granite worktops etc. Warm White LED is better suited to the more traditional kitchen designs, wood or painted doors and wood worktops. Warm White LED is the closest in colour to halogen, which a lot of consumers in the UK are used to and comfortable with. Warm White HD LED fittings can be used as an energy efficient direct replacement for halogen lighting. Cool White LED is still brighter than the Warm White LED so that is to be taken into consideration for certain specifications. Use of Cool White for convenience lighting is preferable as it is brighter. Warm White LED is a relatively new concept, previously all LED products were exclusively Cool White, however with the fast paced advancements in LED technology the HD LED range is available in both Warm White and Cool White LED. The Warm White LED is more aesthetically pleasing with most timber/traditional types of kitchens and worktops. Another element that is making impact is the current rejuvenation of painted kitchen doors, we have found that irrespective of what colour the actual door is, the Warm White light augments the painted effect, whereas Cool White can quite often either bleach the colour or bring out a grey undertone which detracts from the actual colour. Gloss White and ultra-modern styled kitchens are much better suited to Cool White LED. Warm White Cool White Why LED lighting is best LEDs are an extremely efficient way of producing light and have overtaken the traditional halogen as the first choice in modern kitchen lighting design. LED vs Halogen Energy & Cost Saving Using energy efficient technology each fitting has a low power consumption, with units running at 1.7W on average. By moving from conventional halogen lighting to LED you can save over 90% on power consumption and see considerable savings on your electricity bills. Brightest Light Output HD LEDs have a high light output - equivalent to 20W of halogen - whilst only using a fraction of the power consumption. Long Life Halogen light bulbs are rated for approximately 3,000 hours of useful life, while LEDs are rated for approximately 40,000 hours of indoor use. The long life span of LEDs means they will ultimately outlive your kitchen - saving you time, money and hassle with replacement lamps. No Wasted Heat With halogen bulbs, around 90% of the energy used is converted to radiant heat. In comparison, with LED lighting only a fraction of the energy used is converted to wasted heat. LEDs do not overheat and have zero output of ultra-violet radiation compared to that of conventional halogen lighting. Why buy in kits? A simpler way to specify The kits in this brochure have been put together with the thought in mind that there is a kit suitable for a 1, 2 or 3 metre kitchen run.

If the kitchen is 4 metres in total length you would specify 2 x 2m kits, if it was 5 metres in length then 1 x 2m and 1 x 3m. If the kitchen was 4.

5 Why buy in kits? A simpler way to specify The kits in this brochure have been put together with the thought in mind that there is a kit suitable for a 1, 2 or 3 metre kitchen run. The 2 metre and 3 metre kits are designed to make it much easier to specify the quantity of lighting required on a pro rata basis for example; a 1 metre kit contains 2 lights (1 fitting every 500mm). a 2 metre kit contains 4 lights. a 3 metre kit contains 6 lights. The rationale is that over a 2 metre run we would advise that there would be a need for 4 lights to ensure that the area is well enough lit for the task in hand. If the kitchen is 4 metres in total length you would specify 2 x 2m kits, if it was 5 metres in length then 1 x 2m and 1 x 3m. If the kitchen was 4.5 metre then you would specify as per the 5 metre but only use 5 of the lights from the 3 metre kit (or 3 of the lights from the 2 metre kit) dependent on what works best in that specific kitchen e.g. where the break in the run of wall units are would determine where you would use the lesser amount of lights. All of the items required for use with each product are contained in the kit. No need to have to think about which driver and how much cable you need, as all items needed to install the lights are contained within the kits. Dimmable lighting Some of the lights featured in this brochure can be used with the Sensor Dimming Switch to create a dimmable lighting solution. (See page 10 for full Sensor details.)
