Correct installation, use and servicing is important for safe and reliable operation of the product. It is very important that you take the time to read this manual before installing the product. Limited Warranty ELECTRONIC AND MECHANICAL COMPONENTS - TPA warrants that the electronic components manufactured by TPA shall be free of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one year from the original date of shipment to the dealer. TPA warrants that all valves, hoses, cables and mechanical parts manufactured by TPA shall be free of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 90 days from the date of sale. RETURN AND REPAIR - During the respective warranty periods, any of the above items found defective may be shipped to TPA for repair. TPA will promptly repair the defective item at no charge, and ship it back to you. You must pay the shipping and handling charges in respect of the same. Calibration of components, labor and travel expenses incurred for in-field removal and replacement of components are not covered in this warranty policy. Damage to components due to negligence, abuse or improper use, maintenance, modification or repair is NOT covered under this warranty. Preparation for Operation PROHIBITED: Never operate the vehicle with any panels or guards removed. If the removal of panels or guards is necessary to make a repair, they MUST be replaced before operation. PROHIBITED: Topcon equipment must not be used by an operator affected by alcohol or drugs. Before operating any vehicle equipped with Topcon products, read and understand the following product specific safety precautions in the Operator s Manual for the equipment. Safety for this Installation CRITICAL: Before starting any work on the vehicle Shut down the vehicle as per the manufacturer s operator s guide. Allow the machine to cool before working on the machine. Remove the ignition key to prevent accidental starting of the machine. CRITICAL: Practice safe workshop practices Clean the machine and target work areas thoroughly before commencing any work on the vehicle to prevent contamination of hydraulic and electrical systems. Wear appropriate clothing and footwear protection. Do not perform the installation alone. Have someone with you to assist. Dispose of any oil, coolant or machine fluid as per local laws and legislation. Manually secure any machine components that must be raised, worked under, worked around or removed as part of the installation or service procedure. Never work on, adjust, lubricate or perform maintenance on a vehicle that is in motion or has powered moving parts. Keep all vehicle parts in good working order. If damage is found, report damage to the vehicle owner and your manager immediately. For self-propelled machines equipped with an electrical system, disconnect the negative (-) and positive (+) battery terminals before performing electrical system service and maintenance or welding on the vehicle. Implements equipped with an electrical system, disconnect the entire implement - tractor harness connections before performing electrical system service and maintenance or welding on the implement. CRITICAL: Install and handle brackets and electronic system components safely Install and handle all vehicle mounting brackets in a safe manner. Serious injury can result from falling while performing service, installations or maintenance. Use secure vehicle handholds and footholds where specified by the manufacturer. If footholds and handholds do not allow access to the necessary work area; use a ladder, scaffold or other means of safe, secure access. Do not commence work in wet, windy or icy conditions. Inside and outside the cabin, ensure that the harnesses are routed safely out of the way of operators and will not be damaged in normal use. Attach the power connector at the end of installation to prevent any risk of electrical damage. iv

7 Chapter 1 Installation Overview The AGI-4 is a multi-functional GPS receiver with inbuilt inertial system, modem and steering controller functionality. The System 150 or System 350 guidance systems are supported with the AGI-4 receiver. This guide includes references on how to mount and set up the System 150 or 350 or standalone ISOBUS system with an AGI-4 receiver. This installation guide refers to Topcon universal vehicle installations, AGCO vehicle installations and ISOBUS type installations. Installation Time: Approximately 1 hour Required Components AGI-4 Receiver installation requires these components. 11 Chapter 2 Assemble AGI-4 Components This chapter describes the steps to assemble the internal components of an AGI-4 receiver. 1. Place the AGI-4 receiver on a clean, hard flat surface such as a workbench or desk. Using a 2.5 mm Allen key remove the 10 screws retaining the base plate to the AGI-4 receiver. Note: The screws are not removable from the base plate. 2. Install the AGA4730 IMU, taking care to align the IMU connector first. Press the IMU firmly in place with the palm of your hand. Secure the IMU to the AGI-4 receiver with the 2 screws attached to the IMU using an Allen key. Tension the screws to 0.5 Nm. 5

12 Chapter 2 Assemble AGI-4 Components 3. Remove the nut and washer from the antenna cavity plug from the outside of the receiver. 4. Remove the cavity plug from the inside of the receiver. Note: Do not discard the plug as it may be re-installed at a later date if the IMU is removed. 5. If the AGI-4 is being configured to use a cellular mobile network to receive RTK corrections, insert the Network Provider s SIM card in the slot located on the side of the RTK module. 6

13 Chapter 2 Assemble AGI-4 Components 6. Install the RTK module, taking care to align the connectors first. Press the RTK module firmly in place with the palm of your hand. Secure the RTK module to the AGI-4 receiver with the attached screw using an Allen key. Tension screw to 0.5 Nm. 7. B A Locate the RTK module connection cable. Remove the nut and lock washer A from the fitting and ensure the orange seal B is in place. 8. Place the connector attached to RTK module into the hole in the side of the AGI-4 casing. 9. Secure the connector with the nut and lock washer previously removed from the RTK module. Tension the RTK module connector securing nut to 3.3 Nm. 7

14 Chapter 2 Assemble AGI-4 Components 10. Re-install the receiver base plate. Tighten the base plate screws evenly until the base plate is seated securely. Tension base plate screws to 1.3 Nm. 8

15 Chapter 3 RTK Antenna Installation 3.1. For AGB1280 Bracket 1. A High Gain MHz Antenna B Insert the RTK antenna male- male fitting through the top of the mounting bracket using the larger of the 2 holes. Adjust the position of the upper male base so the antenna RF pin base A is approximately 1mm above the upper male base. Secure the male male fitting with the supplied nut and lock washer B. Tension nut to 3.3 Nm. 2. Connect one end of the supplied antenna cable to the base of the male male fitting. Tension finger tight. 9

16 Chapter 3 RTK Antenna Installation 3. Secure the high gain antenna to the upper male base. Tension hand tight. 4. Connect the antenna cable to the RTK radio module connection located on the side of the AGI-4 housing. Tension finger tight. 1. Medium Gain MHz Antenna Insert the RTK antenna male- male fitting through the top of the mounting bracket using the smaller of the 2 holes. Secure the male male fitting with the supplied nut and lock washer. Tension to 3.3 Nm. 10

17 Chapter 3 RTK Antenna Installation 2. Connect one end of the supplied antenna cable to the base of the male male fitting. Tension finger tight. 3. Connect the 450 MHz antenna to the top of the male fitting. Tension finger tight. 4. Connect the antenna cable to the RTK module connection located on the side of the AGI-4 housing. Tension finger tight. 11

18 Chapter 3 RTK Antenna Installation 3.2. For AGB1315 Bracket 1. Attach the AGB1316 BRACKET to the AGB1315 BRACKET. Secure with M5 x 12 SCREWS (AGF541). Tension screws to 4.0 Nm. 2. Medium Gain 915 MHz Antenna (Cellular) Insert the RTK antenna male- male fitting through the top of the mounting bracket using the small hole. Secure the male male fitting with the supplied nut and lock washer. Tension to 3.3 Nm. 3. Connect one end of the supplied antenna cable to the base of the male male fitting. Tension finger tight. 12

19 Chapter 3 RTK Antenna Installation 4. Connect the 915 MHz antenna to the top of the male - male fitting. Secure finger tight. 5. Connect the other end of the antenna to the RTK module connection located on the side of the AGI-4 housing. Tension finger tight. 13

20 Chapter 4 Mount and Harness Installation 4.1. Mounting on AGB1280 Bracket 1. Place the AGI-4 receiver on a clean, hard flat surface such as a workbench or desk. Locate the 3 threaded holes for mounting. 2. Place the AGB1280 BRACKET directly on top of the receiver and align the receiver mounting point holes with the bracket. Secure the AGB1280 BRACKET to the receiver with the supplied M5 x 12 SCREWS (AGF541). Tension receiver mounting screws to 1.3 Nm. 14

21 Chapter 4 Mount and Harness Installation 3. A Assemble the SWELL LATCH ( ) with the M6 SCREW ( ) as shown in A. Insert the swell latch shaft and solid spacer assembly B through the AGB1280 BRACKET as shown. B 4. Open the swell latch so the handle is in the upright position. Place the soft spacer and the swell latch assembly onto the swell latch shaft. Tighten the swell latch nut until the soft spacer makes contact with the AGB1280 BRACKET. 15

22 Chapter 4 Mount and Harness Installation 5. A B Locate the 2 AGI-4 receiver connectors. The receiver connections are color coded A = Grey B = Black Note: AGCO installations use only the grey connector side. Topcon universal installations use both the grey and black connectors for increased functionality. Connect the (AGA4930) HARNESS to the grey connector. Push the connector firmly in to secure the connection. 6. If required, install the EDGE TRIM ( ) as shown. Trim as necessary for harness clamp installation. Note: Rubber grip strip requires trimming to allow for correct harness clamp installation. 7. Install the CLAMP ( ) as shown. Secure with supplied NUT ( ). Tension the clamp to 5 Nm to complete the mounting. 16

23 Chapter 4 Mount and Harness Installation 4.2. Mounting on AGB1315 Bracket 1. Identify receiver side mounting bracket position. Case IH position Note: The AGB1315 BRACKET can be positioned to allow for mounting the receiver on the Topcon roof mounting brackets or CaseIH receiver roof mounts. Align the front receiver arrow with the corresponding notch position for correct mounting. Topcon universal position 2. Place the AGB1315 BRACKET directly on top of the receiver and align the receiver mounting point holes with the bracket. Secure the AGB1315 BRACKET to the receiver with the supplied M5 x 12 SCREWS (AGF541). Tension receiver mounting screws to 3.3 Nm. 17

24 Chapter 4 Mount and Harness Installation 3. Assemble the SWELL LATCH ( ) with the M6 SCREW ( ) as shown. Insert the swell latch shaft and solid spacer assembly through the AGB1315 BRACKET as shown. 4. Open the swell latch so the handle is in the upright position. Place the SWELL LATCH ( ) and the M6 NUT ( ) onto the swell latch shaft. Tighten the M6 NUT ( ) until the soft spacer makes contact with the AGB1315 BRACKET. 5. Repeat for the opposite side mounting location. 18

25 Chapter 4 Mount and Harness Installation 6. A B Locate the 2 AGI-4 receiver connectors. The receiver connections are color coded for your convenience. A = Grey B = Black Remove the black side cavity plug from the back side of the connector. Cut the retaining cable at a suitable location and remove the cavity plug and cable from the receiver. Note: Do not discard the plug as it may be re installed at a later date if the receiver is shifted to a different vehicle. 7. Connect the corresponding grey and black AGA4903 HARNESS connectors to the receiver connector locations. 8. A Connect the AGA4903 HARNESS to the mating AGI-4 vehicle harness B. Secure the connection with the AGI-3 harness using the thumbscrew at location A. B 19

26 Chapter 5 AGI-4 Receiver Settings 5.1. For X30 Console When using an AGI-4 with an X30 console, the following must be configured: 1. GPS receiver type Use ignition line enable/disabled Keep alive time Start the console using the power button. From the main screen, select System, GPS and Receiver. 2. Select GPS RECEIVER. 3. From the dropdown menu select AGI-4 as the GPS receiver. Confirm. If using Glonass GPS satellites with your differential solution, select GLONASS to Enabled. 20

27 Chapter 5 AGI-4 Receiver Settings 4. If using an AGI-4 receiver on an AGCO vehicle with the AGA4930 HARNESS, the USE IGNITION LINE option must be set to Disabled. 5. If using the AGA4903 HARNESS, the USE IGNITION LINE option must be set to Disabled. If using a harness with switched power circuit (AGA4700, AGA5258, AGA5322 or AGA5329), the USE IGNITION LINE option must be set to Enabled. To enable or disable select the USE IGNITION LINE option. Select Enabled or Disabled. Confirm. 6. Select KEEP ALIVE TIME (MINUTES). Using the key pad, enter the desired time (in minutes) to keep the receiver active after the system has been shut down. Confirm. For example: To keep the receiver on for 1 hour after the system is shut down (to keep satellite convergence) enter 60. Note: This feature is only available if USE IGNITION LINE is set to Enabled. 21

For GX-45 Console When using an AGI-4 with a GX-45 console, the following must be configured: GPS receiver type Use ignition line enable/disabled Keep alive time 1. Start the GX-45 console as per the operator s manual. On the main system menu select the GPS Settings. for 2. Select from the GPS Settings screen to display the GPS receiver selection menu. 3. Using the up and down arrows, select AGI-4 then select from the GPS Receiver selection screen. The GPS Settings screen is displayed. 22

29 Chapter 5 AGI-4 Receiver Settings 4. Select from the GPS Settings screen to display the Receiver Configuration screen. 5. Select from the Receiver Configuration screen, to enable or disable the Use Ignition Line setting on the AGI Note: If connecting an AGI-4 receiver to an AGCO vehicle with (AGA4930) HARNESS or connecting it using the AGA4903 HARNESS, Use Ignition Line must be set to Disabled. If using a harness with switched power circuit (AGA4700, AGA5258, AGA5322 or AGA5329), the USE IGNITION LINE option must be set to Enabled. Use the up/ down arrows to disable the Use Ignition Line setting. Select to confirm. 23

30 Chapter 5 AGI-4 Receiver Settings 7. If using an AGI-4 receiver with a Topcon Gen II or Gen II lite harness, the Use Ignition Line setting must be set to Enabled. Use the up/ down arrows to enable the Use Ignition Line setting. Select to confirm. 8. To set the Keep Alive Time select from the Receiver Configuration screen. 9. Use the up/ down arrows or the keypad to set the desired Keep Alive Time (in minutes). This will keep the receiver active after the system has been shut down. Select to confirm. For example: To keep the receiver on for 1 hour after the system is shut down (to keep satellite convergence) enter 60. Note: This feature is only available if Use Ignition Line is set to Enabled. 24

31 5.3. For ISOBUS UT Console The AGI-4 needs to have the following configured when using an ISOBUS Universal Terminal Console: Standby Time Terminal Wait Delay 1. If this is the first time you have used the system, ensure you read the displayed warning message. Use and to scroll through the warning message. Select to accept the warning message. 2. To setup the AGI-4 using the ISO UT terminal, it must be set to advanced mode. When started for the first time, the ISO UT will default to the basic operation mode screen. To change to advance mode select from the basic operation screen. Then scroll down. 25

32 Chapter 5 AGI-4 Receiver Settings 3. Basic The main operation screen has 2 modes- Basic and Advanced. Ensure the terminal is set to Advanced before proceeding. Advanced 4. To select Advanced mode, go to the Basic/Advanced screen and select. On the confirmation message, s elect to confirm. 26

33 Chapter 5 AGI-4 Receiver Settings 5. From the advanced set-up screen, select twice then select system sub menu. to display the 6. From the system submenu select to display the settings for Stand-by Time and Terminal Wait Delay. If using a harness with switched power circuit (AGA4700, AGA5258, AGA5322 or AGA5329), the Stand-by Time must be set to 0 or above. If using AGA4903 HARNESS or (AGA4930) HARNESS, the Stand-by Time must be set to -1 to disable the Standby Time function. Note: Standby time is the same feature as the Use Ignition Line setting on the X30 and GX-45 consoles. 27

34 Chapter 5 AGI-4 Receiver Settings 7. Configure Stand-by Time Using the universal terminal s navigation media, select and enter the standby time (in minutes). The standby time must be 0 or above. If the stand-by time is set to -1 (standby disabled) the receiver will not shut down after the key is turned to the off position. Note: To keep the receiver on for 1 hour after the system is shut down (to keep satellite convergence) enter 60 min. Select the tick to save and exit. 8. Configure Terminal Wait Delay Note: Terminal Wait Delay value of 60 sec is recommended to allow the Universal Terminal to start completely before the AGI-4 UT application loads. Using the universal terminal s navigation media, select and enter the Terminal Wait Delay time (in seconds). Enter the desired time for the UT to be powered on before the AGI-4 UT application starts to load to the UT. Select the tick to save and exit. 28
