5 Installation Before working under header always: 1. Perform all combine and header manufacturer safety precautions for servicing header. 2. Insert stop to prevent movement of header. 3. Turn off combine and remove key from ignition. 4. Set combine parking brake. 5. Disconnect all drive shafts from the header. Installation 1

6 Installation Complete this installation portion of the header manual before continuing. Mounting Sensors - All Models 1. Mount sensors facing forward into narrow end of mounting brackets using one flange bolt at rear A and carriage bolt and flange nut at front B. 2. Determine sensor mounting locations. Sensors should be mounted equally spaced across head mounting near end of head as far as possible. When using Foresight, mount one row in from end of head if outer snouts are shorter 3. Remove bubble shield from snout. A B 4. Place sensor and mounting bracket in snout and mount with four flange bolts provided. 2

7 Routing Wiring - GT Models 1. Select appropriate wiring from chart below and mark blue connector with sensor position. Properly routing the wiring is the most critical part of the installation process. Please take time to ensure that you have allowed sufficient slack for motion as well as sufficient clearance from moving header parts or crop flow. 8 Installation Routing Wiring - All Rows 1. Removing black weatherpack connector of extension harness is necessary to properly route wiring. 2. Release wire retaining clip on each connector. Insert removal tool and pull each wire out of connectors. (Be sure to note wire locations) 3. Flare connector terminals using removal tool. Reinstall wires in connector body with black into A, white into B, and green into C after routing to the sensor. Latch wire retaining clip. 4. All sensor wiring will be routed out toward sensor locations through the channel just below the upper square frame rail. For outer sensor, the wire will route all the way to the end panel For inner sensors, the wire will route down through the gusset before sensor (do not route through gusset with gearbox, heat may damage wiring) For sensors on wings of a folding head see Routing Wiring - Folding Heads section of this manual Outer Sensor Inner Sensor 4

9 Routing Wiring - Folding Heads 1. Route harness in hole marked A, out hole marked B, and over hinge point marked C. C Installation B A 2. Route behind hinge point marked C and through hole in hinge area marked D. C D 3. Continue routing through gusset to channel just below upper square frame rail. For inner sensors, the wire will route down through the gusset before sensor (do not route through gusset with gearbox, heat may damage wiring) For outer sensor, the wire will route all the way to the end panel 5

10 Installation Routing Wiring - Inner Rows 1. After routing down gusset, route harness forward above drive shaft then out to selected row. 2. Fasten with zip ties at locations marked. 3. Fasten with zip ties at every cross frame gusset when routing out to selected rows. 4. Route harness through hole and forward, zip tie at locations marked. Place a wire clamp retaining harness just above drive shaft 6

11 5. Continue routing extension harness on top side of channel. (poly snout has been removed to provide a visual aid) Installation 6. Drill holes with hole saw 1-1/4. 7. Use wire fish to pull harness through poly snout. 8. Position sensor connector with latch facing up against poly. Fasten harness connection with small clamp and screw on each side of connector secure excess harness into snout. 7

12 Installation Routing Wiring - Outer Rows 1. Route harness under top frame rail to end divider poly. 2. Route inside poly down to sensor securing harness with clamps and screws. Routing Wiring - Inner Narrow Rows 1. Route sensor extension wire to the back of the correct row. Follow the same instructions as Rouring Wire Inner Rows section of this manual. 2. Remove snout and hood poly. 3. Drill angled hole down through bracket just in front of auger trough as shown. 4. Feed wire up through predrilled hole in bottom of header and then through hole drilled in step 3. 8

13 5. Drill hole in bottom of poly hood as shown. 6. Reinstall hood and snout. Installation 7. Drill 1-1/4in hole in front of poly hood. 8. Use wire fish to route wire through hood. 9. Continue routing along snout to sensor. Leave adequate slack between snout and hood so movement of snout does not stretch wire Secure wire to snout with wire clamps and screws supplied Turn sensor connector so clip is against poly and put a clamp on both sides 10. Place wire guard over wire below back edge of poly hood. 11. Clamp in place and drill 2 holes with a right angle drill and a 13/64 drill bit. 12. Secure bracket in place with self-tapping screws provided. 9

14 Installation Install Light Wiring 1. Locate two gray Drago harnesses left of feederhouse opening. 2. Connect Drago blue ground wires to Headsight black ground wire. 3. Connect Drago left side brown wire to left turn yellow Headsight wire. 4. Connect Drago right side brown wire to right turn green Headsight wire. 5. Headsight brown stubble wire is only used when header has stubble lights. 10

15 Install Controller - GT Models (if equipped) 1. Install controller left of feederhouse. Mount Horizon or Insight box to back of header as shown with hardware provided. 2. Connect main wiring harness to Horizon or Insight box. Installation 11

Route harnesses through hole in channel left of feederhouse pull out bottom leaving foot of length hanging out of hole. 5. Route harnesses along bottom channel toward selected rows, fastening with clamps and hardware provided every

18 Installation Routing Wiring - Inner Rows 1. Drill a 3/8 hole at marked location, repeat for all other selected rows. 2. Route harness on top side of drive shaft and zip tie harness at locations shown at right. 3. Route harness through hole. 14

19 4. Drill a 1/4 hole at location marked. Raise snout all the up and zip tie harness to bracket. Verify when raising hood it is not pulling on harness. Installation 5. Fasten harness to bracket with zip tie at location A and drill a hole with hole saw at location B. B A 6. Drill hole with 1 1/4 hole saw at marked location. 7. Use a wire fish to pull harness through poly snout. 8. Drill holes marked with hole saw 1 1/4. 9. Use wire fish to pull harness through poly snout. 15

20 Installation 10. Position sensor connector with latch facing up against poly. Fasten harness connection with small clamp and screw on each side of connector. 11. Pull extra slack out of harness and fasten at marked location with clamp and screw leaving enough slack for snout to pivot. 12. Push excess harness into snout and use clamp and screw to retain harness 16

21 Routing Wiring - Outer Rows Installation 1. Route harness up backside of head to top of end divider poly 2. Follow poly down to sensor securing harness with clamps and screws. Routing Wiring - Narrow Row Heads 1. Follow steps 1-2 in Routing Wiring-Inner Rows section. 2. Drill 1/2 center hole and drill screw holes 13/64 and mount narrow row harness protective bracket as shown with self tapping screws. 3. Route harness through bracket. (remove poly to make sure harness is not pinched when snout is raised) 4. Route harness down divider snout securing with zip ties to square center tube. 5. Fasten harness to under side of divider point with clamps and screws. 6. Finish following steps in Routing Wiring-Inner Rows section. 17

22 Installation Install Light Wiring 1. Locate two gray Drago harnesses left of feederhouse opening. 2. Connect Drago blue ground wires to Headsight black ground wire. 3. Connect Drago left side brown wire to left turn yellow Headsight wire. 4. Connect Drago right side brown wire to right turn green Headsight wire. 5. Headsight brown stubble wire is only used when header has stubble lights. Install Controller - Series II & Earlier (if equipped) 1. Mount Insight box universal mounting bracket (B3110) to back of header. 2. Mount Insight to bracket. 3. Connect main wiring harness to Insight. 1. Mount Horizon box to back of header with hardware provided. Horizon must be mounted to back panel as pictured for Deck Plate Angle to display correctly. 2. Connect main wiring harness to Horizon box. 18

23 Sensor Adjustment Insert header stop to prevent movement Changing Swing 1. Loosen the bolt A holding down stop. 2. Slide the down stop to new position in slotted hole. Raising down stop will increase voltage swing and allow higher maximum cutting height Lowering the down stop will decrease total voltage swing and help prevent arm from stabbing the ground when the headers is lowered A Increasing or Decreasing Voltage 1. Loosen sensor mounting nuts B. 2. Twist sensor to new position using slotted mounting holes. Twisting sensor clockwise will lower voltage Twisting sensor counterclockwise will increase voltage B B Sensor Adjustment 3. Retighten the nuts B. 19

24 Sensor Extensions Headsight recommends using the lowest extension setting that allows you to run high as you desire. Increasing the length of the extension will reduce header control sensitivity. 1. Remove flange locknut then remove arm and spring. 2. Install extension to sensor assembly with previously removed spring and flange locknut. 3. Install arm in extension with two bolts and nuts as pictured at desired length. Headsight does not recommend extensions unless you need to run higher If you desire to operate header higher then sensors will allows, you may add extensions Sensor Adjustment 20

27 STATEMENT OF LIMITED WARRANTY For Corn Products Headsight Inc. (Headsight) warrants its new corn sensors assemblies for a period of thirty-six (36) months, and its electronic wiring and interface control boxes for a period of twelve (12) to be free from defects in material and workmanship following the date of purchase by the retail purchaser. Headsight warrants genuine Headsight replacement parts and components to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of six (6) consecutive months following the date of purchase or the remainder of the original equipment warranty period, whichever is longer. Headsight s obligation under these warranties shall be limited to repairing or replacing, free of charge to the original purchaser, any part that, in Headsight s judgment, shows evidence of such defect. Limitations to Warranty This warranty does not cover: Warranty claims directly resulting from improper installation of the product. Any product damaged by accident, abuse, misuse, or negligence after shipment from Headsight. Any unauthorized product alteration or modification. Any unauthorized repairs made with parts other than genuine Headsight parts. Any repairs performed by anyone other than Headsight or an authorized Headsight dealer unless specifically authorized by Headsight. Warranty Procedure Troubleshooting should be done between farmer/dealer and Headsight through our technical Labor reimbursement will occur only pre-arranged through Headsight technical assistance and be scheduled to a flat rate basis or reasonable time allowance in Headsight s judgment. There is no mileage reimbursement. Diagnostic time will not be reimbursed except in pre-arranged circumstances. Warranty claims should be on typical dealer service work order with a number and name to be attached for any future correspondence. All warranty work must be performed, and claims submitted, within sixty (60) days of the occurrence of the claim and within the warranty period. All parts removed during warranty repair should be help for a period of 60 days after the warranty claim has been submitted to Headsight. Headsight, Inc. reserves the right to either inspect the product at the original retail purchaser s location or require it to be returned to Headsight, Inc. for inspection. Limitation of Liability Headsight makes no express warranties other than those, which are specifically described herein. Any description of the goods sold hereunder, including any reference to buyer s specifications and any descriptions in circulars and other written material published by Headsight is for the sole purpose of identifying such goods and shall not create an express warranty that the goods shall conform to such description. THIS WARRANTY IS EXPRESSLY IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. There are no implied warranties of merchantability or fitness of a particular purpose. This warranty states Headsight s entire and exclusive liability and buyer s exclusive remedy or any claim for damages in connection with the sale of furnishing of Headsight products, their design, suitability for use, installation or operation, or for any claimed defects herein. HEADSIGHT WILL IN NO EVENT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES WHATSOEVER, NO FOR ANY SUM IN EXCESS OF THE PRICE RECEIVED FOR THE GOODS FOR WHICH LIABILITY IS CLAIMED. No representative of Headsight nor any dealer associated with Headsight has the authority to change the items of this warranty in any manner whatsoever, and no assistance to purchaser by Headsight in the repair of operation of any Headsight product shall constitute a waiver of the conditions of this warranty, nor shall such assistance extend or revive it. Headsight reserves the right to make improvements in design or changes in specifications at any time, without incurring any obligation to owners of units previously sold. Warranty: 10/
