2 GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Intelligent Manometer is a precise pressure measuring instrument. Its high accuracy, solid construction and its long battery life make it an ideal measuring instrument, especially for measuring tasks where stand alone operation and flexibility are required. The face of the Intelligent Manometer can be rotated through 355. This feature allows the Intelligent Manometer to be mounted in all possible positions; vertical, horizontal or upside down. In the standard version, the pressure transducer is built into the housing as shown below. The transducer is retained with a counternut. KELLER Mounting: Screw the male port of the Intelligent Manometer into the female pressure port and tighten using the lower hexagon of the transducer. Adjusting the facing direction: Loosen the upper hexagon of the counternut and rotate the MANO CALI to the desired position. Do not turn through more than 360. Retighten. The splash-proof cover of the Intelligent Manometer is sealed with an O-ring and may easily be removed by hand by turning the display ring beyond the limit stop (see Battery Change on page 7). 3 OPERATION Depressing the function-key (marked by a pointed triangle) sets the Intelligent Manometer into operation. After turning on the instrument, all segments of the display flash three times for operational test. Between the segment tests, the Intelligent Manometer displays: - the measuring range on the upper display (e.g ) - the software program number on the middle display ( COOL) - the year and calendar week of the program version (e.g. 99:14) on the lower right display After this test, the instrument will always lead into the MANO-Mode. All commands are selected with the functionkey. When the function-key is depressed and held, all commands appear in succession. Releasing the function-key executes the displayed command. This cycle ( constantly depressing the function key and letting go the key at a desired command) is subsequently called activation. KELLER Function-Key 2

4 DESCRIPTION OF THE FUNCTIONS COMMAND STRUCTURE When keeping the function-key depressed, the functions DISP, OFF, MANO and COOL appear successively on the display. Releasing the function-key at a displayed function activates and leads into the function (e.g. to activate MANO --> Press function-key until display shows MANO --> Release the function-key). DISP: EXE: Display of the actual coolant product as well as the peak- and trough value of the actual pressure. To return to MANO-Mode, select DISP again. In DISP-Mode: To reset the peakand trough pressure. Activating OFF turns off the instrument. OFF: To turn off the instrument. MANO: To display the actual coolant product and the actual coolant product pressure. COOL: To select one of the programmed coolant products. 3

5 MANO-MODE FOR STANDARD-VERSION OF INTELLIGENT MANOMETER FOR INTELLIGENT MANOMETER WITH EXTERNAL SENSOR The MANO-Mode is the standard mode of the Intelligent Manometer. The upper display shows here the actual temperature of the coolant. This temperature is internally calculated and depends on the system pressure and the selected coolant. At intervals of 4 seconds, the middle display alternatively indicates the temperature unit and the selected coolant. Temperature- Unit Calculated Temperature Actual pressure Calculated Temperature Used Coolant Actual Pressure For special applications, the instrument can be equipped with an external temperature sensor. The lower display additionally shows then the actual temperature of the external sensor. The display indicates: Temperature- Unit Actual temperature (of the external sensor) Actual temperature (of the external sensor) Calculated Temperature Actual pressure Calculated Temperature Used Coolant Actual Pressure The lower right display shows the measured pressure in bar (absolute pressure scale, 0 at vacuum). This allows to calculate the temperature directly from a coolant product table for coolants that are not programmed in the instrument. Overheating resp. undercooling of the coolant can directly be read from the difference between the measured temperature and the calculated temperature. RANGE OF TEMPERATURE CALCULATION The Intelligent Manometer can perform the calculation of the temperature only if the measured pressure is within the range of 0,50 bar to 80,00 bar. Out of this range, the temperature will not be displayed anymore. 4

6 COOLANT-SELECT-MODUS The COOLANT-SELECT-Mode allows the selection of a coolant product. 7 COOLANT BLENDS / ACCESSORIES ZEOTROPIC COOLANT BLENDS Zeotropic coolant blends have different evaporating- and condensing temperatures. The indication bubble resp. dew differenciates between the evaporating- resp. condensing temperature. Depending on the selected temperature, the corresponding arrow is shown in the upper left display. EVAPORATING TEMPERATURE EXTERNAL TEMPERATURE SENSOR (OPTION) The external temperature sensor allows the measurement of the actual coolant temperature with the Intelligent Manometer. The difference between the measured temperature and the calculated temperature of the coolant determines its overheating resp. undercooling. 8 MAINTENANCE / TECHNICAL DATA BATTERIES The Intelligent Manometer is battery powered ( located behind the display). It does not indicate battery low. If the display starts to fade, it s an indication that the battery is weakening. At this point, we recommend changing the battery. The batteries can be acquired from KELLER. BATTERY CHANGE Turn the display ring beyond the limit stop. It will detach from the main housing. Disconnect the battery connections and remove the old battery. Insert the new battery. Set the display ring back in place. RESTARTING INTELLIGENT MANOMETER If the program becomes locked, meaning that the instrument does not react anymore when operating the function-key, in most cases an interruption ot the power supply can activate the instrument again. Just follow the procedure described for the battery change and disconnect the instrument from the battery for at least 20 seconds. After reconnection, start the instrument again. OVERFLOW/OVERPRESSURE LIMIT The Intelligent Manometer displays the pressure up to 5 to 10 % above the indicated pressure range. If this range is being exceeded, the display indicates OVFL ( overflow). Do not increase the applied pressure any further! If the pressure exceeds the indicated pressure range by more than 50%, the sensor may be destroyed. RECALIBRATION A recalibration of the instrument is not required.
