8 A LOOK BACK AT AUTOMECHANIKA 2016 HERTH+BUSS LIVE, UP CLOSE, AUTHENTIC The 24th Automechanika exhibition took place in Frankfurt am Main between 13th and 17th September and was a resounding success: 136,000 trade visitors from over 170 countries came to marvel at the latest innovations from the international aftermarket. We appeared at the trade fair alongside a total of 4,820 exhibitors from 76 countries with our extraordinary new stand concept: live, up-close and authentic. High-bay storage, gigantic packaging boxes and workbenches at which products could be touched, tried and tested certainly grabbed visitors attention. Our workshop experts Jens - the original and Peter - the junior also piqued the enthusiasm of visitors to the stand with their daily live product presentations in German and English; introducing product highlights from Herth+Buss and also giving useful tips and tricks related to spare parts and tools. The live product demonstrations were broadcast on an LED banderole running around the circumference of the action area, which beamed out a clear signal even at a distance. 15 OUR IGNITION COILS KEEP THEIR COOL! Lots of new additions to the range We have plenty of different vehicle-specific ignition coils in our product range. Modern ignition coils are supplied as a unit (ignition coil+plug connector) and can be simply attached to the spark plugs. Ignition coils form part of a petrol engine s ignition system and they work on the same principle as a spark indicator. When the ignition is switched on, current flows through the primary winding of the ignition coil, causing a magnetic field to form around it. Sufficient cooling and good thermal contact with the body are essential on account of the power loss occurring. The range is constantly being expanded. 16 ELPARTS EXHAUST TEMPERATURE SENSORS 27 sensors for around 900 vehicle models Consumers increasingly expect vehicles to address environmental concerns while also offering improved economy and higher performance. So it stands to reason that the sensor technology found in vehicles today has become so complex. We now offer exhaust temperature sensors for both combustion engine variants (diesel and petrol). In petrol engine variants, they are primarily used for component protection and for monitoring the temperature of catalytic converters and turbochargers. On diesel vehicles, they also monitor the temperature of the diesel particle filter (DPF). We currently offer 27 sensors which are suitable for installation in around 900 different vehicle models. 19 REPVAC REPAIR KIT Problems with negative pressure lines? This is one nuisance you can deal with quickly from now on! Problems with vacuum lines in all types of vehicle are commonplace. Conventional lines made from rubber and hard plastic age naturally due to thermal and mechanical stresses and pine martens also love biting the material. Depending on the task of the line in question, engine problems or issues with the central locking etc. may be the result of this. Other areas of application for repair are air filter boxes, distributors, MAP sensors and pressure regulating valves, to name just a few possibilities. New and only available from us: the RepVac repair kit The RepVac repair kit is now available in the Elparts range: for essentially all vehicles equipped with negative pressure lines for proper operation, i.e. from motorbikes, cars, trucks, buses and construction machinery right through to tractors and combine harvesters. The 89-part kit offers ample equipment for many line repairs, with 2.5 m corrugated pipe in a nominal diameter (DN) of 4.5 mm and straight and angled cable connecting pieces for connections of 3-4 mm and 5-7 mm. The various advantages of the kit include the universally applicable technology, the permanently flexible and durable corrugated pipe material, the small diameter when compared to conventional rubber lines and last but by no means least the savings on costs. The corrugated pipe alternative is considerably cheaper in price than moulded hoses. One convenient side effect pine martens can t stand biting corrugated material. What s more: RepVac represents an alternative for older vehicles in particular, for which replacement negative pressure lines can no longer be procured. The modern corrugated pipe is a useful immediate remedy: it can be used on the spot in the event of a breakdown. 20 ELPARTS TRAILER PLUG REPAIR KITS WITH INSTALLED CABLE Repair of 7- or 13-pin trailer plugs A frequent problem in workshops: faulty trailer plugs. It s not surprising given that they re constantly exposed to considerable thermal (heat, cold, moisture) and mechanical (impacts, shocks, vibrations) influences. The plug can be replaced quickly. Nonetheless, the irritated customer shows up in the workshop once more after a while: the fault has occurred again. The cause? Only the plug was replaced and it was connected to the old cable in the process. In many cases, these cables are already corroded on the inside. This paves the way for the next breakdown. In workshop practice, it is observed that moisture often penetrates deep into the cable alongside the faulty plug. Sooner or later, it will cause corrosion damage there. Herth+Buss has a clever solution for this scenario: the new repair kits for 7- and 13-pin trailer plugs, which are still exclusively available from the parts specialist. All practical repair aids have been taken into account: The repair kits can be used universally for every trailer. No wiring work needs to be performed inside the plug (which saves time when performing repairs). The repair is sustainable as the cable section is also replaced. That s unthinkable for most drivers: after all, almost everyone listens to music or the radio while on the move. But what happens if the antenna line is faulty, causing the radio to stop working? Be aware: it goes without saying that the problem can also occur for radio remote controls. The problem: How do I find the right antenna line for my vehicle? The faulty antenna line should be replaced as a matter of urgency. However, various FAKRA housings (female and/or male) are usually used in vehicles. In some cases, there may even be no FAKRA housing at all in the form of a mating plug because the vehicle manufacturers have routed the line along the entire length of the vehicle without any intermediate plugs. How is it possible for the neutral Code Z variant now supplied by Herth+Buss to be used in all scenarios? The solution: Our repair kits for antenna lines If it becomes apparent during a repair that a female FAKRA housing is installed in the vehicle, our repair cable can be connected immediately. If the connector in the vehicle is male, the adapter cable with article number can be inserted intermediately with a choice of doing so on one side or on both sides. This cable features a connector housing on both ends, allowing it to be used in conjunction with our coaxial cables, which are mentioned above. We ve also considered the scenario whereby no FAKRA housing in the form of a mating plug is present in the vehicle at all. 24 ELPARTS VEHICLE FUSES MICRO2 and MICRO3 fuses in our product range Effective immediately, the right MICRO2 or MICRO3 fuse for your application will always be close at hand. The Elparts product range now includes a new assortment of fuses containing MICRO2 and MICRO3 fuses in all the usual rated current variants. The MICRO2 fuses are available in 5 A, 7.5 A, 10 A, 15 A, 20 A, 25 A and 30 A versions, whereas the MICRO3 fuses (with three plug contacts) cover variants with a rated current of 5 A, 7.5 A, 10 A and 15 A. The rated current values mentioned above each come in quantities of 10 units: the assortment therefore contains 110 parts in total. The spectrum of application is universal for various vehicle models. More and more electrical consumers are used in modern vehicles, causing the problem of finding space for fuses to become correspondingly acute. MICRO2 and MICRO3 flat-type plug-in fuses enable multiple circuits to be protected in a very small space thanks to their diminutive size. Moreover, they are able to withstand ambient conditions such as extreme heat and cold thanks to their silver-plated contacts. Naturally, all of the fuses boast a high level of quality. In addition, we can also supply an inline fuse holder for MICRO2 fuses which is inserted into an existing electrical line in order to protect a circuit (up to a current of 30 A). One additional new fuse holder has been designed to function as a junction holder. Using this variant, additional consumers can be connected quickly and easily. The MICRO2 fuse which had previously been inserted in the fuse holder is removed, replaced by the additional holder and then inserted into the lower slot on the holder. 40 JAKOPARTS NEW IN THE JAKOPARTS RANGE: SUSPENSION STRUT SUPPORT MOUNTS Compromised comfort due to wear Suspension strut support mounts are part of the spring damping system and make up the interface between the suspension strut and the vehicle body. As a component in the wheel suspension, this part is exposed to extreme environmental conditions such as vibration and contamination caused by splashing water, grit, sand, chips etc. A worn support mount which initially becomes noticeable due to increasingly hard impacts or squeaking will ultimately lead to a permanently deteriorated road position and compromised vehicle comfort. As a consequence of this, the vehicle will experience dangerously poor lateral stability, such as in the event of strong wind gusts or drifting caused by bumps in the road. Just one spring tensioner is required to install or replace suspension strut mounts. It must be ensured that replacement parts are always installed on both ends of the axle.
