turnmaster 1.3 Use in accordance with design purpose The turnmaster door drive has been designed for automatically opening and closing side-hung doors closing onto a door stop. It has been constructed and supplied: exclusively for use in rooms without exposure to moisture in the entrance area of internal pedestrian traffic areas of commercial premises and public buildings in residential situations. Applications / uses that are not permitted: The swing door drive is not suitable for use as a lifting or transport device or traction element or similar functions that are not permitted. It is not permitted to permanently operate the unit without mains electricity (power supply). 1.4 Safety notes The swing door described here is a safe high-quality building product. This refers to performance, material, functionality and trouble-free operation of the swing door. However, to ensure safe operation of the door it is imperative that the operators act with safety in mind. This section contains relevant instructions in this respect. Warning symbols referring in particular to individual functions or actions are displayed at the respective points in these operating instructions. There is a risk of injury if the doors are not handled appropriately. Never leave your fingers or hand between the moving and fixed parts when the swing door is in the process of closing or opening. If an object is detected between parts of the swing door, the movement of the door will be stopped through electronic measurement of the force. A tensile or compression force of up to 150 Newton will be created. This is sufficient to cause injury to fingers, especially of small children if their fingers are trapped. Caution: Always make sure to keep the required clearance of the swing door free from obstacles so that the door s function is not impeded at any time. Caution! Extra large glass panes should be marked by attaching stickers that are obviously in view. The leaves of power-operated doors and gates made from transparent materials shall be clearly recognisible. (Excerpt from BG Regulations BGR 232) 1.5 Notes for safe operation of the swing door Before handing over the door system to the operator, the manufacturer or the supplier ( agent bringing the product to the market (such as planners, door system manufacturers, installers) will have to have carried out a safety analysis with risk assessment in accordance with EC Directive 98/37. This requires the use of the appropriate form, which has to be signed. Risks associated with the swing door Caution! If the movement area of the door is obstructed, there is a risk of injury. Attention! In order to prevent any damage to the door or the control mechanism, it is important to fit a limiting device for the opening (not included in supply). The swing door cannot open properly unless the movement area is clear of any obstacles. Always make sure that there are no obstacles or persons in this area. 5

Fitting and Commissioning Instructions 1.6 Important notes for the operator / the organisation in charge Please make sure to carefully read these operating instructions before using the door for the first time. Please instruct all operators / persons responsible for the system to read the operating instructions (part 2 of this manual). In accordance with DIN and the Guidelines for power-operated windows, doors and gates, BGR 232, automatic swing doors have to be checked by qualified personnel prior to the first use to ensure that they are safe to operate. 32 Fitting and Commissioning Instructions 6.5 turnmaster functionsn unktion EIN/AUS Internal program button The program switch can be used to set the following programms of functions when pushing the button: (Also monitor detailed informations in 'operating instructions') Drive ON: The yellow LED lights up. Drive OFF: The green LED lights up. All control inputs are de-activated except the Outside Switch input. It is possible to open the door manually against the force of the spring. The closing process is controlled by the motor. The sensor does not monitor the closing movement. Exit Trouble: The first yellow LED lights up. The drive works in the preset operating mode. Only the input for outside Radar is deactivated. Automatic The second yellow LED lights up. The drive works in the pre-set operating mode. All control inputs are active. Open The third yellow LED lights up. In the automatic program types the door opens and remains in the open position. It is possible to close the door by switching the program switch. The red LED is flashing. In case of easy faults the malfunction can be deleted by pushing the program switch button. The error is shown on internal display by code no. Note: If needed: confirm the mistake / reset by short pushing. On error E101: hold button approx. 3 s until display expires. After 'power down' the program function has to be selected again (after return of power, the operation of drive always starts with OFF). Fault red Operation green Program button Internal program switch (underside of drive) Function selection switch FWS (external) yellow Exit Automatic Open 32

turnmaster External programm switch (function selection switch FSS) The external program selection switch can be used for manual selection of the functions listed in section If this has been connected, it will be the master switch. It will then no longer be possible to make a selection from the internal button. However, the LEDs will show the selected type of program. In case of malfunction the internal program button can be used by pushing, or the external program selection switch simly to be turned the key into different program and back again. (exceptional error code E101). In order to prevent unauthorised use, always take out the key to the program selection switch after selecting the desired operating mode. The different programs are described in the operating instructions manual. Installation and connection Once the external program switch has been connected, it has to be specifically detected by the control system. To do this, disconnect the drive from the mains shortly. OFF Drive out of service WAY OUT Kein Zugang von außen AUTOMATIC OPEN Door permanent open Functional sequence of automatic operation In automatic operation mode, the drive can be activated through one of the control inputs Internal Radar, External Radar, Radio Input or the outside key switch. That means that in the operating modes Operation and Exit the electric door opener is selected and the door opens in accordance with the specified force and speed profile and then closes again after the hold-open period Functional sequence low energy The functional sequence is the same as described in the section on automatic operation. The forces that can be transmitted from the drive to the door are limited to the permitted values specified in Standard DIN

Fitting and Commissioning Instructions Functional sequence Servo In the servo operating mode the drive can be controlled via the inputs Internal / External Radar, the outside switch, the radio input or the presence detection sensors fitted to the door leaf. The presence detection sensor inputs are also active in the closed position. In the sensor on the hinge side the wall masking is active. When a signal is received, the motor will be activated lightly. The motor moment and the drive spring moment are in balance. The motor current required for achieving a state of balance has been determined during the learning cycle and is set for the whole door opening angle. The door will always have to be opened manually. The presence detection sensor on the opposite side of the hinges is active during the closing movement and prevents a collision with persons. The end position damper is active. After the hold-open period (period motor receives curre nt) the motor will close the door in a controlled fashion. Again, as described under automatic operation, the program selection switch can be used to select the programs OFF, OPERATION, EXIT or OPEN External key-operated button (terminal 15,16) Irrespective of the setting of the program and function switches, the drive can be triggered via the key-operated switch at any time. Connection to the control at terminals external button Bolt switch contact (terminal 31, 32) The unit comes with the connection port on the controls bridged.. Connect the bolt switch contact in accordance with its own documentation. The connection should be assigned to opener. Otherwise the turnmaster will not respond. Warning If this connection is confused with the e-opener, the contact of the bolt switch contact will be destroyed! It is imperative to check the colours of the cables again before commissioning the unit Load current e-opener (terminal 29,30) When the drive is activated through one of the control inputs, the e-opener will, from the closed position, first receive current via the switch output. The drive will be started with a time delay. The delay time can be adjusted; its default setting is 100 ms. Once the door has reached a certain opening angle which can be adjusted the current supply to the door opener will cease. If the drive is activated by the safety sensor while the door is closing, the movement of the door will be reversed. The system will react in one of two possible ways: Case 1 - the door opening angle is still greater than 10 : the drive will receive current but the door opener will not. Case 2 - the door opening angle is smaller than 10 : electric current is released to the drive and door opener at the same time. This makes sure that the locking mechanism does not get entangled No-load e-opener (terminal 29, 30) The functional sequence is the same as for the load current opener but the current flow is inverted. That means, in order to unlock the door the current is cut Motor lock A-opener (terminal 19, 20 and 29) When the drive is activated through one of the control inputs, the A-opener will, from the closed position, first receive current via the switch output. The drive will be started with a time delay. The delay time can be adjusted and has to be set to 1.5 to 2 s. 34

turnmaster Permanent unlock (not fire protection system) This function is made for door systems with which the activation-delay of automatic door-opener may disturb the comfortable walking. The permanent unlock has to be activated with a contact bridge on terminal 17/18 and by changing parameter 09 on value 3. Is the bridge set, only with a first activation the time function 'activety-delay after unlock' is operative. With all further openings, the door starts moving immediately within the preset time-window of permanent lock (standard preset 15 min), because the lock bar /-latch will stay in a retracted position. The time of permanent unlock will be started newly by each activation. The door locks only if the contact bridge will be interrupted, the time of permanent unlock is passed by, or the drive is switched to OFF. If, with an activated 'permanent unlock' the parameter 9 is set to value 4, the latch will extend again (so that the door is still locked by latch) but the lock-bar remains in the retracted position. With a new activation the door now gets enabled with a delay of 150 ms by load current e-opener. 6.6 Completing the fitting Fitting the side parts The plastic side parts are slotted in as shown and then put vertical. There will be an audible click. Take them off again as per illustration in section 4.5. Side part (both sides) Fitting a door stopper Since the door learns the possible opening width itself, there needs to be a limiting device for the door (door stopper) in all cases. Fit a door stopper to limit the opening movement door stopper min. 80% of door width ca. 120 pushing max. 100 pulling 35
