2 Outdoor hand operated drives Outdoor hand operated drives are used for manual control of outdoor switching devices, specially the medium voltage disconnectors and switch-disconnectors. Drive of L type This drive is intended for the operation of switching devices arranged in a simple way on wooden, concrete or steel poles. Attachment to wooden and concrete poles occurs by using brackets or sleeves, or fixing bands. Fixing of the drives to the steel poles occurs directly by using bolts. Using a padlock, which does not constitute a part of the delivery, can prevent tampering with the loaddisconnector by non-authorized personnel. The drive lever is linked with a short pipe draw bar of circular cross-section that serves as a connecting link to connect another set of drawbars. The movable part of the drive is connected to the drive base frame by using a stranded copper earthing bar. Box type drive This drive is supplied in the following design: single, double or triple design. The drive mechanism is installed in a box, which can be locked. The drive stroke can be adjusted ac-cording to the dimensional arrangement of the system, to a height of either 140 mm or 110 mm. Non-authorized manipulation to the system is prevented by the installation of a padlock which does not constitute a part of the delivery. Box type drives are attached in a similar way to the pole as the L-drives, with one exception, which applies to the drives of triple design. These drives must use another type of bracket. Box type drive of single design is intended to be used for switching devices without earthing switch. Drives designed as double/triple drives provide for the operation of a switching device equipped with one/two earthing switches, respectively. Drives of double and triple design are equipped with mechanical interlocking of the operating levers, which is one of the means to eliminate a faulty handling. Special design There are two options of a drive in special de-sign: box type drive equipped with a lock, with cylindrical lock insert installed from the side box type drive equipped with a lock, with cylindrical lock insert installed from the front In both the above cases the lock cylindrical insert is protected against the ingress of rainwater by using protective cover. Surface treatment All the steel parts are hot galvanized. 2

The installed reversing intermediate bearings provide for a mutual balancing of the weight of the set of drawbars. If both the levers find themselves in OFF position, then shifting one of the sides provides for the de-blocking of one of the levers 5 - Pins of the drive levers operating lever earthing switch OFF The function of a drive designed as double or triple drive is very similar. With the double drive the right hand lever is used for the operation of the switching device, the left hand lever for the operation of the earthing switch. With drive in triple design the control of switching device occurs through that lever which is located in medium position, while levers on both sides serve as the handling levers of earthing switches. The blocking system of multiple-type drives provides for a reliable function of switching devices equipped with earthing switches, and prevents any defective manipulation with the system. 6
