2 High Quality Materials and Manufacturing Methods Material Quality NIL fittings are generally made of hot-pressed brass manufactured according to German industrial standards. Consequently they meet the demands of highest quality in respect of solidity and water-tightness. Body sections made by the chilled casting method are subjected to a particularly stringent water-tightness test. Finish NIL fittings which are visible after installation are given a special surface finish: Brass, which is ground, polished and either nickel- or chrome-plated. The non-visible parts of fittings for concealed installation have either a matt finish, or can be nickel- or chrome-plated according to individual requirements. Certain NIL fittings are also available, on request, in sanitary colors. Food Laws NIL fittings conform to existing food laws, even if other production materials are employed (seals, etc.). DIN Conformity NIL fittings conform to DIN standards, as far as these are applicable. Such standards relate to dimensions, hydraulic function and noise levels. Fittings tested according to these standards are marked accordingly.
