2 VEGABAR Level and pressure measurements Measuring principle The pressure measuring cell converting the pressure into an electrical signal is the heart of the pressure transmitter. This pressure-dependent signal is converted by the integrated electronics into a standardised output signal. Different measuring cells are used to detect the pressure. The ceramic cells characterise by an excellent long-term stability and high overload resistance. The metal METEC measuring cell enables fully welded versions and covers even higher measuring ranges. VEGABAR series 10 Pressure measurement in gases and liquids The pressure transmitters are designed for pressure measurements of liquids and gases in all areas of industrial measurement technology. The available measuring ranges are suitable for detection of absolute pressure, gauge pressure and vacuum in the range from bar. The focus however, are smaller process fittings of ½ and 1. 6 VEGABAR 17 Process pressure transmitter with metal sensor Application area VEGABAR 17 is a pressure transmitter for measurement of gauge pressure and absolute pressure. Measured products are gases, vapours and liquids. The front flush versions are also suitable for use in viscous or contaminated products. Advantages Two-wire system ma Zero and span adjustable Deviation < 0.5 % Small, compact dimensions Stainless steel housing with clamp connection or cable outlet Wetted parts of stainless steel Function The process pressure causes a resistance change in the sensor element via the stainless steel diaphragm. This change is converted into an appropriate output signal and outputted as measured value. With measuring ranges up to 16 bar, a piezoresistive sensor element with internal transmission liquid is used. From 25 bar, a strain gauge sensor element is used on the rear of the stainless steel diaphragm. 14 VEGABAR 54 Pressure transmitter with MINI-CERTEC measuring cell Application area The VEGABAR 54 is a pressure transmitter for use in the paper, food processing and pharmaceutical industries as well as in water/sewage water plants. Depending on the version, it is used for level, gauge, absolute pressure or vacuum measurement. Measured products are gases, vapours and liquids, also those containing abrasive substances. Advantages Dry, ceramic-capacitive sensor element High abrasion and overload resistance High measuring accuracy Function The sensor element is the small CERTEC measuring cell with flush, abrasion resistant ceramic diaphragm. The hydrostatic pressure of the medium or the process pressure causes a capacitance change in the measuring cell via the diaphragm. This change is converted into an appropriate output signal and outputted as measured value. The CERTEC measuring cell is also equipped with a temperature sensor. 16 VEGABAR 55 Pressure transmitter with METEC measuring cell Application area The VEGABAR 55 is a pressure transmitter for use in the chemical, food processing and pharmaceutical industry. Depending on the version, level, gauge pressure, absolute pressure or vacuum are used for measurement. Measured products are liquids and viscous products with higher temperatures. The hydrostatic pressure of the medium or the process pressure causes a capacitance change in the measuring cell via the metal process diaphragm and the isolating liquid. This change is converted into a respective output signal.
