Uni-directional or Bi- directional installation Shaft side installation is the preferred direction as the fluid pressure supports the contact force. Disc side installation requires a higher end to close torque to keep the contact force to ensure a perfect tightness. In case of torques for Bi-directional application please contact OHL technical staff. 2. Start to open - End to close torques End to close is the required torque at 0 disc position to ensure the desired tightness perfomances. Safety factors are included. Start to open is the required torque at 0 disc position to lift the disc from the seat. 3. Running torque The Running torque operates the valve over the full rotation angle. Dynamic torques must be calculated separately. The specified torques can significantly vary, should contamination occure in the bearing area or in case the packing screws are excessively tightened thus increasing the torque.
