1 Annual Report of Pollutant Discharges to the Surface Waters of the State From the Application of Pesticides January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2018 Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission NPDES Generic Permit Coverage : FLG IWPG For Pesticide Use Pattern Weed and Alg Control Nuisance Animal Control Submitted by: FL Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Invasive Plant Management Section 3800 Commonwealth Blvd. MS705 Tallahassee, FL Phone: Fax: Rick.Clark@myfwc.com Alex.Dew@myfwc.com

2 Report of Pesticide use Pursuant to Generic Permit #FLG IWPG Pollutant Discharges to Surface Waters of the State from the Application of Pesticides January 1, December 31, 2018 The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is the lead agency directing the control of aquatic plants in Florida waters. There are 17 classes of chemical herbicide compounds registered for use by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency () and Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DACS) for use in Florida waters that were used to manage aquatic plants during These compounds are formulated and sold under numerous different trade names. They are applied directly to the target plant or dispersed within the water for the purpose of managing aquatic plants to conserve the uses or functions of the waterbody. Table 1 lists classes of pesticides and identifies 43 trade names of these compounds that were applied to control aquatic plants under contract with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) in Florida waters during Additionally, the registration number is provided along with the amount of active component contned in each compound as provided on the product label. In most cases, the label lists pounds of active ingredient () contned in each gallon of liquid formulation or a percent of the weight of solid formulation herbicides. However, most imazapyr, triclopyr, and 2,4-D labels only provide the amount of acid equivalent () avlable for the compound. Most labels for copper compounds provide only the amount of elemental copper (el) contned in the product. Therefore, the active component of these compounds applied to Florida waters is listed in pounds of acid equivalent or pounds of elemental copper. FWC contracts aquatic plant management activities with government agencies and private for-hire companies. Table 2 lists pounds of herbicide active component applied to individual waterbodies to manage aquatic plants within the State of Florida by applicator entity. The contact information for each applicator entity listed on Table 2 is listed in Appendix 1. Information for individual herbicide applications is on file with FWC and is avlable upon request. Target plants are identified for each waterbody in which they were controlled along with the pounds of herbicide active component applied to achieve control. Annual workplans including acreages of target plants estimated for control and control methods are authorized by FWC prior to any pesticide application. The authorization process to apply pesticides to Florida waters and a list of all Florida waters eligible for aquatic plant control under contract with FWC is described in the FWC PDMP. Additionally, FWC staff makes occasional applications of the pesticide rotenone to Florida waters for the control of aquatic nuisance animals (invasive fish species). No such applications were made during 2018 calendar year. There were no adverse incidents to report related to pesticide applications for aquatic plant control operations or aquatic nuisance animal control in 2018 and therefore, no corrective actions were necessary.
