2 Preparing the brickwork 1 - Preparing the pillars a) The width between pillars is also called the opening, it is the starting point of the gate manufacturing and installation. b) The pillars must be 100mm higher than a straight gate and can be higher than a curved form gate. c) The necessary length for opening the gate is called the backtrack and must be twice the width between pillars, plus 400mm. 2 - Preparing the base / threshold d) The base must be minimum of 150mm wide and must be laid between the pillars as well as on the total length of the backtrack. The base can also overlap the pillar on the lock side. To ensure the gate slides perfectly, the base must be absolutely straight and level. e) An offset surface can be done in order to install a future automation or guiding post. This is an extension done behind the pillar on the backtrack side. 350mm deep and 420mm wide are recommended measurements. 2 Tip: When making the base, install a sleeve/ tube to carry wires for a future automation

3 Running the cables 1 Preparing and running the wires a) All wires must go into sleeves before installation in concrete and/or pillars. The sleeves may be either flexible or rigid and their diameter may vary depending on the wires section selected and of course the amount of wires you wish to insert. b) In most cases, the wires used for the power supply of a sliding gate motor are 3 x 1.5mm² or 3 x 2.5mm². This depends on the distance between the house from the gate. For security devices such as intercoms, 2-4 x 1mm² wires are used. The use of telephone wires is not advised due to its extreme fragility. This sketch is a guideline only, please proceed to an accurate survey before starting the installation. Blinker / Antenna Photocell Intercom Photocell Key selector Power supply Note: Fil = french for wire Tip: Installing a separate concrete housing box eases the installation of the wires. One single sleeve, containing all wires connecting both box and motor, avoids too many wires collecting under the motor. It also keeps surplus wiring in the box - without disturbing the motor. 5 Guiding device installation 1) The guiding device : The guiding device must be installed on the inside of the pillar on top of the gate. The castors slide in a U-profile fixed on a support on the top crossbar. It is only supplied with straight form gates. The pillar must be 60 mm higher than the gate. 1 - Square width 250mm 2 - U-Guide with castors 3 - Slides on gate a) Mounting : Mount guide 2 on square 1 with supplied screws. Guide 2 is situated under square 1. b) Installing on pillar : Position the castors in the guide according to sketch and then draw fixing positions on the pillar. c) Adjustment : 2 different adjustments: castors on support and /or square 1 and guide 2 line up. d) Measurements to to to Total height = gate plus 50 mm Height of gate Height of gate rack 103 mm Tip It is highly recommended to install a 2nd guiding device or an additional guiding post for large sliding gates. 5 Pillar to rail axis: 55mm

6 Installing the guiding post 1) The guiding post : This post is supplied for gates with a curved top crossbar. It must be installed inside the property on the backtrack side. We highly recommend installing a second guiding post for large sliding gates. This post is composed of one adjustable square with 2 castors that slide into a U-profile which is fixed on the gate via a support. Side view 2) Mounting : Mount the square guide on the post. This square can be moved in order to be placed over a motor. Top view Guiding post moved to the left Guiding post in the centre Gate Pillar Tip to All posts are supplied for sealing in the ground. However, you can p u r c h a s e a galvanised base plate for fixing the post on the ground. The guiding post square is also used for outside openings.

7 1) Mounted gate rack : The gate rack is made and installed on the gate during it s fabrication. a) Material : Moulded grey PVC 500 mm long. 2) Components : b) Dentition : Standard Module 4 with a 12mm length axis to axis and a 8mm depth. c) Mounting : Elements have male and female clipsings in order to obtain the length needed. d) Assembling: The element obtained is fixed in an aluminium U-profile, powder coated to match gate colour, which is mounted on the gate low crossbar with threaded inserts and screws. e) Adjustments: Fixings are located approximately every 400mm. As a standard, gate rack is installed at 103mm from under teeth to ground. However, an 83 to 120mm adjustment is possible. 8 Installing the reception 1) Reception on lock side : The support has two components: the fixing part and the receiver. The fixing part is screwed on the pillar. A cover piece on the back of the piece hides all fixing and adjustment screws. The receiver slides on its support in order to catch the guide castor which is fixed on the gate. The guide castor permits the gate plumbing adjustment. If the gate is supplied with a lock, you must fix the latch on the receiver. When there isn t a lock, the receiver is fixed upside down, with no latch. The receiver catches the guide castor. 9 Stopping device and rails 1) Ground stopping device on backtrack: Open the gate to the required position and then position the device with the rubber stopper touching the gate. Draw through the slots the position of the fixing holes. Proceed with drilling holes and fasten the device. 2) Rails : All sliding gates are supplied with a galvanised rail. However, as an option you can purchase a stainless steel rail. Note: both rails are to screw on base (screws & rawl plugs are supplied) Galvanised rail Width. 55 Height. 12 Stainless steel rail Width. 50 Height. 17 3) The wheels : The gate has 2 metal wheels screwed under the low crossbar. There are 4 wheels for fully boarded and 2-leaf aspect gates. Galvanised wheel diameter 80mm The first wheels are installed at 800mm from the gate upright. We install 4 wheels when: The gate is 4100mm wide or more The gate is fully boarded from 1800mm high 9
