7 DESIGN Sedan exterior 5 The picture of elite engineering. The E-Class Sedan body pays visual homage to its predecessors. Yet it displays its very own design idiom: the front end sweeps back dynamically, the long flanks exude athleticism and the rear section is emphatically broad. The presence and appeal of the E-Class Sedan is instantly apparent to the observer, displaying a sense of self-assurance that is perfect in keeping with its long history of pre-eminence. It is a picture of pure power. The striking exterior of the E-Class Sedan includes the standard AMG Styling Package featuring dynamic front and rear aprons and powerful side sill panels. The design leaves no doubt that the 2011 E-Class embraces all the characteristics of a genuine Mercedes-Benz.

8 6 DESIGN Sedan interior At home on the road. We ve thought ahead so you can enjoy the drive. The interior is uncluttered and all the controls laid out intuitively. Simply get in and drive away. In one sense, you ve already reached your destination: a place where you can sit back and relax. Just a peek through the open door provides a glimpse of the re-interpreted ambiance that boasts a sporty, stylish design along with distinctive appointments that make the E-Class Sedan interior feel more like a living room than a vehicle. The use of the finest-grade materials and their outstanding workmanship create a high-quality impression, both in terms of look and feel, and on a functional level. A wide range of ARTICO 1 and premium leather options ensure that you will revel in customized splendor. Wood trim enhances the leather interior, while a heated Nappa leather steering wheel 2 is the perfect final touch. An atmosphere of total comfort is standard in the E-Class Sedan thanks in no small part to the THERMATIC automatic climate control system, which allows front seat occupants to select temperature levels to suit their own individual requirements. The advanced THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control system 3 allows separate temperature control in three different zones. 10 8 DESIGN Wagon exterior Astounding form. A tasteful blend of different worlds defines the new E-Class Wagon s unique character. It features a modern, yet emotional aerodynamic design, supported by standard AMG styling, roof rails, benchmark-setting storage capacity and cargo dimensions, and all the technical innovations from the E-Class Sedan. The comfort, safety and elegance of a sedan combined with the high utility value of a wagon are all traits that the latest-generation E-Class Wagon displays with aplomb.

13 DESIGN Wagon interior 11 Bountiful comfort. The E-Class Wagon has plenty of storage space. Intelligent solutions are required to enable it to be used efficiently such as the EASY-PACK load compartment management system. EASY-PACK QUICKFOLD An actuating lever on the left and right at the D-pillars enables the rear seat backrests to be folded down, even from the load compartment, for easy loading. The release handle in the rear seat backrest area means one move is all it takes to fold the backrest forward. Even when it s upright, the regular trunk capacity is an ample 695 litres. EASY-PACK FOLDING LOAD COMPARTMENT FLOOR The EASY-PACK folding load-compartment floor hides an additional storage space of 132 litres. Its folding mechanics let it open in stages for easier loading. A second load level comes in the form of a compartment case with an additional collapsible crate beneath the folding load-compartment floor. EASY-PACK LOAD-SECURING KIT 1 Along with the second load-compartment level, the Wagon can be supplied with an EASY-PACK load-securing kit. It includes a telescoping bar that attaches to the cargo rails at the sides, letting you divide the loadcompartment into different zones. Items can be secured to the luggage compartment sides using the retractable load-restraining belt. The EASY-PACK rear sill protector helps protect the bumper and boot sill from scratches or damage during loading and unloading. EASY-PACK LOAD COMPARTMENT COVER A combined load-compartment cover and net are positioned in the C-pillar area. The load-compartment cover, colour-coded to match the interior appointments, shields luggage from both the sun and prying eyes. For easy loading, it automatically moves upwards when the tailgate is opening and returns to its original position when the tailgate is closed. Depending on the size of the load being carried, the safety net for dividing the load compartment can be attached between the B-pillars or the C-pillars. This effectively protects occupants from loose items in the load-compartment. Further load-compartment features for safe and tidy stowing include nets integrated in the side panelling for smaller items, bag hooks that pop out at the press of a button, and a 12-volt socket providing an additional power supply. EASY-PACK POWER TAILGATE The electro-hydraulic EASY-PACK power tailgate can be opened by the press of a button from the driver s seat, at the tailgate or by using the ignition key. It can be closed again using a switch on the tailgate. Additionally, it can be stopped in a lower position to prevent contact with low garage ceilings. 1 Available as a standalone option. When it comes to making you feel at ease, the E-Class Sedan and Wagon have few rivals which is not about to change but we have refined a few of the details to help enhance the feeling. Standard 14-way power adjustment for the heated front seats and power adjustable lumbar support for the driver s seat allow the ideal seat position to be found. Climate Comfort seats 1 are available for you and your front passenger, featuring active ventilation to cool the seat surfaces and individually adjustable luxury head restraints. The E-Class doesn t leave your rear-seat passengers out in the cold, either. The E 350 4MATIC Sedan and Wagon feature a V-6 engine that produces 268 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, giving you plenty of power to get the most out of everyday driving. Performance goes a step further on the E 550 4MATIC Sedan with its V-8 engine. The key data: 5.5-litre displacement, 382 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. The result: a sublime driving experience, whatever the situation. Thanks to a lower final drive ratio, we were able to lower the engine speed level and with it, the noise level. It s amazing how quiet the six cylinder E-Class BlueTEC diesel engine runs while delivering exemplary power in any driving condition. The E 350 BlueTEC Sedan has a maximum power output of 210 hp, impressive 400 lb-ft of peak torque and a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 7.8 seconds. Equipped with our next generation BlueTEC technology, this turbo-charged engine also meets the world's toughest exhaust emission regulations, while AdBlue injection, employing both the common-rail direct injection principle and a special particulate filter, makes it one of the world s cleanest diesel engines, eliminating more than 80 per cent of nitrous oxide emissions. With seamless performance and up to 1,176 km per tank 1, the E 350 BlueTEC Sedan is yet another important step closer to the Mercedes-Benz goal of emission-free mobility. The top-of-the-line E-Class engine is the high-performance AMG power plant in the E 63 AMG Sedan. It provides 518 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque and rockets the vehicle to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. 22 20 AGILITY Transmission Power and presence in a sleek package. All E-Class models combine magnificent power delivery with economy and environmental compatibility, because fitted standard on all E-Class models is the 7G-TRONIC, 7-speed automatic transmission. This engineering masterpiece ensures barely perceptible shifts through the entire range of gears. Along with intelligent transmission programming that learns and adapts itself to your personal driving style, 7G-TRONIC can skip several gears for responsive stopping power or when downshifting for quick bursts of speed. It also boasts a second reverse gear with a higher transmission ratio to make pulling away on ice and snow easier and safer. You can change gears using the steering wheel shift paddles or leave the job to the automatic transmission. The seven forward gears in the 7G-TRONIC allow an ideally adapted engine speed at all times, thus reducing fuel consumption. The shorter shift times and smoother shifts make gear changes that much easier, as well as reduce the noise level, which all combined result in the perfected driving experience you would expect from such an advanced machine.

The silence of the E-Class is legendary. Credit for the low noise levels inside the vehicle goes in part to the measures taken to isolate engine sound. This and further extensive sound-absorbing measures mean that, while you ll hear a lot about the E-Class, you won t hear a lot from it. Further to its almost imperceptible engines and transmissions, the E-Class enhanced DIRECT CONTROL package gives you more driving enjoyment, particularly through corners, with no loss of ride comfort. Direct steering and reduced pitch and roll help to create a more agile driving experience. All of this is taken to an even higher level with standard AIRMATIC DC air suspension 1 on the E 550 4MATIC Sedan. AIRMATIC DC uses the Adaptive Damping System (ADS) to reduce body roll when cornering. If the sensors detect a sporty driving style, the comfortable default suspension setting is automatically firmed up. AIRMATIC DC is self-levelling and maintains a constant ride height for greater stability and improved handling. The E-Class Sedan and Wagon are no exception, they are the rule. Technology made up of active safety features like the control and display concept, minimize distractions from the road. Systems that provide support in critical situations and alert the driver to potential hazards such as our Electronic Stability Program (ESP ) and integrated Brake Assist (BAS) system 1 - are cornerstones of the safety design. The vehicle s safety technology activates in the event of danger, including anytime evasive steering manoeuvring is detected, and it takes precautionary measures to reduce the risk of injury to occupants. But thanks to standard Active Bi-Xenon headlamps, you will now be able to detect obstacles earlier than previously possible. Should an accident be unavoidable, the advanced technology is quick to react, offering protection for your own vehicle and for others, including a high-strength safety cell, adaptive front air bags 2, front side-impact air bags, pelvic air bags, a driver s knee air bag, head protection curtains, the crash responsive NECK-PRO front head restraints, and more. The E 63 AMG Sedan has 518 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. And 465 lb-ft of torque ensures that acceleration from any other speed is an equally breathtaking experience. The top speed is electronically governed at 250 km/h, but there are no limits to the driving pleasure offered. That s partly due to the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed transmission with rapid shift times. The four shift programs give you a choice between a Controlled Efficiency, Sport or Sport Plus mode, as well as a manual mode that lets you change gears using AMG shift paddles mounted to the steering wheel. The set-up has distinct echoes of the world of motor racing as does the AMG highperformance braking system with its composite front brake discs, and the AMG sport suspension 1.
