Est Two Daimler-Benz employees the visionary Hans Werner Aufrecht and the technical genius Erhard Melcher pursued their passion for motorsport and founded the two-man engineer ing firm Aufrecht, Melcher, Großaspach (AMG) The legend of Spa: the AMG 300 SEL 6.8 made a name for itself during its first race and was victorious in 24 Hours of Spa. A surprising class victory that went down in the annals of history The AMG 300 E 5.6 was the fastest German production vehicle at that time, able to exceed 300 km/h. The American press was so impressed that they christened it The Hammer, a name that stuck AMG and Mercedes-Benz: with official factory support from Mercedes-Benz, AMG entered the DTM for the first time and, with the AMG 190 E , caused quite a stir. The first in a series of successes in motorsport. Cooperation agreement with Daimler-Benz: 1990 repre - sented an important milestone in the company s history. Spurred by the exchange with the Group, AMG continued to grow. The AMG 5.5-liter V8 supercharged engine: a new chapter in the chronicle of high-performance AMG V8 engines. The 500 hp engine in the SL 55 AMG celebrated its debut and beat out the competition s super cars in a comparison conducted by auto motor and sport. Best high-performance engine: the AMG 5.5-liter V8 supercharged engine won the International Engine of the Year award. An absolute stage win, true to our One Man One Engine philosophy International Engine of the Year award: once again, the AMG 6-liter V12 biturbo engine, a smoothly operating, powerful engine with 612 hp, received the title Best Performance Engine The SLS AMG was the first entirely independently developed vehicle to hit the market, catapulting the brand into the hearts of sports-car enthusiasts. Once again, Mercedes-AMG won the International Engine of the Year award in the Best Performance Engine category. Short wheelbase and extreme performance: the C 63 AMG Black Series heralded the start of a new era. With the SLS AMG GT3, AMG opened up the Customer Sports program, a breathtaking symbiosis of suitability for everyday use and professional motorsport. The SLS AMG GT3 won the Dubai 24 Hour race. Powered by the world s most powerful V8 production engine, it boasted extremely high resilience at the upper limits. The number of active Customer Sports teams increased to 40 worldwide over the next two years With the launch of the 43 series, Mercedes-AMG expanded its product portfolio. The sporty V6 engines opened up the World of Driving Performance for a new target group The AMG 450 SLC with Mampe as its sponsor debutes at the race in Monza. The spectacular third-place performance caused a sensation. The AMG 450 SLC stirred things up in motorsport and became an icon known by the name Mampe And Mampe wins again: victory at the Nürburgring Touring Car Grand Prix. AMG established a reputation as a specialist in the development of performance vehicles and customized Mercedes-Benz production models. The Mercedes-Benz C 36 AMG was the first jointly developed vehicle to emerge from the collaboration with Daimler-Benz. From that point on, AMG represented the perfect symbiosis of motorsport technology and suitability for everyday use The best of both worlds: AMG became Mercedes-AMG GmbH. With the spirit of the AMG founder and inspired by motorsport and the collaboration with Mercedes-Benz, the foundation was laid for success well into the future. The C 63 AMG became the most successful AMG model of its time, combining motorsport qualities with suitability for everyday use. Developed on the basis of Formula One TM safety cars, the Black Series models CLK 63 AMG and SL 63 AMG offered even more precision and performance Unadulterated driving performance: the SL 65 AMG Black Series, the most powerful AMG model up to that point, embodied the characteristics of a super sports car like no other. Its impressive capabilities boasted motorsport quality. First four-cylinder engine: AMG applied its strengths to the compact segment. The new AMG 2.0-liter turbocharged engine became the world s most powerful mass-produced four-cylinder engine, paving the way to maximum performance for the A 45 AMG, CLA 45 AMG, and GLA 45 AMG The Mercedes-AMG GT, the second vehicle to be independently developed at AMG, was launched. The new V8 biturbo engine was the world s first sports-car engine with hot inside V and dry-sump lubrication, and boasted exceptional power delivery.

8 FOUNDERS Supremacy takes technical genius. And visionary thinking. It was with the conviction they could win that Hans-Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher laid the foundations of AMG in Together, they optimized engine power and dedicated themselves to customer sport. They were soon competing against strong, established racing teams and, in 1971, won their class at the legendary 24-hour race of Spa with the AMG 300 SEL 6.8. This made the letters A, M and G famous around the world. A the visionary Aufrecht, who constantly drove the company forward; M the technical genius Melcher, who found solutions for even the most complex challenges; and G Großaspach, the birthplace of Hans-Werner Aufrecht. The courage and determination of its founders to take on the impossible and to work hard at it still shape the spirit of AMG to this day.

Anyone who drives an AMG is making an acoustic statement that comes loud and clear as soon as the engine is fired up. 27 FORMULA 1 At home at the top. Since the 2012 season, the three letters AMG have been synonymous with high performance motorsport in Formula 1 and with huge success. In 2014, the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team won the FIA Formula One World Constructors Championship ahead before the end of the season for the first time and became the sole record holder for the highest number of victories and 1-2s within a single season. In the same year, Lewis Hamilton took the FIA Formula One World Championship, followed close behind by his team mate Nico Rosberg. But there is one car that even our champions follow unconditionally the Safety Car of the FIA Formula One World Championship, a Mercedes-AMG GT S driven by Bernd Mayländer. Mercedes-AMG has been supplying the safety car and the medical car since AMG setting the pace in Formula 1, too.
