We have eight strategically located sales and service centres to give the best possible local service to operators of heavy and light commercial vehicles. 4 Our History MC Truck and Bus history can be traced back to 1968, when the first depot opened as a Volvo Truck dealership. The independently-owned company has expanded over the years and now has eight depots across the south of England covering Essex, Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and Dorset. MC benefits from over 30 years experience in the transport industry and the very best technical expertise, with over 35% of employees having been with the company for ten or more years. 9 MOT At MC Truck and Bus we have invested in our workshops and offer MOT preparation and presentation for all makes of commercial vehicle at all of our depots. Furthermore we offer on site MOT testing at Burgess Hill, Hythe, Maidstone, West Thurrock and Southampton, which are all VOSA Authorised Testing Facilities (ATF). We also perform MOT testing on cars and vans at our Maidstone depot. We understand the importance of MOTs to keep you on the road and have an excellent first time pass rate to demonstrate this, averaging 97% in the last three years. We offer a range of solutions to customers from having tests available at short notice to providing block bookings up to a year in advance. Tachograph Tacho maintenance is an essential legal requirement and at MC we carry out tacho inspections, calibrations and repairs for digital and analogue on all makes of commercial vehicle, available at all depots excluding Burgess Hill. 12 Body Shop Paint Shop At MC Truck and Bus we have a dedicated accident repair centre based in Hythe, Kent. This modern facility with the latest equipment operated by highly skilled staff allows us to provide a first class service. We cater for all type of body repairs, refurbishment and painting through our dedicated paint and body shops. Our technicians are well equipped to repair cars, vans, trailers, coaches, trucks, buses and refrigerated bodies, and we are approved by all major insurance companies for all makes of vehicle. Regardless of the make or model, our technicians have full access to technical data and parts required to carry out any repair. Our new shotblasting booth is 18m long and 5.5m wide capable of taking any vehicle or trailer. It recycles the blast spent abrasive to reduce the waste and has the most up to date dust extraction to help the operators visibility. MC Truck and Bus can provide the workshop consumables and trailer parts you ll need through our partnership with Volvo subsidiary, Roadcrew, who sell everything from batteries and spanners to light bulbs and wiper blades. 14 Training School At MC we recognise that training has become an integral part of our future and know that people are our greatest strength. So, to ensure our technicians stay on top of changing technology and regulations, we have invested over a quarter of a million pounds in developing our own training centre. Based at our Maidstone Head Office, the centre is equipped with the latest diagnostic equipment and latest vehicles. We also offer training from the facility to our customers so that they too can benefit from the latest updates and understand all the enhancements that the vehicle has to offer. It is not just truck technical training that we cover though; health and safety, MOT, bus and coach, road speed limiters, tachograph and management training all take place at our centre. MC Truck and Bus also believes it is vital to invest in young people to ensure a strong future for the transport industry. We employ a number of apprentices and undertake a popular apprenticeship programme involving technical college and work-based training over three and a half years. 15 Health and Safety Environment We take the health and safety of our employees, customers and contractors very seriously at MC Truck and Bus. We seek to promote a healthy working environment and encourage all staff to be mindful of the safety and wellbeing of everyone who visits our depots. We have an internal health and safety policy in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Etc. Act 1974 and other specific regulations. We have regular internal and external audits on our equipment, procedures and working environments and dedicated quality/safety managers at each branch take responsibility for co-ordinating departmental safety standards and performance. In terms of quality management, we are registered for ISO , which is audited twice per year to ensure the standards of this rigorous and world-leading system are being met. We are justifiably proud of our record here, but are always looking for ways to improve our systems and these regular audits ensure compliance and help us find those improvements. We are committed to reducing the impact of our business on the environment in a cost-effective and considered way. We are undertaking a variety of activities to benefit both the environment and our customers through better and more efficient processes, including: > > Recycling water our Hythe depot is now recycling the water used in steam cleaning, with the wastewater treated and then reused in the steam cleaning process. > > Energy efficient heating we have upgraded the heating systems across our workshops and warehouses to a more energy efficient system, which has reduced energy consumption by more than 30%. > > Waste disposal and recycling the legislation governing the disposal of oils and other waste has changed in recent years to further minimise its environmental harm.
