3 Important Notices: The proper care and maintenance of your RoboReel Water Hose Reel requires that you do the following: Release Water Pressure Before Winding: Please remove any non-roboreel nozzles (if you are using your own) from the end of the hose before retracting the hose, and make sure that the unit does not wind in while water is still flowing. Doing so will ensure that no pressure builds up in the hose during retraction, which will increase the longevity of your reel. Replace Water Valve Batteries: The water valve is powered by four AA batteries that need to be replaced periodically. If the water does not turn on after multiple button presses, the batteries are likely due for replacement. Clean the Unit Periodically: After continued use, mud and other materials may accumulate inside your Water Hose Reel. To keep your reel running smoothly, the inside of the unit should be rinsed periodically to remove these materials. Ensure Top Hemisphere is Secured: For safety purposes, your Water Hose Reel will not retract if the top hemisphere lid is not secured on the unit. If the unit does not retract after a button press, please check to make sure that the hemisphere lid is properly engaged and the hemisphere release button is flush with the top hemisphere. Water Safety Conservation Feature: As a safety and conservation feature if only the Water Button is pressed, the water will remain on for one (1) hour. After one (1) hour, the water will automatically turn off. To resume the flow of water simply push the Water Button again. This insures that if a hose if left on and unattended it will not waste water.

7 3. Before First Using the Hose Reel 3.1 Charge and Install Main Battery 1. The Main Battery should arrive with the RoboReel fully charged. However, it is recommended that you charge the Battery for a minimum of 6 hours prior to first using the Hose Reel. CAUTION: Charge the Main Battery indoors only. The Battery is UL rated for Indoor Use Only. 2. Use only the provided Main Battery Charger. Connect the charger to the Battery. 3. The charger s LED indicator turns red when the charger is charging. The LED will show a flashing green when the Battery is charged and when the charger is disconnected from the Battery. 4. The Battery requires charging every approximately days or after every retractions. For optimal battery life, it is recommended that the battery be charged every 30 days. DANGER: Do not override any safety mechanisms with the top cover removed. Doing so voids the warranty and could cause personal injury or damage to the Hose Reel. The following signs may indicate that the Main Battery needs to be charged: 2 faint musical tones play at the beginning of hose extraction. The hose is difficult to extract. The hose is slow retracting or stops retracting. 5. Press the Top Cover Release button to unlock the Top Cover before removing it (See 1 in Figure 4a below). 6. Lift Top Cover to remove (See 2 in Figure 4a). Figure 4a 7. Slide the Main Battery into the battery compartment with the Great Stuff, Inc. logo facing outward. The Battery Release Latch (See 1 in Figure 4a) will engage, locking the battery in place. A faint ready-to-go tune will play when inserting the fully charged battery into the Hose Reel. An additional dit-dit tone will follow the ready-to-go tune when the battery is low. 8. To remove the Main Battery for future charging, push the Battery Release Latch and pull up on the Battery to remove it (See Figure 4b). Turn on the water at the faucet. NOTE: Water may be left turned on at the faucet during retraction. The Hose Reel Water Valve will turn off the flow of water when the hose begins to retract. 9. Extract the hose by pulling it toward the area needing water. As the hose begins to be extracted, it becomes easier to pull. This is the forward assist feature. The RoboReel will also rotate 360º allowing you to water large areas without having to move the unit. 10. Press the Water button on the Remote Control. Water will begin flowing in seconds. 7
11 Button Description 1 Water Turns on or off the water and sets watering schedule 2 Days Sets number of days for watering schedule to repeat 3 Home Turns off the water (if on) and retracts the hose 4 Timer Programs watering time Figure Press the Water button again to stop water flow. Water will drain from the hose for approximately 4 seconds. 12. Press the Home button on the Remote Control or the Retract Button on the unit to retract the hose completely. If water is still flowing, pressing either button will turn off water flow before the hose retracts. NOTE: The Remote Control may be stored inside the RoboReel when not in use. 4. Program Watering Schedule 4.1 Remote Control Functions The Remote Control allows you to control the hose from a distance up to 150 feet, as well as allows you to program and perform functions only possible with the Remote Control. For best results when programming the Remote Control, point it toward the Hose Reel and have the Hose Reel in your line of sight. NOTE: The Remote Control is sealed to protect it from water, and the battery is not replaceable. Please contact us at 888-GR8-STUFF ( ) to purchase a replacement Remote Control or us at cs@greatstuffinc.com. NOTE: The Hose Reel may not function properly in areas that have water pressure greater than 80 PSI. If the water pressure in your area exceeds 80 PSI, a water regulator may be required for the Hose Reel to function correctly. Water Button The Water button is a toggle button that turns the water on and off. If the hose is retracting, pressing the Water button stops the wind and turns on the water. As a safety and conservation feature if only the Water Button is pressed, the water will remain on for one (1) hour. After one (1) hour, the water will automatically turn off. To resume the flow of water simply push the Water Button again. This insures that if a hose if left on and unattended it will not waste water. To program water to run unattended for more than one hour see section 4.2. The Water button also sets a watering program. (see section 4.2) Pressing the Water button while a watering program is active cancels the program. EXAMPLE: If water is running as a result of a Timer setting, pressing the Water button turns it off and cancels the program. If, however, water is off because a daily watering schedule has not yet started, pressing the Water button cancels the program and turns on the water. 8
12 Home Button Pressing the Home button turns off the water and retracts the hose. If the hose is already retracting, pressing the Home button will stop retraction. Pressing the Home button also cancels an active watering program and retracts the hose. EXAMPLE: If you press the Water button to turn on the water and then leave it on for forty (40) minutes, pressing the Home button will turn off the water and retract the hose. NOTE: Water may be left turned on at the faucet during retraction. The Hose Reel Water Valve will turn off the flow of water when the hose begins to retract. 4.2 Programming The Remote Control is used to program a timed watering schedule of up to six (6) hours each day for up to thirty-one (31) days. The Timer button starts the watering program and sets the length of watering time. The Days button programs the number of consecutive days that the watering program is implemented. The Home button automatically retracts the hose at the end of the watering schedule. The Water button sets the watering program. The Water button must be pressed last, in order to initiate the water programming sequence. While programming, if more than five (5) seconds passes between button presses, the program sequence is cancelled. You must complete a multi-day watering program at the exact time of day that you want the program to repeat itself because the watering schedule will occur at the SAME TIME twenty-four (24) hours later. EXAMPLE: If you want to repeat the watering schedule every morning at 7 AM, you will need to program the watering schedule at 7 AM. Timer Button 1. Press the Timer button to start programming a watering schedule. Each Timer button press adds twenty (20) minutes to the watering program. If you want the water to turn on automatically again tomorrow, proceed to Days Button below. If not continue to #2. 2. Press the Water button after the Timer button to turn on the water immediately for the length of time entered, and then shut off without repeating the watering program and without the hose retracting. If you want the hose to retract proceed to (Home Button) below. NOTE: The water is programmed to turn on for a maximum of 6 hours, equivalent to up to eighteen (18) button presses. Pressing the Timer button more than eighteen (18) times will keep the watering time set at six (6) hours. NOTE: If the water is already on when the watering program has been set, the water will remain on for the time that is programmed. NOTE: If you lose track of the number of presses on the Timer button, press the Home button to cancel the programming. To start over with programming, press the Timer button to set the watering time. Days Button 1. After the Timer setting is complete, press the Days button (within 5 seconds) once for each consecutive day that should be added to the program (up to 30 additional days). NOTE: The maximum number of additional days that can be programmed is thirty (30) days. Pressing the Days button more than thirty (30) times will maintain the watering program for the maximum thirty (30) days. 2. Press the Water button (within 5 seconds) after the Timer and Days buttons to set the program, and the water will immediately turn on for the length of time entered, and then turn off. The same watering program will then repeat at the same time of day for the number of days that were entered (without retracting after the program is over). Home Button 1. If you want the hose to retract after the entire watering scheduled has finished (after the total number of days has passed that you have programmed for watering), press the Home button (within 5 seconds) after pressing the Timer and/or Days button. NOTE: If the Home button is pressed more than once, the watering program is cleared and the Hose Reel will retract the hose. 2. If the Water button is pressed (within 5 seconds) after the Timer and/or Days and the Home buttons have been pressed, the water will immediately turn on for the length of time entered, and then shut off. The watering program will then repeat at the same time of day for the number of Days (button presses) that were entered. Then the hose will automatically retract at the end of the water schedule. 9
13 4.3 Possible Programming Scenarios Scenario Button Sequence Number of Button Presses Result You need to fill the pool for 2 hours.
