Do not cut power cords. Do not submerge in water or get wet. Explosion. Unmonitored, incompatible, or damaged batteries can explode if used with isolator. Do not attempt to charge a damaged or frozen battery. Use isolator only with batteries of recommended voltage. Operate isolator only in well ventilated areas. Fire. Isolator is an electrical device that emits heat and is capable of causing burns. Do not cover isolator. Do not smoke or use any source of electrical spark or fire when operating isolator. Keep isolator away from combustible materials.

3 DANGER Eye Injury. Wear eye protection when operating isolator. Batteries can explode and cause flying debris. Battery acid can cause eye and skin irritation. In the case of contamination of eyes or skin, flush affected area with running clean water and contact poison control immediately. Explosive Gases. Working in the vicinity of a lead-acid battery is dangerous. Batteries generate explosive gases during normal battery operation. To reduce risk of battery explosion, follow all safety information instructions and those published by the battery manufacturer and manufacturer of any equipment intended to be used in the vicinity of battery. Review cautionary markings on these products and on engine. Important Safety Warnings Proposition 65. Battery posts, terminals, and related accessories contain chemicals, including lead. These materials are known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects and other reproductive harm. Personal Precaution. Only use charger as intended. Someone should be within range of your voice or close enough to come to your aid in case of emergency. Have a supply of clean water and soap nearby in the case of battery acid contamination. Wear complete eye protection and protective clothing while working near a battery. Always wash hands after handling batteries and related materials. Do not handle or wear any metal objects when working with batteries including; tools, watches or jewelry. If metal is dropped onto battery, it may spark or create a short circuit resulting in electrical shock,

4 fire, explosion which may result in injury, death or property damage. Handling. Handle isolator with care. The isolator can become damaged if impacted. Do not use a damaged isolator, including, but not limited to, cracks to the casing or damaged terminals. Do not handle isolator or any electrical components near any liquid. Mount and operate isolator in dry locations. Modifications. Do not attempt to alter, modify or repair any part of the isolator. Disassembling isolator may cause injury, death or damage to property. If isolator becomes damaged, malfunctions or comes in contact with any liquid, discontinue use, and contact NOCO. Any modifications to the charger will void your warranty. Operating Temperature. The isolator is designed to work in ambient temperatures between 32 and 104 F (0 and 40 C) and stored in temperatures between 0 and 130 F (-17 and 54 C). Do not store or operate outside of these temperature ranges. Do not charge a frozen battery. Discontinue use of isolator immediately if the battery becomes excessively hot. Compatibility. The isolator is only compatible with lead-acid batteries only. Do not attempt to use isolator with any other type of battery. Charging other battery chemistries may result in injury, death or property damage. Do not use or install the isolator if you are unsure of the battery s specific chemistry or voltage. Contact the battery manufacturer prior to attempting to install this product. Location. Do not place the isolator directly above the battery as gases from battery will corrode and may damage the isolator. Prevent battery acid from coming in contact with the isolator Do not operate the isoaltor in a closed-in area or an area with restricted ventilation. Do not set a battery on top of isoaltor. Position cable leads to avoid accidental damage by moving vehicle parts (including hoods and doors) or moving engine parts (including fan blades, belts, and pulleys) that may cause injury or death. Do not mount the isolator near any sources of heat or on the engine.

5 About HP Isolators. NOCO IGD Series Battery Isolators are designed to isolate and charge multiple battery banks. Designed to work with most battery types of batteries, including Wet, Gel, Maintenance-Free, and AGM. Perfect cars, boats, trucks, RVs, snowplows, and off-road vechiles. Getting Started. Before using the isolator, carefully read the vehicle manufacturer s specific precautions and recommended method of disconnecting the battery. Make sure to determine the amperage of the alternator, as well as, the voltage and chemistry of the battery by referring to your battery owner s manual prior to using this product. Do not use this if the alternator amperage exceeds the ampearge rating of the isolator. Mounting. Mount the isolator in a dry location. Do not mount the isolator near any sources of heat or on the engine. Make sure the isolator has proper ventilation. The isolator contains six (6) slots for mounting. Mount the isolator in a desired location with XX self-drill screws. Make sure there are no obstructions behind the mounting surface. Terminal Positions. The isolator has four (4) terminal posts: BATT1, BATT2, ALT and EXT. BATT1 (Battery #1) is for connecting your starting battery. BATT2 (Battery #2) is for connecting your auxiliary battery. ALT (Alternator) is for connecting to the alternator. And EXT (Excitation) is for alternators that require an excitation sensing lead. Wire Sizes & Circuit Breakers. When making connections to the isolator and additional batteries, make sure you have properly sized the wire. The wire size (AWG) is dependent on your application, and the distance between your battery(s) and alternator. Below is a chart that is a general guideline for determining the wire size (AWG) and

6 recommended circuit breaker amperage based on the amperage of your alternator: Table 1: Max. Below are the installation instructions for most applications ( cm) 4 AWG (50A) 1 AWG (80A) 2/0 AWG (120A) 1.) Check to make sure the engine is NOT running. 2.) Please consult your owners manual before disconnecting your battery(s). Disconnect the battery(s) negative (NEG, -) battery cable. 3.) Install the hex nut on each post (included in the hardware pack) before attaching any cables. Failure add the hex nut prior to any connections will result in poor conductivity. 4.) Locate the output terminal on the back of the alternator (sometimes labeled BATT or battery connection) and remove all of the original wires. Attach the original wires together and tape up. 5.) Install a new wire from the alternator output post to the ALT terminal of the isolator. 6.) Install a new wire from the BATT1 terminal of isolator to starter battery (Battery #1).

7 7.) Install a new wire from the BATT2 terminal of isolator to auxiliary battery (Battery #2). 8.) Connect grounds from auxiliary battery(s) to engine. 9.) Install a new wire from EXT terminal on isolator to a ten (10) Amp Self- Reset Circuit Breaker, and then to a twenty (20) Amp On/Off ignition source. Some vehicles may not require this steps. Perform a test before proceeding to the next step (See Electrical Tests). 10.) Reconnect the negative (NEG,-) cable removed in Step ) Perform electrical tests to ensure proper installation (See Electrical Tests). 12.) Installation complete. Wiring Diagram.

8 Electrical Tests. To ensure you have properly installed the isolator, please run the below test. 1.) With the Engine NOT running, the BATT1 terminal of isolator should read vehicle s battery voltage. The BATT2 terminal should read auxiliary battery voltage. The ALT terminal may read from 0V to 13V. The EXT terminal should read zero volts (0V). 2.) For most 12-volt battery systems, the ALT terminal should read approximately 14.8V to 15.5V. The BATT1 and BATT2 terminals should read 13.8V to 14.5V volts. If the ALT terminal reads 13.8V to 14.2V, the regulator may be sensing the alternator output rather than the starter battery. This situation needs to be corrected for proper charging of batteries. NOCO One (1) Year Limited Warranty. The NOCO Company ( NOCO ) warrants that its products (the Product ) will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) years from the date of purchase (the Warranty Period ). For defects reported during the Warranty Period, NOCO will, at its discretion, and subject to NOCO s technical support analysis, either repair or replace, for the fees set forth below. Replacement parts and products will be new or serviceably used, comparable in function and performance to the original part and warranted for the remainder of the original Warranty Period. THE FOREGOING LIMITED WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF AND EXCLUDES ALL OTHER WARRANTIES NOT EXPRESSLY SET FORTH HEREIN, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED BY OPERATION OF LAW OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. NOCO S LIABILITY UNDER THIS LIMITED WARRANTY IS EXPRESSLY LIMITED TO REPLACEMENT (IN THE FORM AND UNDER THE TERMS ORIGINALLY SHIPPED), OR TO REPAIR, WHETHER SUCH CLAIMS ARE FOR BREACH OF WARRANTY OR FOR NEGLIGENCE. NOCO SHALL

9 NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR SPECIAL LOSSES, DAMAGES OR EXPENSES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY SUCH LOSSES, DAMAGES, OR EXPENSES ARISING DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY FROM THE SALE, HANDLING, OR USE OF THE PRODUCT FROM ANY OTHER CAUSE RELATING THERETO, OR FROM PERSONAL INJURY OR LOSS OF PROFIT. This Limited Warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other legal rights, which vary by state, province and country. This Limited Warranty is made to the original purchaser from NOCO and does NOT extend to any other person or entity and is NOT assignable. It is the obligation of the original purchaser to: 1. Request and obtain a return merchandise authorization (RMA) number from NOCO Support at support@no.co. 2. The Product is misused, subjected to careless handling, or operated under conditions of extreme temperature, shock, or vibration beyond NOCO s recommendations for safe and effective use.

10 2.) The Product has NOT been installed, operated, or maintained in accordance with approved procedures. 3.) The Product is disassembled, altered, or repaired by anyone, except NOCO. 4.) The electrical connections to either the AC input or the DC output of the charger are modified without the express written consent of NOCO. 5.) The Product is subject to improper storage or accident. THIS LIMITED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER: 1.) Normal wear and tear. 2.) Cosmetic damage that does NOT affect functionality. 3.) Products where the NOCO serial number is missing, altered, or defaced.
