1 INSTRUCTION & TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE The successful, long term, safe operation of these sprayers resides with you, the user of the equipment. We have taken every precaution in the manufacturing of these units. We use the finest virgin plastic and high grade seals and gaskets in the construction of the units in order to insure quality. The sprayer you have purchase is of the highest quality: however, you as the user must take responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep of the sprayer once it is in use. Use proper protective gear and necessary clothing (gloves, goggles, spray suit, etc.) Wash out your sprayer after using it: chemicals should not be left sitting in the unit, it is not a storage tank. Inspection of seals and o rings should be performed routinely. Unit should be inspected everytime before filling with the spray solution. If seals, hose, pump, straps, etc., look deteriorated, they should be replaced to prevent accidents. These maintenance checks will reveal when seals should be changed out and new ones installed. We do not warranty seals and o rings (rubber parts) since we have no control over the manner in which the equipment is use. Although we use the finest quality, all rubber seals will deteriorate due to chemical attack and the user should be conscious of this fact and should replace the seals periodically. Following are some guidelines for using, servicing and maintaining equipment: 1. Attach spray wand. 2. Tighten hose clamps firmly, do not overtighten or strip hose clamps. This is important because we do not fully tighten clamps at the factory in order to extend the life span of these parts. On the SP1, SP1-E, SP1-E A/R, SP0, SP0-V, SP10, SP2, SP3, EK, EK2.5, EK3, THE PISTON, SP1/C and SP0/C there are3 clamps; 2 on the hose connector and one on bottom of sprayer. On the YT81, YT101, YT189, YT389/E and SP189/C there are 2 clamps; both on the hose. 3. Place some oil on the seal and check valve on the cap. (see tag on cap) 4. After using your unit, empty out the remaining spray solution, (dispose according to the label instructions on the bottle of chemical used). a. Place about 1 gallon of fresh water and run through the sprayer. b. Mix up about one gallon of fresh water with a neutralizing solution, (see list of names of neutralizing solutions at the end of these recommendations) place in sprayer, put cap on tank and tighten. Shake tank so that the solution reaches all internal parts of sprayer, then spray out solution. c. Place one more gallon of fresh water and wash out unit. Spray out balance. (Optional) Your sprayer is now clean and should be stored in a dry, shaded area. This will ensure a long life for your sprayer.

2 We recommend a neutralizing solution be used to neutralize the chemical used in the sprayer. Following are the names of several products on the market. We do not endorse any of these products nor do we claim these are better than others on the market. 3 PROBLEM UNITS CAUSE(S) SOLUTION(S) PROBLEM 1) The unit is new or has not been used for a long time. You pump it but you are unable to build pressure and/or fluid comes out of the wand. A The check valves in the pump module have become stuck, and/or there is an air lock in the unit because of differences of pressure. Note: this is not uncommon Squeeze trigger on spray gun to release air, and pump profusely several times. This will break the seals and allow fluid to pass. PROBLEM 2) Spray pistol all sprayers When you squeeze the trigger on the spray gun, it sticks and is slow in returning to the shut off position when you release trigger. PROBLEM 3) The pin in the spray pistol sticks when pushed; when you release the trigger, the pin does not come back up to shut off the flow PROBLEM 4) The sprayer will not pressurizeyou pump but no pressure is built-up the unit only sprays when you pump. A, B, C, D A, B, C, D B These O rings have been under chemical attack and have deteriorated. (Repair kit is Kit 20). The O rings and washer on the spindle inside the spray pistol have deteriorated from age or chemical attack. (Repair kit is Kit 20). 1. The pump module (tube) has lost the air pressure head. All the air has escaped from the top of the pump module due to improperly tightened siphon, nut, hose assembly. The washer that comes with the siphon, nut, hose assembly has deteriorated and is no longer sealing properly. 2. Split or cracked pump module. Replace O rings in spray pistol and on brass spindle inside the spray gun. If these O rings have deteriorated you should also replace all other O rings and seals in your sprayer before leaks or other problems occur. Unscrew cap on bottom of spray pistol, push out brass spindle and replace the O rings and washer. 1. Empty sprayer of spraying solution. Unscrew cap (nut) from the top of pump module and remove. Turn sprayer up-side down in order to empty pump module; be careful not to lose the stainless steel ball inside pump module. Once pump module is empty, put stainless ball back inside pump module and place siphon tube back in pump module, tighten cap (nut) with wrench provided. Make sure it is very tight. Unit should be ready to operate. 2. Tighten the nut at the top of the pump module with the small wrench provided. 3. If cap is tightened, replace washer in siphon nut hose assembly. 4. If pump module is cracked replace with spare parts through your distributor or dealer.

4 PROBLEM UNITS CAUSE(S) SOLUTION(S) PROBLEM 5) Your unit has been in use for some time. You pump the unit, however; you can t build pressure, in fact, if you stop pumping, very little liquid will come up. A 1. The O rings and the check valve on the pump module have been attacked by chemicals and are no longer sealing. There are two O rings, on large, one smaller and one check valve. 2. The pressure chamber has expanded due to pressure and/or chemical attack. 1. Change out the O rings and seals from the pump module (KIT 12). If these seals have deteriorated you should change out all rubber seals in the unit. If the above does not solve your problem, then; 2. You should change out the pressure chamber (KIT 9) and PROBLEM 6) The unit leaks where the pump module is connected (screwed in) to the sprayer. PROBLEM 7) Fluid is leaking from cap where it is screwed into the tank and should seal with the tank. PROBLEM 8) Unit falls onto its side and leaks through the center of the cap where the check valve is. PROBLEM 9) Unit is leaking from the area just below where the large metal or plastic clamps are where the pump module and pressure chamber enter the unit. PROBLEM 10) Unit is brand new and is leaking from where the hose connects with the sprayer and possibly where the large hose clamp holds pump module and chamber in place. PROBLEM 11) Unit works properly but the tank starts to collapse you can t unscrew to pull the cap off the unit. It seems to have created a vacuum. PROBLEM 12) Pump module on the SVV & stainless; when you are pumping your unit, some fluid is coming back up through the pump. PROBLEM 13) Pump module; when pumping the unit slips and does not seal properly to push air into unit. install a new one. A The O rings have deteriorated Change out the O ring and seals from pump module (KIT 12). At this point one should change out all rubber seals in the unit. A, B Because of capillary action, fluid is being pulled through by pressure. A, B Deteriorated check valve, or could be dusty or have some dirt or foreign matter. A A 1. The hose clamp is loose. 2. The O ring has deteriorated. The factory does not fully tighten these clamps to ensure longer life. There is an orange tag on the side of unit that says hose clamps should be tightened. A, B The vent hole in the cap has become clogged with dirt and is not allowing air into the tank. C, D The small plug at the top of the pump module has deteriorated due to chemical attack. C, D The rubber or leather check inside pump has dried out or has cracked. Cap may be loose. Oil the gasket (30 wt.) This will stop the passage of fluid. Pull check out. If deteriorated, replace. If not, clean out. Place small drop of oil and reinstall 1. Tighten hose clamp. 2. Install new O rings. If the O ring has deteriorated you should install all new ones. Tighten clamps with screw driver. Take a small wire and push in through the vent hole. This will allow air into the tank and release the vacuum. Take cap off, clean vent hole, clean check valve, oil valve and reinstall. Pull out the small check (antenna with O ring) and replace with new unit. Take top off pump module and check seal. If cracked, replace. If dry, place some lubricating grease on seal.
