2 Competitive Model Identification Guide The information on the following pages provides specific model identification information for both gas and electric trucks manufactured by Hyster, Toyota, Yale, Clark, Nissan, Crown, Raymond, Komatsu. 3 Clark The Clark model and serial number are stamped into the data plate, which is usually located in the operator s compartment. If the data plate is missing or illegible, you can find the serial number stamped into the frame. On a Clark forklift, this will usually be beneath the step into the operator s compartment and may be either on the left or right hand side of the forklift. Clark also uses a mast arrangement number to identify the mast parts. It is imperative to locate the mast number in order to get the correct parts. The mast number is grouped with the maximum fork height and is usually located on the outer channel of the mast. For example, 188M01026 contains the forklift s lift height (188 inches) and the mast number (M01026). The most important part of the serial number is the last four digits, or the lot number. The lot number is a designation assigned to a group of similar trucks from the same production run. Trucks manufactured during the 1960s and 1970s use a three-digit lot number, and even older trucks use letters. 7 Crown The Crown data plate is located in or around the driver compartment and includes a model, serial and truck data number. From these numbers, you can identify the truck model, series, series updates, determine relative size or performance, capacity and specific truck data like mast details and load wheel size to name a few. The truck data number is a real time saver by stating the exact configuration of that specific truck and taking out the guess work and research time to determine the details. Due to the wide variety of Crown models and data numbers we have only specified one series of truck below to give a sense of what is needed to perform an accurate parts look-up. 9 Komatsu The model and serial number, located on the data plate, are both required to complete a Komatsu parts look-up. The Komatsu data plate can be found on the dash or bonnet of the truck. Komatsu model numbers, except numbers for older trucks, have a suffix containing a dash followed by one or two numbers (eg. FG20ST-11). These numbers designate the series of the truck and can be crucial in finding the correct parts. Komatsu serial numbers contain a group of numbers followed by a letter (eg A). The letter denotes the country code. The three country codes are: A (Standard Export) J (Japanese Specifications) C (USA Specifications) The mast number is required to look up mast parts, as Komatsu utilizes a variety of types and manufacturers of masts. The mast number can be found on the outer channel, usually on the right hand side. 10 Hyster The model and serial number, located on the data plate, are both required to complete a Hyster parts look-up. The data plate can be found on the dash or hood on the right side of the forklift near the hydraulic control levers. If the serial number cannot be located, it can be found stamped on the top right side where the counter weight meets the frame. Engine information is also required, as the engine specifications cannot be determined based on model and serial number alone. When searching for mast parts, the six-digit mast number is required. If the serial number is missing it can be found stamped on the right side of the frame. When searching for mast parts, the mast number is required. 16 Toyota The model and serial (frame) number, located on the data plate, are both required to complete a parts look-up. The data plate can be found on the front cowl of the truck. It is also stamped on the top or either side of the frame. The mast number will not identify details for a Toyota mast. Our Toyota Mast Identification Key can be used to help determine the correct configuration. The prefix of both numbers should be similar (if the full serial number is given). The serial number is used to determine the truck s production date. 18 Toyota Toyota Mast Identification Key Single tilt cylinder masts are used only on Toyota 3-wheel electric models 40-FBE(C) and 10-FBE(C) which were manufactured before Such masts were made in M, V, F, and FS types. These numbers can be found on the data plate, located on the right side of the dash or hood. If the serial number is missing it can be found stamped on the right side of the frame.
